Manchester United To Launch Bid For Sadio Mane
at 10:15:52

Heard on 5 live this morning that the club have admitted an approach for Mane, that doesn't mean we will sell, but a high bid would appeal to our current philosophy and thats the worry.
I think Mane needs to round his game, bags of potential but not yet consistent enough. Manure won't have the patience to finish him. Very good point made about clubs deliberately trying to weaken us. If Mane did go, how long is Koeman going to put up with it? We will struggle to keep Wanyama, JRod (if he's back to form) and Mane but a good European campaign could do many good things for us and thats why we keep Mane to help achieve that.

All The Lowdown On Vitesse
at 14:02:01

At least RK will know their strengths and weakness's and our players will have a good pitch in a half decent stadium. Mirrors and sockets in the dressing room for pre match pruning and pro stewards/security looking after the bling. Think the players will prefer it to some eastern european cabbage growing community where the security is a gummy commie partisan with a shotgun.

Saints Make Fourth Summer Signing
at 18:07:00

Underwhelmed too, a player valued at a million quid at 25 years old really can't be much kop. I agree the squad needs to increase in size to allow for rotation in a season that will be tough, but all i can see is a weak point. Hooiveld scared the hell out of me every time he played but it wasn't really his fault, he's a lower championship division 1 standard player pushed above his level and thats my gut feeling with this player, lets hope he's just there as cover for cover.

Spurs After Schneiderlin Now We Will See His Motivation.
at 15:23:15

MS is a great football player and does deserve a shot at champions league football whilst he's at the top of his game. At the moment departure for a CL club would see him leave St Mary's with a big thanks and a good luck. It would leave a very different taste in the mouth if he went to Spuds or similar. We shouldn't be selling to our closest rivals anyway. It would be a massive feel good boost for the club and everyone associated with it if he said he wants to stay and help us achieve greater things, he could become a legend in an age when few are made with their mercenary approach to the game.

Time For A Slice Of Luck
at 10:55:05

Injuries have caused problems but i think we've been lucky in the table, when we've lost the teams competing just above and below us have often failed to make gains. Refereeing in general across the whole season has been awful.
I think we could get something today, we're better against teams that come at us.

Time For An On Field Leader To Emerge
at 12:47:32

Bit Harsh on Fonte, he's had a good relationship with Toby A but had to deal with two weaker players in Yoshi and Gardos, he's bound to have less confidence in these players and feel a greater defensive burden on his own shoulders. I'd rather he kept his concentration instead of running round the field biggin every one up.
Most of the senior players left last summer or are injured/suspended, there aren't or certainly weren't against Sheffield many on the pitch, Clyne and Wanyama are young, Long and Bertie are new boys, JWP was up for it and clearly wanted it, Morgan was about the only other senior player on the pitch but i suspect 'his head' is somewhere else.
We've been bitten by reality, the fixture list put us high up the league, a run of tough games has dented our confidence, although in most seasons we wouldn't expect much from ManU/City, Arsenal etc, and we've been unfortunate to meet them in quick succession, Burnley played us at the right time for them, and we would have beaten Sheffield had Cork and Davis been fit and Lambert not stupidly sold for a dream. One man can't restore confidence overnight, a win or two and a couple of signings will help, but ultimately we are destined for a lower top ten finish and it will be the usual suspects in the top 4/5, with the exception of Liverpool haha.

Saints V Manchester United The Verdict
at 11:46:31

Very good point from SaintJez about the timing of the substitution, FF should have done better though. I guess Mane will eventually give way to a fit Rodrigues, he has failed to impress and i agree that he just needs to take a breath and calm down a bit, i still hope after a season to adjust he will come good but at the moment he's not offering much. We did have our chances though but were not clinical enough, and i too was shouting shoot ffs. I though Clyne was excellent as was big Vic who is so much better with a season under his belt.
Truth is we are not a top four team, and thats fine, 7th or above would be a great season. The table is starting to look a bit more usual, Man City and Chelsea are a class apart but every point has been bought with millions and millions of pounds, at least we are sustainable and perhaps in a season or two we can get in or around the 4th/5th/6th spot, my worry is that we will get raided in every transfer window and never really be more than lower top ten, we did (with hindsight) as bad as it felt at the time sell well in the summer, but i think we miss SRL, twenty minutes to go and in need of a goal he's a good player to have in the armoury, even if you halved his goals and assist from last season to 5 and 5 thats surely worth what we sold him for?

Can Saints Put Out A Competitive Team Against Manchester United
at 13:32:44

I think moving Tadic into a more central role will be interesting, i think he will find it easier to link with Pelle who is up against a poor ManU CB pairing, so going through the middle may be to our advantage. Our game plan has been to push the fullbacks forward but the ball in has been so poor its largely ineffective and has been worked out by the more switched on managers. Change of shape such as a straight 4-4-2 or 4-1-3-2 with Wanyama playing a sweeper role (particularly as Rooney likes to drop into the hole), could be effective.

Saints At Aston Villa The Verdict
at 10:34:57

Mane looks off balance and rushed, he needs time i think to adjust to the league and like Wanyama a season will improve him. We can't carry passengers though and i thought he should have been subbed much earlier.
Don't think its fair to criticise Pelle as service into the box was dreadful, he never really got a clear chance, i thought he was very strong in winning headers from long clearances and goal kicks.
Spiderman seemed to deep, a position better suited to Cork with Morgan pushed up.
Villa were awful as were Leicester, i'm looking forward to City to get an idea of just how far we've come.

Hodgson Should Send Out Right Message And Play Clyne

Makes me laugh that Hodgson thinks he can be be so clique from such a small pool of talent!
Jack Cork - best English defensive midfielder, but no play Wiltshere out of position.

Why Saints Can Finish In The Top Four This Season

We failed against the top teams last season because we were predictable. We now have a manager with a plan A,B and C and who can react and make changes as he feels fit, he also has a deeper squad to achieve this.

International Break Has Come At Right Time For Saints Says Koeman
at 12:57:37

Sounds like a bit of kidology from Koeman to me, the momentum could be lost without the daily banter on the training ground and all the travelling involved for our players. Personally give me the premiership over a bunch of mickey mouse internationals, never thought i'd support my club more than my country but England bores me and Saints excite me, put Jack Cork, bertrand, JWP, FF, JRod (fit), Chambers and Clyne in the England team and i'd watch because we'd win something!

Saints V Leicester City The Verdict
at 13:27:42

In the first half i felt one good ball in and we'd score, delivery into the box wasn't that great tho. Bertram and Marne worked very well together down the left hand side and i was willing Marne to drive into the box, he's so fast and tricky a trailing Leicester leg could easily lead to a penalty. Clyne had acres of space down the right and constantly made himself available and remained an attacking threat throughout the game. Wanyama though was immense, i agree his distribution has improved massively, i think he just needed a season to get the pace of the league and i think Marne with a season behind him will be a huge player.

Saints Title Odds Slashed
at 13:11:08

I think we need to assess after the tough xmas/new year run of games, if we're still in the top 6 then i think we could stay there. I'd be well happy with 7th as i fully hold my hands up to panicking and becoming very disillusioned in the summer, couldn't be happier to have got it so wrong! and please forgive any stupid comments i may have made. Going to the Leicester game, can't wait!

Krueger And Kat Kept Their Word
at 17:38:35

I have been critical, but feel i'm only guilty of loving my club. I had the feeling with the young players we had that we were akin to the young Manchester United team that Ferguson built an empire on. I had never felt so excited at what we were capable of with just a few additions. Of course champions league was a way off but not unachievable with the core of players we had, after all the majority have gone to champions league clubs.
Most disappointing is that we are Southampton who dared to dream and have been quickly and effectively put down, MP leaving didn't bother me, i think we reached the limit of his talent and because he was so one dimensional tactically we would have lost more games this season, having been found out. Its just the feeling that in future seasons any players we develop, discover and bring on will always be cherry picked by the big five and where does that leave us? Perhaps playing in the premiership is our reward?, it is after all a great place to be playing football. I am happy that we are secure, we have a future and that is down to the board, i just have a little whimsical pang for what might have been.
