Sorry to see you go
at 19:34 21 Apr 2012

Sorrier still that there's some of our lot giving it the big ones, for the life of me I don't know why people feel the need.

Suspect it's in part because we've got a lot of teenagers post round and about who don't remember what relegation feels like (s***e). Although I've seen us drop down 3 times and you forget about it once the fixtures are out.

Anyways Coleman seems to look like he wants a proper clear-out over the summer so who knows what shape next season will take. Best of luck to you with it and I hope we get some revenge for this season's batterings season after next.

Oh and if you wonder what the hurricane of wonder is that'll be blowing through Rochdale some point next season, don't panic. It's just Bradford City. Who are, and remain, massive.

Can't find the thread we were chatting on t'other day.

To my lasting regret (which will likely be quickly washed away since I'm 400 per cent sure you're doubling us tomorrow) I can't come up for it. Some mates are moving to Australia next week and it's their leaving do tomorrow. When I mooted the idea that Spotland could be an alternative venue for my afternoon Mrs Strange gave me the special "are you kidding me you think I'm looking after our daughter on my own all day and making excuses for you while you spend £100 bogging off to Bury v Dale for the second time this season" look.

So since I want to see us win back the Beardy cup we'll just have to draw tomorrow, you'll have to become better and stay up and we'll have to beat you next season.

Belated thanks from Beardy's family
at 09:59 17 Jun 2011

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone from Dale who came down to give the old goat a send-off. I know the whole family, and Mum in particular, found the whole thing easier because of the sheer number of people from every facet of his life that wanted to get involved, particularly football.

I know he'd have enjoyed TTNYear's pictures too, particularly stuff involving the "world's most expensive door".

Judd, I've asked JM to pass my number on to you so Vikki and I can sort out joining you lot for a few beers when whoever hasn't already f****d off to Scunthorpe meets whoever hasn't already f****d off to Barnsley in September. By then I may have remembered which newsreader it was.

Beardy's Funeral
at 08:56 3 Jun 2011

I know some of you were planning on coming down to see the old man off.

If so, the Memorial service for him is in the Legends bar at Gigg Lane on Tuesday (the 7th of June I think it is) at 3pm.

Anyone from Rochdale is of course welcome, I know he had a lot of friends on here.

Apologies it is pretty short notice - blame the tools responsible for registering deaths in Manchester for that.

Thanks from Beardy's family
at 19:50 27 May 2011

As a few of you may recall from the old Rivals days, I am Beardy's son.

Most of you also know by know that we lost him this morning after a horrible and savage lung cancer that he brought so bravely - he was still smiling at his grand-daughter (he only got just under 5 months as a grandfather) just a couple of hours before the end.

Thanks to everyone who co-ordinated the flowers. Knowing he was so widely appreciated outside of Gigg has really helped.

Furthermore we all know how much he enjoyed his banter with Daleys down the years, and how the support he received from the people on here helped keep his spirits high throughout.

On behalf of my/his family, thanks to you all for making what was a damn unpleasant battle more bearable for him.
