I have not seen any games yet this season so I can only go on what I have seen others say on here. Looking back at the retained list https://rochdaleafc.co.uk/reta over which there was little disagreement, I reckon at least half of those on the list of those retained under contract are now considered not up to League Two standard on here, including Mani D.
This suggests that last season we did very well to keep up with York if most of their squad is doing well in League 2, and I think this was clear from the end of last season when we got of jail any number of times. Hence, it is not surprising that we have had to recruit a lot of players, which will inevitably take time to gel, especially with all the injuries. I am hoping that when we can get more of the injured/unfit players more used to training and playing together then we will see an improvement - Saturday would be a good time for this!
I stand corrected! Even though he is way before my time I had assumed for some reason that he was the captain and wore number 4 usually. Not sure why.

I would also love to see that video of the Barnsley game. I remember seeing in the paper that it was going to be on the weekly highlights programme but it was not shown in my region (down south) much to my disappointment.
Apart from the grainy footage of the League Cup final surely that has got to be the earliest video of Dale, certainly in colour. I recognise Billy Rudd (4) and Reg Jenkins (10) but not exactly sure about the others. Pity they did not show a bit more of the game.
Although I didn't want us to get relegated and definitely wanted promotion after such a season, I must admit I am going to miss the National League because of the different places to go to and I rather like non-league football, being at the top of the pyramid. I realise that puts me in a small minority. On the one hand there was nothing like the celebrations after the win yet perversely seeing all those familiar names in League 2 does not really fill me with that much excitement. It's good to be back but it is back to normality in a way when the dust settles. I am not sure I am making sense.
However, the bigger picture is that is much better for the club to be in the EFL to build on the momentum built by the team and the Ogdens and groups like Dale 1907. The connection between the manager, team and fans is unprecedented in my lifetime. I do feel that despite the extraordinary points tally there is quite a bit of work to take the team to the next level. The last bit of the season has shown limitations which our amazing will to win and scoring late goals has covered over to a certain extent. Hopefully Jim can sort this out over the summer.
Anyway it's still time to enjoy the moment and be positive about the future, so I think it is worth reposting this, which seems even more apposite at the moment:
I remember watching him play against us as a member of a fantastic Northampton team that beat us 5-0 at their old cricket ground home. Must have been around 1986 or 1987. Seems a very long time ago. I think he scored quite a lot that season.
Watched the game back on DAZN. Hard to see them scoring as it looked very comfortable. Crazy that both us and York aren't certainties for promotion given the results we are having.
I would be one of those season-ticket holders. I have been only able to get to one home game this season for various reasons mainly to do with work, but I live a long way from Rochdale. I am surprised there as many season-ticket holders missing each game as most can't be in the same situation as me.
As you work in this sort of area, is an attenuation tank under a new pitch a long-term solution? I have no idea how they work or how much they cost but I have heard they are used to help with flooding.
That video is all very well but how often does it actually work even with top players? There were three examples in the Premier League on Saturday where it went horribly wrong. There must be less risky tactics to achieve the same end.
I admit not knowing much about tactics but it seems to me that the risk to the pressing team is much lower than that to the team with the goalkick which has to get its movement and touches spot on to get the play out and put the opposition on the back foot. Looks better in theory on a board than on a pitch in my opinion.
Like others, when I arrived I thought we had better win to justify such an extreme selection. I also remembered one of the guys on the podcast predicting he would change nine of the team in one of the games so he was almost right.
After we lost I hoped he would at least acknowledge the error of doing this in a league game. Instead we got him saying that Brackley did a smash and grab raid as if it was like when rock bottom Darlo beat us at Spotland in our promotion season. While it is true that their goals were their only real chances I felt they were pretty comfortable throughout and their keeper was not really tested. Perhaps it would have been different if we hadn't given away a penalty shortly after equalising. A Brackley fan I spoke to after the game thought we had wasted too much time passing the ball around between ourselves rather than attacking them and I had to agree. It was noticeable how their fans sometimes jeered us when we passed it back yet again.
Also, we have had performances and results like that against bigger clubs often enough ourselves over the years not to be patronising about it when we are on the receiving end. I didn't like him putting the opposition down like that, especially after he had in effect told them we think we can beat you with our B team.
On a separate note I thought Brackley were very welcoming from the guy in the ticket office who sold me a programme to the steward who greeted me after I went through the turnstiles. My other non- game related observation is that the programme was very good. The 4-page history of Dale was very well-written and so full of detail it could have been written by TVOS. There were also a couple of pages about the culture of the club, town and fanbase that was well researched and captured us well, I thought.
Watching him play against Oxford City at the moment. Didn't recognise him to start with. D'Mani Mellor has come on and so has Andy Fensome's son Lewis, who looks like him.
