They have scored four less than us and conceded 3 more, having played one more game. This game is really important for Southend, if they loose and go 14 points behind the top of the league having played a game more if think the playoffs would be their on avenue to get promotion. The local rag here has confirmed that the centre half Goodliffe has declared himself fit yesterday after 3 weeks out. I think he’ll start, but clearly won’t be match fit. The striker Kendall is likely to be in the match day squad for the first time since a hamstring injury September. I'll be shocked if he plays more than about an hour, even if he starts. Maher is suggesting that they are not sure if Dallas will be available (think he is keeping McNulty guessing) but a week to recover from a hamstring issue is very very quick. While Parllion and Appiah Forson are also doubts. They say if you stop the right wing back Scott Morrison you stop Southend. I asked my season ticket holder mate how best to do that with a blocker or an attacking wing back to subdue him. He suggested a blocker, but to be honest I’m not sure. That will be the key positional decision for Jim. They have not beaten a team above them this season. If we mind our business we should beat them. UTD

Interesting, especially about their main threat being a right-wingback Our left side is the one area which remains relatively unsettled, when everyone's fit. We have Allarakhia who obviously is more a threat and in decent form right now but weaker on the defensive side of things. Galvin on loan is an unknown but with Beckwith at the back the issue is whether JM opts to try to nullify Southend or takes the game to them Another option could be Burger, but my preference would be start with Pritchard in that wide role and leave Allarakhia till later in the game if needed. If Pritchard can stay fit, he'd be the last piece in the jigsaw

Agreed. Scott Morrison was there top scorer last season and got plenty of assists. Note this season he only has 3 goals and three assists so far. Maybe teams have got a handle on how to deal with him.

Scott-Morriss maybe not at the same level as last year but would trust starting with either Allarakhia or Pritchard there and be confident bringing either on as a sub would be fine too. If we’re winning, would expect Galvin to come on. They’ve just re-signed Caldwell on loan from FGR. [Post edited 4 Dec 20:12]
