| News Comment | Southampton Midfielder Shocked By Fans Booing At St Mary's at 14:42:00
It’s good to here from positive supporters - there are many saints fans who back what Downes has said and you make some excellent points. Do many of us have unrealistic expectations? Most fans would be happy with 7 from 9 points. |
| News Comment | Will Russell Martin Be The 7th Manager In A Row Hounded Out Of Southampton at 17:26:42
There were certain fans calling for Martin’s removal after our first loss! Who on earth do they think will be attracted to a club that, like Watford, gets rid of their manager after a few months. I’m as disappointed as the next fan by our recent showing, but I believe a manager needs to be given a season at least to build a team. There’s only one thing worse than poor results and that’s a large vocal section of our fans who gripe and moan and imagine that there’s a magic bullet out there. They’ve forgotten what the word ‘supporter’ means. Reading their constant bulge drives me to despair. |
| News Comment | Southampton At Middlesbrough The Verdict at 14:51:03
Watching saints is painful at the moment but sacking the manager after a few months in charge is pushing the panic button way too early. Plus what message does it give to future potential managers - if you don’t turn it around in a very short time you are gone; it’s not an appealing proposition. We’re becoming like Watford, no stability, no plan, no future. Managers have to be given time to instill their philosophy. |
| News Comment | Southampton Likely To Move Quickly To Replace Jones at 09:32:33
Marsch and Gerard would be disastrous. To appoint a manager who was on the brink of taking Leeds down - madness. Gerard did well in the Mickey Mouse league but was useless as villa’s boss would be equally insane. |
| News Comment | Southampton At Brentford The Verdict at 10:52:02
Ian wright has a real go at NJ in the papers and tells him to stop throwing players under the bus BUT deal with any problems within the club - not by airing his dirty linen in public. Whatever the outcome of all of this - he’s either going to win the players over or (more likely imo) put their backs up, he has to learn discretion and the basics of PR. He’s dripping blood at the moment and it’s doing him no favours at all |
| News Comment | Saints Said To Have Agreed Terms For Striker at 12:22:20
Watch a few YouTube’s. This guy is not what we need at all! His stats are poor, his goal scoring record is meager and his final ball is as woeful as Djenepo’s. On top of this the papers are suggesting that saints are willing to offload Che - to a relegation rival! This is all crazy. Why is it that every saints’ fan knows that we need a out and out striker, but the club’s managers and owners remain clueless! Unfathomable. If buying this guy is our last roll of the dice, we’re heading for the championship and at some speed. |
| News Comment | Nathan Redmond Could Be Off To Turkey at 10:34:13
Completely agree with JGH. The comment from permanent ray of sunshine halftimeorange sums up the awful negativity that Redmond’s faced. For me he’s more often than not been our most exciting player. I wish him well. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Watford The Verdict at 13:06:49
Wrath - you seem awfully ANGRY dude. Chill a little, let the season get UNDERWAY before you BLOW A GASKET, or consider supporting the ones in blue DOWN the road. Is this why you call yourself WRATH? It’s like listening to an old timey fire and brimstone preacher |
| News Comment | Southampton At Manchester City The Verdict at 12:09:25
I really try to be positive despite Saints making it a difficult thing to maintain, but I have to say that the defending last night was truly awful. Mahrez is good but our central defenders made him look like Messi. Despite having two to three of our defenders in front of him when he went for goal he was able to almost casually pass the ball into the net. McCarthy never got close to stopping his shots. McCarthy does not inspire trust. He is not a commanding presence and our defenders always appear to be trying to protect him - this isn't the case with FF. |
| News Comment | Hasenhuttl Expresses His Love For Southampton at 15:15:18
Schatfield- the whole of Southampton is a housing estate? Really?!! You only support Saints because you went to The Dell... right... It’s okay matey, the club will survive the loss of your half-hearted endorsement of both the club and the city. I hear Pompey could do with a few more fans... |
| News Comment | Hasenhuttl Has A Big Call To Make On Nathan Redmond For Villa Game at 10:27:00
Redmond has been a great player for us over the years. He has clearly lost his shooting boots, but this is temporary. Dropping him won't give him the confidence boost he needs. He needs to play through this barren patch and this seems to be Ralph's philosophy too. It is not as though he disappears from the pitch when he does play. He is grafting hard. When a goal or two goes in I am confident that a player of his quality will find his mojo. |
| News Comment | Saints At Chelsea The Verdict at 11:06:37
The second goal we let in was a mess, but players like Werner, who was great, will score goals like his first one against better teams than us. The way he drifted past our defenders was exactly what Ings has done so many times - and against top sides. Nick you seem to think that if we let any goals in at all, we are a disaster. Our defence tightened up in the second half - even Lampard said his team didn’t have the same space. We went to Chelsea who have a bench that costs more than our entire squad, and we came from behind twice. I’d say that was a very good result. |
| News Comment | Saints V Tottenham Hotspur The Verdict at 19:56:19
Nick will probably shut up about Stephens when we string together a few good results and he hits form. That’s what usually happens. Your constant bashing is do misplaced and boring. As so many have pointed out, this was High Line Ralph’s fault - tactical naïveté at it’s worse. When spurs Sussed us out and played through ball after through ball, scoring goal after goal, you change your tactics! |
| News Comment | Saints Looking To Offload Sofiane Boufal On The Cheap at 06:21:52
The difference between being an average footballer and a good one is consistency. Look at a past player like Steven Davis - week in, week out he performed to the best of his ability, giving his all to the side. He was 100% reliable - the same cannot be said about Boufal and that's why, despite flashes of brilliance, he'll always be remembered as a nearly man. |
| News Comment | Another Twist In The Weston McKennie Transfer at 20:41:36
There is evidence that Saints were interested but it is also clear that no offer was formally made. Seems to me the McKennie’s agent is the only one who has played a blinder. Everyone now knows about the player. Is he as good as people say? Who knows, but his transfer fee will reflect his hype. We’ve all been suckered by a well-oiled marketing campaign. |
