Time For Sport Republic To Rip Up The Manager Blueprint And Appoint Experience 6th Nov 2025 19:04
When Sport Republic arrived Southampton FC had an experienced manager in Ralph Hasenhuttl, he was the longest serving manager in the club's history in the previous 30 years when he was sacked on this day 3 years ago, now we need more of the same with the next appointment. 14

No brainer and no disrespect to Tonda but he is not that and apparently in consideration for the position?
We all know what happens if we dont make the right choice now

Not sure you can put Gerrard and Rooney in the same bracket

Tonda looks the part, and the players were fighting more yesterday and had a bit if resilience about them. However, Selles won his first game last, and then look how that ended.

Tonda isn't experienced enough, too young, never played football.to a high level, never been a manager, let alone managing in the championship. We need to.appoint an experienced man, like Nick says.

Gary O'Neil has suddenly become favourite with may bookies.

But that's not surprising. Jones also did a great job at Luton, BUT n the Championship. He had never managed in the PL, let alone a pressurised relegation battle, again you have to appoont a man with experience of the thing you are trying to achieve and experience of the level you are playing at. Nathan Jones was out his depth as much as Still was. For me, it's not rocket science, the club is always trying to be clever.

Good news about O'Neil.
I've also been reading some behind the scenes stuff about Romeo with Shane Long praising him to the hilt about attitude and training etc, and how great it was gaving him in the changing room
Let's just hope it all gets together well and we get that play off spot.
Don't worry I'll probably wake up from this dream soon

Good article Nick, agree with it. Enough of experimenting. As you point out the silence of those at the top is deafening, it comes across like they just don’t care.

I can see many fans just giving up if this goes wrong from here . A really important decision needs to be made. Nothing less than a proven experienced manager will do now but we also have to be realistic because at the moment we are not an attractive proposition for many big names.

Poll: Would you take an Fa Cup win if it meant relegation to the championship ?
