Meant the chant that went around "Marti, Marti, you're a c**t"
Yes he is no longer a QPR employee but the guy did a half decent job for us.
And with a strikeforce over two seasons including the likes of Alfie Lloyd, an even younger Kolli, Frey, Dykes, Sinclair Armstrong have to say he did not have the firepower we have today,
Whatever happened for him to be put on gardening leave , most were disappointed.
He eventually got the job at Leicester, mainly because they knew they were likely to be hit with ffp charges, an embargo this January and also a likely points deduction and given Leicesters history, a very likely lower half championship finish this season, its a job that he would always have been open to criticism.
I know its fun saying getting sacked in the morning for some to opposition managers etc but fans calling him a c**t particularly after he has spoken well of our club.
Its classless by fans that did this.
Was a brilliant victory yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it but this kind of treatment of a bloke that basically kept us in this league with a very sub standard squad compared to what we seem to be developing now and maybe Stephan is a better manager. However....
I will probably get a few pelters on this, as have done in the past when criticising some of our fans, and I guess people's prerogative but as a club I think we are better than that.
Whenever an issue at the club, I would always ask what would Andy Sinton, the club ambassadors view be.

I’m glad you’ve posted this. I’m in Q block and I winced when that was sung but from memory there was just one burst of it then fizzled out not to be heard again. I think I would have reacted if it had. I didn’t join in any of the Marti related chants, too much respect for what he did for us. |  | | |

Yeah heard it in the first couple of minutes of the match and just winced.
Nourry PR machine have really done an amazing job haven’t they . French representatives courted at the club for every home game from early March yet Marti is put on gardening leave for much less . Got to give them credit .
And yes , CN hired people for that job alone . And it shows .
Having said that, nothing wrong with “Marti what’s the score etc”. That’s just to be expected at any football match . Even “sacked in the morning”. Don't really have a problem with that . We’ve sang it to others and as any clubs fans would enjoy winning a football match .
QPR moves on and we are where we are , overall in a better place .

I could hear it in the Upper Loft (ML) as loudly & nearly as often as "What's the score".

Agree, most of it was light hearted, no problem with that.
The Ct one shouldn’t have happened but wonder if it started due to a lack of response from him to the light hearted chants. Still wrong in my book but possibly not reading the room more than anything else.
If nothing else, it’s worked if it meant to wind up the Marti disciples in the fan base, this summer on here was a touch exhausting. |  | | |

I was surprised by the venom of that chant but I think the Last Christmas one was the most telling. Fans really did give him their heart and I suppose that's always going to leave them feeling betrayed. |
I am going to make a sweeping generalisation here but something which has struck me before and which I think is relevant in the case of these chants - chants which I consider to be disrespectful and wholly unfair - is that there is a large tranche of fans of this club and indeed all clubs who, while still just as passionate as people on here, don't get involved with fanzines, fans' websites e.g. LFW and the like. They're not interested in the story behind the story and analysing how we play and/or how the club is run.
I reckon to people like them, Marti looks like a charlatan.
Then there will be those fans who just love to have a go at anything related to rival clubs and those who get off on being contrary and/or controversial.

I think this is probably the nail on the head.
I'm in R Block and was surprised to hear that chant early on. Very surprised. Most of us looked at each other and eye rolled without joining in. However, there will be a group of people who just see him as Beale 2.0 - someone who has not stayed and finished the job here, but gone on to a bigger club. Someone who was backed by the crowd in difficult times. The last Christmas song captures that well. |  |

The "what's the score" I agree it's not anything to get too worked up about. I wouldn't have sung it but fairly standard.

I think as we’re doing reasonably well it tips the balance in fans’ minds about who was to blame. If we’d gone into it 20th in the league with fans baying for Nourry and the manager which didn’t seem unlikely not long ago I could imagine a very different welcome for him.

As long as it's not racist, disaster chanting, homophobic or whatever, you can't police chanting. If it's loud enough for you to hear - and in the R, we could hear it often - then it's how a sizeable number feel. Start your own song instead, see how that goes.

All unnecessary in my opinion given the job he did, keeping us in the Championship twice when he had his hands tied behind his back due to the appointment of Ainsworth and duff signings in the summer of 2024. If we're giving opinions about chants, two that wind me up more than that one-off are:
1/ "We hate Cardiff City and Chelsea are shte..." We hate Cardiff? Really?! Because we lost a 2nd Div Play-Off in 2003 to them? Are we're still going on about it? If I was Cardiff I'd think it was tinpot. It's very Brentford, that.
2/ I also hate "everywhere we go, it's the Rangers boys making all the noise" sung when we are home. Away from home, fine. At home? Rinky dink, Reading-style song. | | | |
