Mismanagement of their members money and no consultation. Once the Trust has gone, the donations and the goodwill also goes.

Even more so should a Supporters Trust be gifted a Golden Share in the Club. At that point it becomes imperitive that those responsible for the gifting have put measures in place which encompass the entirety of the membership when it comes to any issues relating to the share in the future. Trust committee members come and go over the years for a variety of reasons, it can never be left to those individuals to be the sole decision makers when it comes to anything involving the Golden Share. That should always be down to the whole membership and needs including in any legal documents in respect of a Golden share. Not sure what will happen at our club, probably 75% of fans have not joined the Trust. [Post edited 2 Dec 12:52]

Supporters Trust membership is in decline, with several recent resignations from membership. This simply wouldn't be happening with a healthy Trust You're absolutely correct about those gifting the Golden Share taking steps which won't allow those in temporary positions at the Trust to take any actions based on lack of transparency and communication The word "complacency" cropped up in the article about Exeter. We must remain eternally vigilant

They 'got lucky' by drawing United away in The FA Cup to provide a buffer but on the whole rely on transfer fees and add ons as we traditionally did for many years. See Watkins and Jay Stansfield as opposed to Scott Hogan and Craig Dawson. Eventually, however, those funds dry up and these days without a benefactor - I'm not sure how clubs compete in league football. Most clubs have one, but if your wage bill is circa £4m a season as Exeter's currently is, you need player sales on a frequent basis to break even if no benefactor is propping up the club. When outgoings so often exceed income, eventually your day of reckoning will come as ours did until The Ogden Family rescued us. Exeter are now in the same boat by the looks of it, but unless they make significant changes or address outgoings, they will likely have to go down the same route we did. Makes you realise just how lucky we are!
