As a youngster for me it was Steve Williams. He was my favorite player and the heart beat of the team.

Nowhere near as bad as he felt when the Sunderland fans vandalised his car. They really hated him with a vengeance.

He very sensibly lives as far away from the north-east as possible nowadays.
