Grealish is a Southgate loyalist and is almost bound to go - if nothing else he's good for falling over and winning free kicks.
You can be sure whatever team Southgate picks for the first game, people will be unhappy.
Not overly fussed about the gk and defence selection (our weak point whichever way you look at it), the rest I would hope is:
Rice Bellingham
Saka Foden Eze (I know in my dreams)
Kane
If Gallagher (the new Mason Mount) starts then I give up. |

Yes re CBs it's a bit of an indictment of English football currently that we're really lacking in that department.
So I might be disappointed that we'll probably start with Maguire and Stones, but realistically they're the best options we have. |

Well true, sadly it's a lot more dull though. Especially when you look at the attacking riches we have.
Anyway the main issue with Southgate is making effective changes during the game particularly against the stronger sides. You'd hope he's learnt over time but it seems he hasn't. |

Yes the defence and goalkeeper are the weak points.
And because of that Southgate opts to give them more protection, rather than outscore the opposition which we are more than capable of. And which is of course far more exciting.
