Thank you for the response, I would agree, it is about the quality of the support and I personally think Taylor and Done was an improvement on Gibbons. We may agree to disagree on the issue, but we all want the best for the Dale.
Somebody posted that JM, took the person responsible for recruitment to County, but I thought recruitment was in part due to MKRT, I did not know we had somebody in the background doing it. That was news to me.
Hopefully IW can get the experienced defender in, I still think we need an experienced striker in as well, but who is available as free agents? |

442Dale - if I can remember, I was suggesting that IW needed some experienced pro's or coaches to assist him. McNulty for his first two years did not have the support and I feel the recruitment of Done (ex-player & coached at Port Vale) and Taylor (ex-player & coached at Barrow) was difference last season, he also used Hendo, when he was not in the team. Whereas IW may be in the same position, he may need somebody to assist him, yes he has Magnay (who has coached at Gateshead) and Mangan (who has coached at Skelmersdale), but is this enough at EFL level?
I wish IW all the success in the world, but as D Allen posted 'As he was talking, i stopped listening. He didn't engage my attention. With a squad of young (or not so young) men to corral into a fighting force, he lacked sufficient presence' . So I am asking the question, 'Does IW need an experience EFL coach to assist him, especially on match days'. |

I said 'I wonder' and this is posing a question, sadly based on the way seem to give up against Gillingham. I only respond when the question is sensible. Sometimes, I wonder if some posters dislike criticism of the management or the club, I want IW and the club to succeed, this does not mean I cannot express my concerns. |

I have to agree, he may be a nice person, but his team selections and subs have been baffling and seem to be desperate gambles. I still think the move from the Conference North to the EFL is a step to far for him and can we afford to be cut adrift while the board dithers. |

You think the Club would be trying to sign him on loan, he has the experience we need, but Tranmere have an experience EFL manager, yes a journeyman, but experienced. |

I cannot see anywhere, that it as been that we have signed Charlie Tasker on loan or is it just speculation.
In respect to Mani, I pointed out in an earlier post, Mani has scored just 4 goals throughout his EFL career, whereas Rodney has scored around 25 goals in his EFL career. Mani is a good NL striker, but that may be his level, I hope I am proved wrong tonight. |

I will wait to its confirmed, because a number of championship teachers have enquired about him,
I agree we need to play attacking football tomorrow, we cannot carry on with the indecisive negative football we have seen so far, I wonder if Smith is ready to start or needs more game time to get up to speed. The bigger question is what formation and team selection will be tomorrow, because it changes every game. [Post edited 31 Aug 20:40]

If IW remains manager, he needs experienced support, someone like Hendo and even Keith Hill to advice him and assist with the coaching, will it happen, I doubt it. It is constantly changing of the team system, which may be an issue is it causing confusion. The game against Shrewsbury is a most win in my humble opinion, otherwise the mood may force the board to react.
So we could go into Tuesday with the players still learning from the mistakes as IW says after every game, but nothing seem to change, perhaps it is not only the players who are making the errors .
Hopefully we can sign players before the deadline, IW as indicated he is looking to recruit a couple of players by Tuesday in the hope of strengthening the squad, with one being rumoured to be the 19 year old fullback, Jay Sway from Huddersfield, but Exeter are rumoured to be interested in him as well. As others have posted we need at least three experience pro's, including a striker, which I agree with. If Jamie Allen & Brandon Williams are training with the Dale as implied in last Tuesday's open day, is there talks ongoing or not? |

I don't want to see any manager sacked and would love IW to succeed and yes, we have injuries, but a defeat on Tuesday, then the board most consider its options, do they persist with IW and risk a situation in which, relegation is likely or enquire about Maynard or Robinson, in the hope of turning the season around, again replacing IW may go pear shape like the appointment of Jim Bentley.
Does IW need a wise head, like Keith Hill to advice him in an advisory role to help turn things around.
What worries me, is 1) Ramming looks nervous in games, 2) the defence shape is constantly changing 3) In the midfield we have some good players, but lacks leadership and the inability to dictate games, 4) Who is there to score the goals? Mani as scored just 4 goals in the EFL through out his career, Rodney as scored in most seasons in the EFL, with around 25 goals 'but is injured', Brown as scored 2 goals in roughly 45 EFL games. So we struggle to defend, cannot control the midfield (IW described the second half as chaos) and cannot even hit the target, never mind score. Otherwise all is fine. |

I have to agree, I feel Watson may be sadly out of his depth at this level, we are in the mire and if we don't win on Tuesday, his future will be in serious doubt. |

The question is did Maguire have a medical and did he pass it?
I agree we need to bring in some season pro's, one I would consider on loan is George Nevett. Also if as indicated on another post, Brandon Williams and Jamie Allen were training with the Dale at the open training session on Tuesday, have the Dale made enquiries about signing them. Personally, I have little faith in IW at the moment and this applies to any potential signings and his team selections.
Colchester on Saturday is a banker home, I suspect. |

After seeing that formation at Newport, I did not think it worked and would only use the formation, when Maguire or another CD is able to fit into the role, then Moss can drop into the right back role, because TAR is not a right back, Yes Moss would be better in CD then Sherring, but the midfield was over run at Newport with the gap between Gilmour and East allowing Newport to walk through and the three up front struggled.
So at the moment, we must play a system that suits the squad available, ie,
TAR and Hannant as wing backs, with Moss, EEL & Bilongo in the centre of defence to keep the defence as tight as possible. |

Totally agree, I think three at the back works for us generally, I agree that playing players out of position didn't help on Saturday. With the injuries and players missing, I would play Moss, EEL and Bilongo at the back, with TAR at right back and Hannant at left back. Moss and EEL would hopefully add a bit of stability and Bilongo the pace at the back.
I also agree that I would have Brown up front, instead of Mani and Silcott-Dulberry in the No 10 role or even Smith in that role.
However, I fear that IW will persist with square pegs in round holes approach or with Wilson & Sherring, despite questions being asked by the fans about their perforances. |
