Norwegian Dale fans at San Spotty?

I think their Norwegian flag is a permanent fixture in the far right (facing) of the main stand.

Ah Paraguay. Proper cloggers. Like the good old days when all Latin teams played like that.
Was it Italy v Chile, in black & white days, that was deemed to be the dirtiest match ever?

Hydration breaks. The very unsubtle way FIFA managed to bend to America's wish of having quarterly advertisment breaks. Thin end of the wedge for me.

The head -to- head result being the first deciding factor for teams on the same points also made a number of final games redundant. As playing for a better goal difference became irrelevant. Another stupid rule change.

Surely the Swiss keeper could have saved that: or, at least, tried to. He even seems to pull his hand away. Bit odd that.

Looking forward to Brazil v Morocco. Interesting to see how those two teams have evolved: from Brazil's downturn and Morocco's decent showing at the last World Cup;.

Ee. I wasn't impressed wìth RSA at all, Yorks. The epitome of these extra teams bringing.nothing to the party and watering down the competion.
I love an underdog but 20-odd of them?!

Ian Watson Set To Become New Rochdale Manager?

Yep. Sounds good. The only snag with getting a decent up-and-comer, though, is we won't hang on to him for long: whereas you have more of a chance of hanging on to a has- been that can still cut it in the lower divisions.
You can't do right for doing wrong sometimes.

Just pondering how we played last season. We grumbled about the passing across the back etc. I mentioned my neck had got sore because it was like watching tennis.
It culminated with Carlisle fans Oh-leying us. Didn't matter. We won.
But, our style of play seemed to change from that point - a bit less passing across our penalty area.
Where I am going with this is, this seemed to be the onset of our shakey defensive performances.
Or am I doing a James (sorry James) and overthinking things?

Well, I lean more towards Judd's line of thinking: I don't wish Stockport well. They, after all, have had previous with blagging a good manager and players off us, which set us back. That then, inevitably, translates to Jim doing badly at Stockport. Hard luck.
This might sound like sour grapes but it isn't. I am just moving on - as Jim has done.
I always rated Jim: even as a player. He gave his all and respected our club and its fans and I will always love him for what he did for our club. I did think he might have liked to, at least, see if he could stay another season and see out his (Imho) remit to try to get us back into L1; but the Sirens beckoned him elsewhere.
I am concerned about losing our players. Might some of them feel shafted, having re-signed assuming Jim would still be here?
Anyway, let the new adventure begin. This time I don't feel quite as abandoned and rudderless as on previous occassions.
Thanks again, Jim, for a fantastic season and for all you did prior to that. They can't take that away from you.

Jim leaves
at 17:13 5 Jun 2026

I really hope this all ends up as pure speculation. For Jim to leave now would, surely, arrest the momentum most promoted teams get from going up. After all the hard graft of dragging ourselves out of the NL it seems such a shame to, seemingly, put the brakes on our surge.
Not sure if anyone knows this but, how often do newly promoted teams from the NL go up within a couple of years of promotion? It feels like a lot of them do.

I haven't forgotten this broken promise by Celtic after blagging a 15 year old (I think) off us.

3 up, 3 down
at 22:01 20 May 2026

If we are considering the National League as division 5 then I would advocate 3 up and down between divisions 1 and 2 and 4 up and down between divsion 2 and the National League (notionally div 5).
Some form of play-off for the final spot to be kept.
That would keep the bigger teams happier of a more immediate return and give the unfancied teams a bit more of a chance to try their luck in the league.

There's a Non-League paper, sold Nationally, that should give the game a good write up.

Just minded me of a comment made when Rochdale's streets were thronged with people waiting for the Queen's visit. Some wag, reputedly, said, "What's going on here then? Have Rochdale scored a goal?"

Come on: own up. Which one of you was it?
