It was collected for families affected directly and not for any restoration work

It ended up at 150k , 2 million today in value
Tips were cleared between 68 and 70
In 1997 the 150 k was returned
Thirty years later
Took queen eight days to visit

As a sixteen yr old , returning home from work in a shared car, the news hit us like a sledgehammer
The way the funds were used to flatten the tips was typical of Wilson’s duplicitous administration and in George Thomas a bible punching coward . A disgusting human being

Barristers won’t be instructed if they “ lose” cases , ergo it is in their own interest to win
When Criminals walk free , as they do, its job done
That is what it’s about , nowt else
Justice is simply a hackneyed phrase that it is side issue
To be convicted now, one has to be very unlucky indeed
A tiny percentage of crimes are detected then taken to court and proved guilty
You have no idea of the evil out there and how they manipulate
It is a circus and a lucrative one
As for juries, it depends on who is selected and challenged
Reasonable doubt ? Totally subjective
What’s doubtful for one is clear cut for another
I thank you for a decent exchange but I dont think we can take this thread further as it already has seeped into personal attacks
However I know several barristers and played squash with two
Decent blokes and clever with it

Why would someone WANT to defend mobsters and mobsters
Imagine defending the Southport kid murderer who , whilst in prison, has tried to maim and kill
This is my bloody point ffs
Of course we need defending having committed crime but I question the mindset of those who make a very good living out of it all
And defending includes pleading for the most lenient sentence possible
This is seen as a victory

Professional criminals would make mincemeat of lovely people like you ,the type who pine for vicious scum rather that victims
You totally miss my point as do the others on this god forsaken thread
Professional criminals will have the “ strongest” defence because they will have the most vicious wordsmiths in their silks creating confusion and obfuscation in juries
Witnesses have to be strong especially females in sexual assault cases when every trick in the book is deployed . |

What I do not like are criminals being afforded an opportunity to worm out of a crime by the sophistry of barristers
