What I.Saw: I Could Dream For More & Complain About Less
at 13:27:43

For now though it's enough for me that over the season we finished above Notts Forest and Dirty Leeds
..................

God, you're easily pleased or clutching at straws. The latter, I think.

Million miles better than Clough? McClaren's signings have been woeful in comparison bar Thorne who has been so unfortunate. Clough got pelters when he played Brayford as a holding midfielder at Brighton if I remember rightly. You don't go experimenting on the most important game of the season.

We couldn't even finish 7th!

A summer of transition ahead and some hard choices.

Sam Rush's Home Video Will Put Disgruntled Derby Fans At Ease
at 12:03:51

Quality post. You almost had me going there with the headline!

Are you the only one who feels this way? No, Daniel, you are not.

Disillusioned by the whole set of events since Saturday and that doesn't even include the result.

Whilst Nigel was struggling at home, there were mitigating factors such as injuries to Hendrick which a small squad struggles to replace. I think if he had been able to bring in loans that he was comfortable with (Albrighton, Keane) ,we would have got through a difficult period.

As for Rush, he reminds me of how the patient three year plan was ripped up under Gadsby to be replaced by an ambitious dash for the PL. However, there were resources to support this ambition. I sometimes think that Clough, though even more inexperienced then, would have been a good choice in 2006 or someone similar than Billy who is too ambitious. (Billy & Sam Rush are soul-mates)

Then all this talk about 'football relationships' (we seem to have already alienated other Championship managers judging by their reaction to Clough's sacking, people like Mick McCarthy, Garcia at Brighton & tannoyed Pearson about the Whitbread loan), new structure & 'sporting director'. It all sounds like that half baked link-up with Utrecht.

So we have a new manager, but really it is the same old faces from McClaren back at Derby for the third time to Colin Gibson looking like an eager ten year old as he shows McClaren around Pride Park. Apparently, we have a nice pitch.

Unless there is investment, nothing will change. Indeed we hired McClaren because we didn't even have to pay any compensation, hardly the most auspicious sign. Instead Rush has put pressure on a young team to get results. We were inconsistent because it is a young squad. Grant said in an interview that Clough took the pressure off his young players. Now we expect a bunch of youngsters like Hughes and Bennett to get us into the top six.

Clough Legacy In Tatters As GSE Write Callous Final Chapter
at 16:53:57

Another top article from the heart. I agree with everything you write. I find it bizarre that, for years, GSE have advocated the slow build throughout the whole club with the youth teams all playing in a similar style to the first team. Clough was critical of Michael Jacobs, but he wanted his players to think & make the right decisions & young players had to learn in place of experienced players who cost.

What will happen to this continuity in the Academy if it is Pulis? Listening to Collymore, Pulis's sides play percentages and are non-thinking.

Steve McClaren? Nothing against him, but he struggled at Forest without resources.

Instead, we seem to have made a decision without any thought and treated another member of the Clough family, 40 years to the day almost, very shabbily.

DCFC Owners, Not Players - Put In A Disgraceful Forest Performance
at 11:01:41

Yes, the sacking of O'Driscoll sprung to mind after yesterday's tactless and ludicrous events. The sense of shock throughout all the media (BBC, TalkSport etc) and neutrals & the criticism of the club (justified). It is sad that fans, supporters of Clough, are being lumped with a board who seem to have lost the plot.

Frequently read articles on Ramzone, simply joined to praise a well-written and heartfelt article & response to yesterday's madness. I'm glad you mentioned Clough's own personal loss which only compounds how insensitive yesterday's decision was. Well done, Daniel (applause).

It is a results driven business but Clough tried to implement a long-term vision, a contradiction.

He knew results mattered, & there were times when he could have lost his job but the board admirably (& thankfully) kept faith and patience. It's not as if we are bottom of the league & winless like Bolton who have spent more than us.

Disillusioned. We have thrown the best part of five years work down the drain.
