Common sense for Bury away 11:13 - Feb 1 with 2012 viewsRAFC1907

Most of us will already know the drill for Bury away, the way in which the police operate etc.

A Friday night game will be music to the ears of GMP so before you end punch drunk before the game consider this:

Isit worth it? You dont want to get there for an officer to issue you with a form which means you must leave the area before you even have the chance to enter the turnstiles.
(This has happend to numerous folk around the country, regardless of the fixture)

You may just be having banter but the police dont see it that way, and they are the ones unfortunatley that have the powers to do as they wish.

Also you risk getting locked up and banned for the smallest of things these days at football so be careful, have some common sense and dont play into the hands of GMP.

The players, management would rather hear your voice, as would the fans singing together.

We have the opportunity to show the world that night we have a good following of fans, so lets create a terrific atmosphere and BE THERE to be part of TEAM ROCHDALE.

Be safe.

I woman at work was saying her 18 year old son, a Bradford City supporter, was arrested outside Spotland for swearing as he came out of the match. Even in the back of the van on the way to the station, the police were telling him they usually would have just had a quiet word, so they didn't know why they'd had to arrest him. As I explained, it's just another way for GMP to increase their fees by telling us they made x amount of arrests on the day.

The policing bill is in no way determined by the numbers of arrests/ejections/cautions. The same cost is incurred whether there are zero arrests or 500 arrests. The arrest count is of no consequence when it comes to charges. The bill is charged at a fixed rate based on numbers of officers deployed.

As stated elsewhere, the club will have to pay for the officers deployed within the ground and those outside the ground are paid for at public expense.

If, as he claims, they 'didn't know why they had to arrest him', who made the decision to do so ? Was he charged or 'de-arrested' later ?

Yes but when the club see's the stats at the end of the season it looks like there are real problems, when in fact there are none.

It's a well known fact that's how GMP operate.

The point of the thread anyway is to hopefully persuade people not to get plastered so they dont make mistakes and get to see the game.

It's a well known fact that one arrest isn't seen by anyone as a major problem.

As far as the Giggle Lane experience is concerned, if people can't behave themselves at a football match and can't stay sober enough to see the game, they have only themselves to blame.

Personally, I'd be more concerned with people carrying batteries and golf balls than anything else. Unless all Dale fans decide to wear crash helmets, of course !!

Unfortunately it is not just one arrest though.

The aim of the thread is to hopefully make people think twice, the more Rochdale fans there that night, the better.

By all means continue trying to argue ;)

No point in arguing, since this thread is about a month premature.
