When Dale were suffering from
probably the worst defensive injury crisis in recent history, boss Keith
Hill turned to local rivals Oldham Athletic for help and recruited the
services of right back Kelvin Lomax.
The tall right back had fallen out of
favour a little at Boundary Park. He was very highly rated by his boss
at the Latics, but was struggling to make an impact on the first team
after a bout of early promise.
The spell at Spotland was just
what was needed. He made a total of ten appearances for Dale, giving an
almost immediate impact.
He fitted very nicely into the
team, looking solid at the back, but not afraid to push forward. He was
comfortable on the ball, and showed himself capable of unleashing a long
range effort.
He stopped at two months before
returning down the A627M. His time at Dale gave his career the much
needed boost, and after a man of the match showing for Oldham against
Everton in the Cup, he became a regular in the Oldham side for the rest
of the season.
