Hi all,
This is David and Stuart, Peter's sons. We regret to inform you that last night he passed away in hospital after a lengthy but brave battle with cancer.
He took great joy in this community and as you all know was a regular contributor and eternal optimist for all things Colchester United, even after 46+ years!
We will keep his account open until the end of the year.
Thank you for all of your support for Dad and for reading his (lengthy) posts, we don't know where you found the time!

So sorry to hear this really sad news. Durham is, and has always been, a huge part of this community. The most positive of Col U fans and this message board will miss his posts, updates and input terribly. I have enjoyed your Dad's company on many occasions over the years, and always excellent company he was too - even had the pleasure of meeting you two on occasion. That is shockingly sad news.
Thank you for informing us, at what must be a terrible time for you. I think we all knew your Dad had been poorly for some time but I guess many, like me, had no idea how serious things were. Condolences to your family, I’m sure all our thoughts are with you as you come to terms with such a huge loss.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Peter at several away games. He will be greatly missed and will leave a very big hole in our community, but I’m sure his warmth and kindness will live on in our memories for many years to come.
It is no exaggeration to say that my life has been more enjoyable as a result of knowing Durham online for many, many years and for meeting Peter in person in recent years.

I’ve known of Peter’s illness for a while but his passing has still shocked me. We frequently exchanged greetings at away games and the club has lost a true enthusiast. This is such sad news to read. This site has been running for over 25 years and Peter was a mainstay from the start. I vaguely recall that he went under the name PDN Camulodunum (or similar) before he adopted Durham Exile.
He and his optimism will truly be missed. If our opposition have a bird related name I will forever expect them to 'have their wings clipped' in his honour.
