Super stuff again. Humps is a natural and it's really interesting to see the current match day experience for players from an inside perspective. Keep up the great work and the great form on the pitch too 👍
I'd say the opposite and go for the Charlton approach. Going 1-0 down within a minute is very rare occurance - to do it 2 years running against the same opposition on the same ground is freaky. Something like that happening can't have anything to do with how you approach a game - just rank bad defending or bad luck or a bit of both.
He is exactly what we needed at the time after Hill being so devisive with the fans. Being a mate to the players and being a nice likeable fella is a lovely trait to have but as Fitz said you need to be a tvvat at times and let the players know who is the boss.
Is he too nice a guy? I can't ever imagine him losing his temper or yelling at the players. I know football has changed but managers mostly have the ability to be an arsehole at times - BBM isn't that.
Realistically we should have lost all 3. 0-3 at ht v Crewe, Bazunu's save at 4-4 on Tuesday and today Wigan missed glaring chances to go 1-3 up and 2-4 up. If O'Connell and McShane are going to be missing for weeks we need to bring in a commanding centre back ASAP.
McLaughlin is so frustrating. Today was similar to his cameo v Newcastle last season. He's really superb getting forward, beat his man every time and won us 2 or 3 good corners. Peach of a cross for Humphrys wonderful header too. Just don't know what todays exertions will have cost him though - no one knows when he's going to break down.
Talking of free kicks. It's been bugging me, even more so since Humphrys belted in that beauty on Tuesday night - at the end of the Crewe game we had a free kick from similar range and very surprisingly Humphrys didn't fancy a shot at goal? Morley played it out wide to Baah and it came to nothing and the game ended. It just seemed a strange decision so late in the game not to have a free shot at goal.
That does happen a fair bit when you get a high scoring 1st half. Very rarely if a team is 4 or 5 up at ht they replicate it in the 2nd half. I guess the job has been done and they can just have a stroll.
