We were certainly in a better state at Portsmouth on day one this year than we were against Preston the year before, but that is an incredibly low bar. The conditioning of our team at the start of last year was a joke and it led directly to the debacles at Plymouth and Coventry.

It was, reportedly, done in the half time warm up last week. |

I don't know. Hull FC don't know, and Hull City Council don't seem to know either. |

Thank you for doing some work to provide some hard facts on this. The bundle of weekend stats and facts for the Championship this weeks also tells me QPR have made 40 changes to their starting XI this season, more than any other club. |

They've also taken a huge loan out on the stadium, despite not owning it. Big source of controversy in the city at the moment. Shambolically run club with a fantastic manager. |

Well this is the issue with the "none of them are long term, the cavalry are coming next month" approach to the messaging isn't it? No good if you're losing players at a rate of three a week. |

The one valuable asset we've got who is in form and fit is Edwards. We're all focused on the next few games without these players which is natural, but as TK says nothing is won or lost in October. The bigger problem here is Dembele, Burrell, Kone, Poku, Saito, Madsen, to some extent Lamptey... all of these players have been bought with the idea that we develop and sell them. Nobody's going to buy these players off the back of their current fitness records - and deleting historic injury updates off the official website will fool nobody. It's not ideal for our on pitch prospects, it's catastrophic for the business model. |

Match preview's going to be a real treat this week innit |

You're not alone mate. Maybe we could start some sort of bitter anti fan club. Get together in the Crown for all their games and laugh at the Shepherd's Bush plastics. |

Yeh, sorry, my fault, and TK right to pull me up on it. It was a throwaway comment to lead into my main point, but it was likely unfair and I should have thought more carefully about it. |

So I think we're at the big name, experienced, no-nonsense ball breaker to whip these players into shape stage of things now. Conte? Followed of course by the promising, progressive up and comer, and then the club legend. Maybe Neville's turn next time. |

Well you know I agree with that. And that I love a high horse |

You know, having had he chance to sleep on it, you make a good strong point which while not fully in agreement I do concede.

A wonderful watch, and not just because I'll never tire of Man Utd getting bummed. Como reminded me of Bielsa's Bilbao side, which also ripped into Man Utd a decade or so ago. |
