Departures in the development squad
at 12:44 15 May 2024

I assume Torquay must have been playing him further forward?

Interesting that Plymouth are allegedly looking at him as they will have more people watching every Torquay game than us as they are neighbours but Torquay have only just avoided relegation out of National League South so level is low: would expect he is too good for that level and will stand out. Needed a loan at a higher level really.

Not surprised we have released him if he couldn’t get in the first team squad ahead of Drewe or Kakay in 2 years though.

I did like this away kit (less said about the home kit the better though).
Our players were more attractive back then too.

What would you consider success to be this off-season?
at 08:54 15 May 2024

Yes that’s obviously very important but definitely not all that matters.
We still finished near the bottom down to the playing squad: with a number gone and surely more to follow then we need better quality replacements.

No other club would take and play a QPR 16 year old regularly: logic suggests we develop them for a few years and if they are developing well then it’s an easier sell to other clubs to take them and play them regularly. No point in having 21/22 year olds in the development squad if they’ve had no league experience elsewhere as it’s too huge a jump to Championship level.

As said before the pathway to becoming a regular 1st team squad member surely has to be a decent playing loan at National League or above for starters which as a club we still have poor results at.
How many of those released players have had decent loans spells if any?

Transfer rumours 2024
at 13:21 12 May 2024

Injured last season so didn’t get a chance to progress: hopefully the plan is a League One or Two loan next season which will give him a chance to shine. Would expect a one year contract with a QPR option of a second year: if he does well on loan then get him into first team squad and new contract: if he doesn’t push on then he leaves at end of next season.

Low cost gamble to me and worth taking as forwards aren’t cheap to buy so try hard to develop your own if possible.

Definitely didn’t rate him: dropped him to the bench after a few games then out of the squad altogether: bet they couldn’t wait for the loan to end.

A move abroad is his best bet: some leagues may be less physical and suited to his talents than English leagues.

I’ve gone for Italy ahead of Spain and France but expect Switzerland to win ahead of Croatia who will win the public vote but not the juries. Greek girl was great, song not so good.

The UK performance was a lot better than on Tuesday but the guy’s vocals just not strong enough live: probably won’t finish last though.

No final day wànkathon for Sky this season.

Premier League will be delighted: they managed to show how tough they were with their FFP ‘punishments, and the bigger teams still stayed up.
Forest and Everton must be laughing and planning to overspend again: no reason not to. Perhaps as well as points deductions they should add transfer window bans for the following summer, and also make it clear that any future breaches will lead to an immediate points deduction twice the size of their previous punishment.

Luton and Sheffield United didn’t spend Premier League sized transfer money so we’re almost guaranteed to go down: Burnley did spend big so have badly underperformed I think.
