 | Forum Reply | Who will be the Relegated 3 this season at 13:11 18 Feb 2026
Sheff Weds - already down Oxford - too inconsistent and can't seem to put results together even if they do come out with some shock wins now and again WBA - current form not good enough I expect Leicester to put a run together at some point. They do have quality where it counts. Blackburn seem to nab wins away which is quite handy. If they can improve their home form, they will stay up. Charlton - nearly have enough points in the bag already. It would have to be a complete implosion to go down from where they are. Skates - Got to admire them for grittiness. They do lack quality everywhere, but they get the results to keep them away from the drop zone when it matters. Norwich - The form side at the bottom. They are going to end up somewhere in mid table. The new boss seems to be working out for them. |
 | Forum Thread | James Bree - Our man on the inside at 16:38 16 Feb 2026
Firstly does anyone know if Bree can play in the up and coming fixture with Charlton? I'm not sure on the rules about a recalled loaned player then playing against his loaned club on return to the parent club. I'm sure he'll have a few insights on how to beat Charlton, which may prove useful, especially if he is allowed on the pitch. I think he's made that right back spot his own and I've been very impressed with his form on return from The Addicks. I certainly didn't know he could score with headers :) |

Fair point but people are only remembering Archer for missing sitters at the moment! |

Well you got that spot on and both worked out well :) |
 | Forum Reply | Cyle Larin at 11:47 9 Feb 2026
I'd say we need to give Larin some games time. He didn't get that an Feyenoord. No point in using him as a bit part player because all you'll get is bitty performances. Give him 6 starts and we'll soon know if he can be a consistent threat. I like Ross Stewart, but sadly his body is not up to being a 1st choice No.9. |
 | Forum Reply | Southampton Confirm Adam Armstrong Departure at 07:13 3 Feb 2026
Have to agree with Southamptonfan. Arma is excellent in the championship, but needs too many chances to score and as you get less chances as a stiker in the Prem, thats going to result in less goals. Therefore if your not clinical.....well we all saw what happened. Not an ideal time to lose him, but fully understand why the club would cash in now, as I wouldn't see him getting offered a better deal down the line. He's done well for us, had his time and now signs off in a positive manner having bagged another 11 for us this season. My major concern is have we upgraded? It doesn't look like it. although I'm happy to be proved wrong. Larin's stats might not be good, but at least he's big, strong, with experience (for a change). |

Well I didn't see this coming after the Portsm**th game! We actually showed some intent to get the ball forward quicker today. Not an impressive performance like Charlton away, but at the very least competant. COYS |
 | Forum Thread | 2 Poor teams at Fratton Park at 09:23 26 Jan 2026
I think those of us that haven't woken up yet, need to. The 2 teams that played yesterday at Fratton Park were very poor, even if it was an improvement on the showing at St Marys earlier this season. To be slightly better than a very poor Portsmouth team should not be nothing to aspire to. They should have been at our mercy this season, instead we have come away with 2 bang average draws. Of all the players in the Saints team, we have to think about who we'd keep to get a promotion drive going for next season. Judging by the last 10 games, we are so way off a promotion level team it's laughable. I think we are just about on relegation avoidance level form. Sorry to come across as pesamistic, but this season has kind of worn me down. So who would you keep? (obviously apart from Leo, who I think everyone knows deserves the shirt.) |

Fair point. Our DM's are a bit better than our CB's. |

I no longer think the formation is the issue as we have played well for Tonda 1st 6 games using his preferred back 3 with 2 supporting wing backs. I just don't think we have the players of a decent standard in the backline. Stephens - Never rated him has very few games without several mistakes and is not a leader of men. The worst Captain in SFC history THB - Overated.just becasue he came from a good Man City youth setup and had 1 decent season with us in the championship 2 years ago. Found out in the premiership and has only proved to be very inconsistent in the team this year. Quarshie - Plays like ayoungster, Doesn't have the experience to make effective useof his pace and height. Isn't a great passer and lacks vision. Wood - Probably our best defender, but can be exposed, probably because of the players he's having to play with at the back! Edwards - Looked promising at times but also aliability at times when he was playing. Doesn't get the game time to let his potential be fulfilled. In short we need to get ride of at least Stephens and replace him with a Ball playing defender with pace. We'll need to fork out as I don't think we have one in the current squad. We also need Charles back as I don't think Flynn Downs gives much to the team at all. We also need to sort the Captaincy. Not sure why Orirl still isn't playing, but we could do with him as Captain on the pitch. [Post edited 4 Jan 17:57]

 | Forum Reply | Did we appoint Tonda too early? at 17:43 26 Dec 2025
I think the Jury's still out. I don't want to condem him too early. He did after all find a winning formula for 5/6 of his first games. All he needs to do is find it again. I do think teams have studied us and worked us out though. The manager's job is to change up things to outsmart the opposition. We seem to have just gone back to possesion driven sideways bullshit that we had before TE. It makes me think senior players in the squad are an issue in influencing a young manager that we need to play the RM way. They need to get rid of that style now or TE will face the same oblivion WS did. [Post edited 26 Dec 2025 17:44]

I was one of many that were calling for a decent CF under Will Still, but Tonda has changed the way we move the ball forward so much that I really don't think we need one because we are scoring more than enough. it's the other end we need to look at We'll have the option of moving to 2 up top to chase games if we need to when Ross Stewart is fit again. I'm also for getting a Keeper in January, but only if there is a decent one available to actually improve us. |

Interesting issue you've raised there. When RS returns do we try and adopt a different way of playing? Also how can you drop AA with the form he's been in lately? If we play 2 up the formation will have to change and that could be disruptive. I'd say use RS as an impact sub initially and we see how it goes. |

Like us Ipswich have had a re-vamp, although not a change in Manager. I would say they have vastly improved over the last 6 games or so. At the start of the season they were the promotion favourites, but had a lackluste start. They would have been expected to beat Coventry. Lampard has got Coventry playing very well and since 2 seasons ago they have improved quite a bit. I would put them on a par with Saints on current form.Should be a real gem of a game to watch. |
 | Forum Thread | Scienza at 23:26 6 Dec 2025
Leo Scienza returned today and was heavily influential in getting us the win against Brum. You could see what was missing in the Millwall game. He can break lines like noone else in the team. I think he may well turn out to be the most influential Saints player in the last 10 years. Your thoughts people? Are you a Scienza fan or do you think he's a bit too hyped? |
 | Forum Reply | Tonda confirmed as Head Coach. at 19:08 6 Dec 2025
It appears your right. Will Still was the issue. What the players needed was someone to give them some confidence back after last season and now they have it and that makes aworld of difference. I think it's about 50% confidence, 50% actually playing the right ball forwards. The midfield is now linked to the front 3 and we are creating 3 or 4 times the amount of chances a game than we were under Still. |

Oh Yeh! I forgot Ruddock went to Spurs first. He certainly had a great sense of humour. I can't attest to how awful seeing his bare arse was though :) |
 | Forum Reply | Southampton At Millwall The Preview at 22:04 27 Nov 2025
Anyone remember the old Den? I remember going in the late 80's/early 90's when Millwall were briefly in the top flight. They had Tony Cascarino and Teddy Sherringham up front so were a damn good outfit at the time. I rememeber getting a can of Lilt taken off me by the police on the way in as that was obviously considered as a weapon back then. We then preceded to be shown into our "cage" for the match. We started to take the piss out of the Millwall kids at the back with their squeaky voices, chanting "Meeewall, Meeewall". The MIllwall fans were not best pleased and too say there were a few threats would be an understatement. They kept us in for a long time after the game as aresult, so they could stop Millwall fans going for us. I think the match was a draw but it wasn't a memorable one. I remember Glenn Cockerill scored. |

Oooo! Terry Hurlock Oooo! Terry Hurlock. Talk about ferocious in the tackle. Neil "Stomper Ruddock" as well. Imagine if they had played in the same Saints team. I think they missed each other by about a year or 2. Think Ruddock was sold to liverpool before Hurlock arrived. |
 | Forum Reply | Is Tonda Eckert THE ONE? at 22:21 26 Nov 2025
Well after the last 2 games he's won me over. The QPR game we should probably have not won that. He got lucky, but luck is something a manager needs on his side,so I'm all for that. Lets face it Saints needed some luck and it's started this great run. The wins at Charlton and here against Leicester have not been in the slighlest lucky though. TA has got them breaking fast out of the press. We didn't see this in any of Will Stills games. What TA has brought is new and all about the style he is enforcing on the team. I really couldn't see anything under Will Still apart from an impotent version of Russ Ball. I think the players were not being coached (or they were just ignoring him). They were having to play based on their previous experience under RM. I think on the evidence so far it's clear TA has a working formula with this team and thats quite a rare thing, to get the team playing consistenty well. If he wins at Millwall he's got to get the job. If he loses, we'll see for the first time in the games to follow if he's a quick learner and can get the team to bounce back, in which case you have to give him until Xmas really as a minimum, but must decide before the Jan transfer window. |
