Dorking
at 10:26 15 Apr 2024

It's a really tricky one for me. I actually think we've done okay; we've stopped the decline and recruited some decent players.
But, coupled with that, we have thrown away a lot of points against a lot of teams who were there for the taking. We take zero risks as a team.
Next season looks to be the weakest National League in living memory and as the parachute payments cease after 2 years, we really have to give it a go.

I feel like we set up to not lose as opposed to trying to win. I love Jim, he's a wonderful person and gets the club; he's been an unbelievable servant to us but I do wonder if we are ruthless enough to get back up with him in charge. I really hope we can do it with him, I want it to work but especially if this takeover goes through, we should be looking to have a real go next season.

Absolutely devastated by this. Wishing him and his family all the absolute best in the world.
You've got this Joe!

I think so. Dorking are effectively down anyway but we can hit in the final nail; and we can relegate Boreham Wood depending on how Saturday's results go.

League 1 clubs interested in Rodney

Probably! It's Pete O'Rourke's account and I do believe he sometimes posts articles to deliberately generate interest, but sometimes he is also on the ball!

Crazy what can happen when you hit a bit of form!

I'd love him here next year if he's feeling fitter from all his health problems; mid table League 1 is quite a jump too.

Massive news by the looks of it. Someone local who understands the club and its importance to the town.

Fingers crossed all goes through and the due diligence is carried out properly and effectively.

TVOS Preview: Rochdale v Woking

Fingers crossed for a much better performance tonight and a big win to move us further clear of the bottom 4, in front of WSH!
Wonder if Sassi will play again to rest Nevett? Other than that, I'd maybe give Jez a rest and hopefully take home a big 3 points.

Very nervous at the moment!

Just a quick question as I have not attended an EGM before; do I have to bring my share certificate as identification in order for me to vote, or any other form of ID? Not sure how they work.
Thanks

Confirming our worst fears. Felt physically sick reading that.

TNT Sports Rain Covers

Just a guess here, I think that was because of a frozen pitch as opposed to rain, and naturally Barnet won't have undersoil heating.
Just speculating of course.
I'd say it's 'fairly' likely there will be some form of protection aided by TNT to ensure the game goes ahead, and the Met Office has predicted a dry but windy evening, so fingers crossed.

Devastated, but what a keeper. Been absolutely sensational.

Looking on the hopeful side, if we were paying a large chunk of his wage that is more wiggle room to bring somebody in. Also, I hope Wolves at least gave us some notice that he was going to be recalled so we could get somebody in relatively soon. If we aren't able to before Saturday, I assume we will be allowed to bring in an emergency loan?

Got a bright future in the game, I just hope he plays for Northampton and isn't sat on the bench (like Hayes has been!)

Thanks Louie.

D'Mani Mellor back on loan (n/t)

Agreed with the consensus; but I trust Jim fully and he wouldn't bring back any bad blood.

Give him a second chance. As with the previous post, John and Sinclair didn't look ready for League 2 but look comfortable with this level, hopefully D'Mani will too.

Agreed with this. Also a big fan of Gilmour when he's played quite deep, he's really good on the half turn and keeps the ball well. Seems to be working so far with East playing further forward.

International call up

Don't think that's why they'll be on the bench; I think you're allowed to name 7 subs for the Cup unless I'm mistaken? So without Nevett and Mitchell and having a small squad as it is, there may be space for a couple of the youth.
I'd also be amazed Rodney plays any more than half an hour as he has been out for a while and will need very gradually nursing back in.

For a loss, I'm pretty happy with that. Yes it's never nice to lose, but we played well I thought against the team who will run away with it this year. As others have said, we were always in the game and the fact they can bring on Ollie Banks and Grigg and have players like Naylor starting, who are seasoned EFL pros, shows the gulf in experience of the squads.
We played some nice stuff and if we play like that in every game from now until May, we will win a hell of a lot more than we'll lose.

Also shoutout to Cameron John, really gutted for him to go off injured. He has improved so much and nothing but respect for his desire to turn his Dale career around. Speedy recovery mate.

I am absolutely no expert but as it was by 'mutual consent,' I'm assuming he won't have paid his full contract off, or shelled out or anything like that.
I would say it will have been a few weeks wage, maybe a month? So hardly a big fee, maybe a couple of thousand.
But again, I am no expert here, just guessing.

Really looking forward to this tonight.
Barnet was a really good test and will be up there come May but I expect Chesterfield to win the league, so this will be a brilliant game to see truly where we are.

We may go behind, and even lose, but I'm really hoping we stay positive and get behind them. From my point of view, we've started really well considering the finances and having a rookie manager, but full credit to MRKT, the board and Jim for how we have started, long may it continue.

Let's hope we can really put on a show in front of the nation!
