Yes, exactly the same format as this season. I remember Doncaster having a crap season in the 90s and being relegated, Halifax went down with a whimper in in 2002 too. | | | |

I think others have answered your question, although the conditions have changed over time with only one relegation place for many years and some seasons where the division didn't have 24 teams. |  |
