My brother, a lifelong Dale supporter, John Ridehaugh died recently. Before he passed away, he mentioned selling his collection of Rothmans books (collected by himself and our dad before him). I have nowhere to put them - they are currently laid out on my landing at home!
There are, I think, 56 books in all, from the first dated 1970-71 to the 2025-26 publication. Only 2021-22 and 2022-23 appear to be missing.. All are soft back and in good to fair condition. Before going down the eBay route, I wonder if anyone would be interested in them? I can sell as one lot or individually if anyone is short of a particular year book.
All proceeds will go to Dale1907, who were so helpful to John and assisted with his awake wake in March. Thanks. |

Thanks for posting.
As a fan of Dale for 57 years, my brother went to so many matches through good times and bad - as did our Dad (and three generations before him!)
John watched last Saturday's game with me but sadly we didn't get the result we all hoped for.
It's great that Dale 1907 and the club have suggested a minute's applause, he'd be chuffed! We chose the 8th minute as he sponsored Harvey our No. 8.
Myself and the family will be in the Sandy tomorrow cheering the lads on - let's get behind the lads and get this over the line! |

On behalf of John Ridehaugh and the rest of the family, I'd like to thank the club, supporters, bar staff and Scratch for putting on a great event on Saturday night.
It was lovely to see so many of John's friends and former football team mates from way back.
Thanks to everyone who donated memorabilia for the auction/raffle items - also those who outbid everyone to buy them.
Special mention to Lee for his help and Dave the compere for his assistance with the auction - he did an excellent job!
We raised over £1000 for Springhill Hospice - and still counting. Some items have been saved for auction on the Curry Night in April. Please lend your support at this event and help to boost the final total.

I'd have suggested you dropping them at John's house, but he's in bed most of the time and struggles to get downstairs to answer the door quickly.

An invite to all Dale fans.
Next Saturday 21 March, my brother John Ridehaugh, has arranged an 'awake' wake at the 1907 lounge beginning 7.30 pm.
Many of you will know John; he's been a Dale fan for over 55 years and has stage 4 prostate cancer. He is trying to raise as much money as possible for Springhill Hospice which provides wonderful support for patients in the local area. There will be a raffle, auction of Dale and other football memorabilia during the evening and a buffet. John invites you all to attend and support a good cause. Friends, family and players will be joining him.

Yes, funnelling fans through one entry/exit is a recipe for disaster. Have football clubs learned nothing? This is serious and needs addressing at once.
My husband (Liverpool fan) was at Hillsborough in 1989 and the repercussions are still felt today. |

That wasn't my take on JM's comments.
He mentioned the phrase 'car crash' and his experiences so far, but I believe he meant no disrespect to the owners. I think he was trying to say that being a football manager can throw up all kinds of new or unexpected situations which you have to deal with on a regular basis. In this respect he's correct.
He's still a relatively new manager and some of the events occurring over the past few years would test a seasoned manager.
Yesterday's game was stopped after players had battled through for 77 mins!
The ref should have halted the match much earlier if he felt it necessary; the rain was torrential and showed no signs of letting up. Beckwith's injury was undoubtedly a blow though.
Thought Southend's manager was bang out of order - pecking the fourth official's head for much of the game, especially once we took the lead.
The National League do need to clarify rules on match abandonment. |
