Man City sue Premier League
at 23:03 4 Jun 2024

Quite possibly.

£100m isn't an awful lot these days. Arsenal spent more than that on Rice.

There seems to be an indecision at the top level of decision making. On one hand they seem to want to prevent the top clubs from setting up their own league, on the other they seem hell bent on forcing them to try and do so.

The time will come where the top clubs, both naturally big like Man U, Liverpool and Arsenal, and those made big by other means like Citeh and Newcastle (or abroad like Real M, Barca, PSG, Bayern M and others), will decide that there is no benefit to them by sticking with the established order.

Fan protests killed the first attempt at a ESL. They won't hold it off forever.

Not debating that.

It's the pretence that FFP is there to somehow maintain the "integrity" of the game as opposed to doing the exact opposite in an attempt to rig it in favour of the established big boys that I have a problem with.

Much as I hate to admit it, I do have some sympathy.

FFP rules weren't brought in to aid sustainability in the game, no matter how much the governing body may protest to the contrary. They were brought in to limit the amount of spending that clubs like Man City, PSG and now Newcastle can do.

Unlimited oil wealth could upset the current status quo and see the established big boys struggle to maintain their grip on success. There is no deeper reason to it than that. FFP was designed to protect the established members of the ECA.

Having said that, it looks pretty clear that Citeh have bent the rules that existed at the time.

People don't even have to vote for other options on a regular basis. Just enough to keep the buggers honest and wary of retaining their jobs.

An electorate who keep returning the same hapless idiots time after time has only itself to blame. South Africa are finally learning that lesson after decades of watching the ANC run the country into the ground.

It's a tricky one.

We've had our fingers burned a few times by bringing back players from our past so based on that Oli would be a risk. However, he's basically in his prime as a striker and we know full well that he's more than capable of banging them in at this level whereas Langstaff would be a gamble.

I suspect we'll probably be priced out of a move and that's ok. Realistically we can't really afford Langstaff either but no doubt accommodations will be made.

I would absolutely not want Mrs. Winston to have to spend any time nursing me. She's already lost both parents to Cancer. If I thought for a second that she'd need to sacrifice anything for my benefit I'd do the deed myself.

A proper euthanasia/assisted suicide law is long overdue in the UK. We wouldn't put animals through what we expect humans to suffer.

None of the politicians ever elected in Wales have been remotely capable.

This is the problem. If you're the sort of person who sees politics as a career, then you're going to be eyeing Westminster as your final destination. Cardiff, Edinburgh and Stormont will barely register. Thus, if you're not selected for the big job then ultimately even your own political party has deemed you to be second rate.

That's not even going into the reality that the salary vs expectation of Politics these days is more than enough to dissuade anyone capable of doing the job from running for it. Maybe 40 years ago an MP's wage was comparable to what could be earned in the private sector by any seriously competent individual, but those days are long gone.

I can't say I've ever had much trouble navigating the M4 in Newport at any time aside from the nonsensical and unnecessary 50mph limit, but then I rarely go near it at rush hour.

There's not much difference between Tory and Labour these days because for decades the UK electorate has shown very little interest in extremism. For all the accusations that the current Govt are "Fascist" or "Far right", in reality they're nowhere near.

Probably there's a tendency towards the right as UKIP, The BNP and others have achieved far more electoral success than any equivalent on the left such as The Green Party or Corbyn could ever hope to, but for the most part the loons are rightly ignored at the ballot box.

Whether that will remain the same as radical Islam continues to grow in influence remains to be seen.

MND is probably one of the worst ways to go. Not so much for yourself, but for others.

Burrow and Sinfield have done great things since his diagnosis. Not sure I'd have been strong enough to hang on this long. My natural instinct would have been to top myself at the last moment I could than drag it out.

George Bush Jr had an MBA from Harvard but that didn't stop most of the people defending Abbott now from deriding him as stupid.

Abbott may well be brighter than she appears when it comes to book learning, but there's no getting away from what a massive race baiter she is and always has been.

And there are those who think that it's a good thing that everyone over 18 years old is allowed to cast a vote, no matter how stupid, and don't see a problem with allowing 16yr olds to do it too.

Millions of people in this country will pay money, actual British currency, to vote in the Britain's Got Talent final.

Some would have you believe that those same people should be allowed to vote on who runs the country.

Weird.

Improved train service for the Cardiff area

The problem you have is one of convenience.

A public transport system in SWW even remotely close to the convenience of private transport would require tens, maybe even hundreds of millions a year in subsidy. There's no way on Earth that it would have the passenger numbers to be self-sustainable.

Maybe it could be done cheaper with driverless systems (staffing costs tend to be the most significant ongoing ones as I understand it) much like the DLR. Urban and rural light railways running on a permanent loop.

I'm coming around to the idea that voting should be like driving. You should need to pass a knowledge based test proving that you understand concepts like compound interest and thus possess the required mental capacity to vote on important things like who runs the country.

Do that and get a voting licence which can also double as ID at polling stations, so it's win/win.

Plenty of people in the "real world" spend stupid amounts of cash on designer gear.

I know a bloke who once spent £350 on an Aquascutum jacket (and this was 20 odd years ago) then promptly lost it on a Swans away trip to Torquay.

Alleged sex pest and strong contender for most stupid person that I've ever met in my life Geraint Davies MP steps down. Carolyn Harris now unopposed as most useless elected representative for the Swansea area.

Martin, much like Martinez, seems to be awfully good at getting journalists raving about what a fantastic manager and all round chap he actually is.

In completely unrelated news, lots of stories tend to leak out to journalists from teams where either are involved.
