Club statement

Apologies if this has already been shared but what an awful, awful clip from an interview with Simon Gague. Yes other clubs have been down and bounced back, but there's plenty that haven't and it's almost like he's trying to downplay the gravity of the situation. On top of that people that work for the club will lose their jobs, not the players or the board but the low paid people seen as 'disposable' by the board at such a difficult time financially and it's like he doesn't care. Then to laugh at his own comment about not having the re-election system anymore was infuriating, it's not a time for jokes and light heartedness it's a time to own up to the mistakes he's made and where it's got us and do what he needs to do to put it right, which I'm thinking is to hand the reigns over as long as it's to the right person because he clearly doesn't have a clue.

I don't post on here because I very rarely get to games and I was away over the weekend so didn't see any of the immediate aftermath online but that interview has made me so so angry.

Could the game be cancelled?

Thanks for the advice, starting form near Chelmsford. Woken up to about 4 inches of snow and it's still snowing so not looking promising for trains or driving!

I was supposed to be travelling on Greater Anglia but it looks like their trains might be stopping at 10. I've only recently moved to Essex, has anyone got any suggestions for the best alternative, is there somewhere I can drive to and get a different line into London that I will be able to get back out of?

No and he looks a lot fitter than his sub appearance against Blackpool so maybe. Done on for Inman who along with Hendo has been pretty anonymous.

I can't remember Hendo having a touch! Andrew is winning a lot in the air, I would say Rathbone has been our best player so far.

They've started well and looked the more threatening.

We've got into a couple of decent positions but final ball not been good enough so far, particularly from Bunney.

I also thought his reaction of pointing to the lino after saving the penalty was unnecessary and unprofessional. It may have been soft but we aren't talking about a blatant dive with no contact that the officials got horribly wrong, just fell into the 'seen them given, seen them not' category for me.

One thing I have noticed on about the 12th viewing of the goals, for their opener the whole time the highlights show the players waiting for the corner to be taken Cannon is screaming and pointing at the player who runs into the area unmarked to win the initial header. Hard to tell but looked like it might have been Inman who followed a few yards behind the Donny player.

Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things but it could have prevented their goal if the guy had been marked.

I thought the pick was the new Jordan Williams, considering he hadn't trained with the squad I though he was very good. Covered lits of ground and did the simple things well, looked very promising.

Daniels is man mountain, looked strong and good in the air in his cameo.

Kitching I didn't really notice but I think that was in a good way. Like Williams covered ground, made a few good blocks and didnt give the ball away.

The original Jordan Williams looked impressive and I thought our most dangerous attacker pre red card. Good touch, rarely gives the ball away and good vision. His corners were very good as well and canavan should have at least hit the target from 1 in the second half.

Moore already has his own thread, don't need to say any more there.

Done doesn't quite look the player he was in his last spell, can't decide whether its lack of match sharpness or needing a goal to give him some confidence. In fairness he hasn't had a lot of service yet either.

All in all I think we have some very good prospects there and the likes of Williams x2 and kitching will only improve as they get used to league football.

I would say being 'in control' is the ability to change/pull out of a challenge to avoid injuring a player, once you are off the ground you lose that ability

Every fan is going to have a level as bias, anything up to completely deluded. Best way of looking at it, as others have said, is think how we would react on the receiving end of a tackle like that. If a Southend player had gone in like that I would have been calling for a red, whether our player rolled around on the floor, jumped straight up, or was actually hurt.

Defended very well after the sending off, lots of blocks and coped very well with pretty much all of the balls that came into the box. Moore's handling is very good, if he can work on his distribution he could be a quality signing.

It's not even like he had been kicked all over the place, or been on the end of a bad tackle himself like when he has retaliated in the past. Not that he should in those situations either with his experience but you can understand it more. Literally no excuses for this one.

Interestingly when Hendo walked past Hill there was no handshake, Hill didn't seem to look at him. Then after he was past Hill just shook his head.

Probably saying it was harsh because he won the ball but he jumped into the tackle, it will have been given for the intent/lack of control

Agree, no need for him to dive in like that. midway inside their half with their player not even going towards our goal.

He is giving a lot of very soft free kicks but I also think we need to be a bit smarter. They are going down from the slightest touch and I feel there have been times where we could just stand off a bit more to not give them the opportunity to go down.

Tbf the ref has also let a couple go where it has been blatantly obvious they have gone down too easily.

Williams got a silly booking for kicking the ball away when there was no need, they weren't trying to take a quick free kick or anything. Needs to learn not to do stuff like that because he's got to be very careful now.

It was Raff who the ref spoke to after he gave it but it was hard to see what actually happened

Free kicks mid way inside their own half being pumped into our box by the keeper!

They are throwing themselves to the floor at the slightest contact. They seem very direct so I think their game plan is to win as many free kicks as possible and get the ball in the box. Might be after identifying our weakness at set pieces
