It was indeed a great atmosphere in the ground from both sets of fans, but they did have a drum, which limits the credit I'm prepared to give them.
Also, I've seen lots of comments online from their fans saying our support was really poor and we could barely be heard from the other end. Not sure what to make of that as they did give us a lot of credit after the league game up there.
From the away end, it certainly seemed like we couldn't have done a lot more in terms of noise and was definitely our best support of the season for me.
The ultimate stupidity came in the second half, when a small group started belting out the "John Westwood's a fvcking clown" song, in total ignorance of the "in league 1 for 10 more years" line.
This may be an alien concept to many now, but I always believe you should put out your best team and try and win every game. If individuals are injured or not fit enough to play, fair enough, but it rarely pays off to rest players en masse, simply for the sake of it.
Positive results are always more likely to come when playing a settled side.
I think they'll be plenty of empty spaces in the away end as loads with tickets won't bother. Can't really blame people for not being arsed with it as the 12.30ko and distance makes it a pretty shit day out for most anyway....or an expensive overnighter.
Our style of slow build up play with very little gain is so tedious and boring, it saps the life out of everyone. Even when we were getting the results, long periods of the game had you falling asleep. It affects the crowd and the atmosphere suffers.
Harwood-Bellis is arising He is exactly what we need Lets play him on the right Where he's out of sight So super Jack can take us to the Premier League
The club have ballsed up big time on this and anything they do now will be too little, too late.
We're not talking about someone who just passed through SFC for a couple of seasons; the guy made over 200 appearances and managed us for 6 or 7 seasons ffs.
We drove up the day before too and went to Bolton v Villa, an evening kick off. Was amazed the game went ahead as plenty of snow about and had to walk through a heavy blizzard on way to the ground. Fvcking freezing it was.
It helped us acclimatise though and made the next day feel like we were in Dubai.
