Hasenhuttl Imposes His Discipline On The Squad
at 10:58:15

It's all money motivated that makes players stay at a club and "fight for a place" rather than move on and play regular football, and in many cases who can blame them. It's because clubs have paid over the odds and too high wages. Unfortunately Saints seem to have done this more than most with the likes of Carillo, Boufal, Lemina etc showing our poor or desperate transfer activity in the past. Let's hope, and it looks likely, we make better transfer moves under the new management.

Saints At Manchester United The Verdict
at 15:45:48

It's always good to see us score 2 great long range goals, I just hope that with our strikers missing or not scoring that we are keeping a few more in the locker to use when up against lesser opposition and when such a strike could win us all 3 points.

Barren Transfer Window Doesn't Mean Disaster For Saints
at 10:57:13

One of Ralph's first comments when he arrived was that the squad was too big, so he could well have been told when he was recruited that he had to get rid of a number of players. He has done that but I can't believe he did not want to bring in players that he knew and probably had worked with. So I reckon he is probably a little disappointed but he has confidence in himself and his players some of whom, e.g Ward Prowse, he has transformed, he has also given youth a chance, but I wish he had held on to Hesketh who did well at Burton and is now playing in a lower league. He's backing himself and we should back him, then if we stay up he could well be given more support from the board in the summer.

Saints V Everton The Verdict
at 13:22:52

5 o'clock 8 mins injury time and was losing a 2-0 lead going to be our default position? No !that monkey is off our back and the old Saints of pre 2 years ago are back in town. If the transformation of players under Ralph can be continued then who knows how good the likes of Elyounoussy and even Holdt can be, let alone our youngsters. 10 days to regroup and lets make the most of our favourable run of fixtures coming up and climb the table.

Who Might Go In The Saints Clear Out !
at 09:05:40

I'm not sure we get back Carillo and Boufal if they are on season long contracts. I would like to know if Ralph thinks they would fit into his style of playing? I would also like to think he can get a couple of players that he knows from the Bundesleague. However our perilous position at the foot of the prem makes it difficult to transfer in or out.

Hughes Still After New Signings But Admits Departures Are Needed !
at 15:34:49

What a shame we panicked and spent hard cash and paid over the odds on the likes of Carillo and to a lesser extent Boufal, as we can now only offload them on loan when a full transfer would allow us more opportunities in the market. I think we should hold out for a descent price for Clasie but keep Targett and Gallagher. We may have to take a big hit on Forster and Davis, Long, McQueen or Reed won't command any large fees. I think we need a bettter forward than Ings Class strikers cost a lot of money which I don't think we have.

Hughes Impressed By Saints Transfer System
at 21:40:04

I think the more positive transfer window this season is because we no longer have a yes man as manager but someone who probably negotiated a transfer budget and a full say in who was coming when he signed his contract. Hughes is not going to be pushed around like our last 2 managers but is more like Koeman. He doesn't appear however to have gone back to Stoke possibly because of disagreements with the players, which may or may not prove to be a negative if things start going wrong. So far so good and lets hope the new players hit the ground running.

The Ugly Inside TV ! Transfer Talk ! Armstrong In Targett Out ?
at 13:03:40

Looks like Les and Co could still be in charge of transfers. I had hoped MH would have been having his say and we would have seen more exciting moves. Armstrong a squad player, Targett one to keep, Tadic difficult to replace especially after last night's performance.

Probably no better than what we already have in midfield. Does this mean we are going to offload someone else as well as Tadic ?

Saints Linked With Swansea Defender
at 14:33:20

Because of our dithering rather than dynamic approach we adopt via Les to our transfer dealings we often miss out on the the best player we are after and end up getting second best as Santos says with regard to Maguire last year. I was hoping that the more positive character of Mark Hughes would pressurise Les into making quicker decisions. This remains to be seen.

What Do Saints Need To Do To Finish The Job On Sunday !
at 11:43:27

Even Saints with the season we have had should be ok. If Huddersfield can get a point at City then a point will do it for us at SMS. However City rested a few last night against Brighton and could bring all their main guns on Sunday. Unity between fans and players and coaches will do the job.

Saints At Swansea The Verdict
at 21:12:50

Obviously agree with all positive comments above. Hats off to Hughes and boy was he emotional at the end like a true Saint. Now to get a new sofa I've been hiding behind this one long enough and the damage done when Gabbi scored last night well it was worth it. Let's hope Hughes stays and we stop getting foreign managers we've never heard of and get a no nonsense Brit who can motivate and bring the club together.

Saints Internationals Linked With Summer Exits
at 23:39:21

With the performances against Newcastle and West Ham still in my memory, there are a number of players who do not have the necessary respect for the shirt or who deserve to put on the shirt. I think there must be a clean out in the team and the management and if we have to start from scratch again it will be worth it if it means we will have committed people that we the fans can support. Having said that there are still 7 games left for some to redeem themselves and show the character and commitment that has been lacking especially in the last few months. I think there are a number that I would like to still see here that could form the nucleus of a descent squad next year but others have been a great disappointment and I think we and they know who they are. For these rumours to be circulating now shows what a shabby industry professional football has become.

Day 30 ! Saints Fans Not Happy
at 19:10:18

No surprise that we've come up short in our offer for Promes and no surprise no mention of any other signings. It would be great to walk into SMS tomorrow knowing that the board are ambitious and want to do all they can to keep us out of what looks like its going to be the mother and father of all relegation battles. Moscow's not round the corner to get a medical done and a player signed. Let's hope we have some good news to give us a boost so that we can raise the roof when the teams come out. COYS's.

Saints V Watford The Verdict
at 10:44:43

I was late renewing my seat so sat in another area of the ground, but the views of the fans were the same. There is universal dislike as shown on the comments here about the manager's tactics, blimey we were dominating the game against a poor Watford and ended up playing at best 5-2-3 but more likely 5-4-1. There has been little change for most of the season, we know what we are getting each week and it's not good as the results show. Squeaky bottom time this week as we need 4 points minimum.
