Saints 2025/26 Season Ticket Pricing 5% Discount Is Not Enough
at 09:32:16

Truth is, as with most clubs, they know the die hard fans will renew, which pretty much gives them licence to do as they please. Personally the so called discount incentives mean nothing to me and in real terms are very insubstantial anyway!
So it could be worse and yes we (hopefully) will be more competitive in the Championship. However we are all in a bit of limbo here at present waiting to see how adventurous the board is going to be with the new manager and how well he is backed to succeed. So we're all renewing in blind faith, and hoping that the board put in as much effort in building a team as we continue to do supporting it!

Can Southampton Poop Everton's Party
at 09:09:42

There's nothing on it so lets start to consider next season. The club must have a good idea of who's going & who's not wanted, so lets look at the future. We have most of our loan stars back so maybe it's worth a shout? Oh and a back four please, the two full backs from last week, Bree and Wellington + maybe Wood and Edwards?

Joe Aribo's Performance Against Man City Has Saints Fans Asking Questions
at 19:25:13

Big Les has much promise, maybe a bit over enthusiastic at times and although we probably have no chance of a permanent signature, it would be well worth trying for another loan.
As for Aribo, yes he did well when he came on but he came into a solid set up, and, despite Nicks unjustified rant against Sulemana, everyone performed about 3 levels above normal on Saturday!
£70,000 a week is too much to pay for a pretty average player in the Championship!

Southampton Apparently Not Up For Sale At £125 Million
at 14:36:03

All of the smaller clubs sell their best players, it's the way of the world in the PL. Bournemouth sold Solanke for £60 million, Brentford sold Toney & Raya for around £74 million and Brighton sold Caicedo & MacAllister for around £158 million!
The difference being they have all recruited wisely, without being afraid to go big on one player. We cast our net wide and recruited a lot of players at, in PL terms, very little individual cost. SR haven't been afraid to spend, £123 million this season, Bellis & Downes, neither looking like PL quality, costing £23 & £18 million respectively, Archer £17.5 million, Suguwara £7 & Diaz £8.5 million have all been a failure at this level. Ramsdale & Fernandes the only real successes at £21 & £15 million respectively.
So SR really need to see what money we can retrieve and hopefully spend better to reinvigorate the club and get us back to respectability!

Johannes Spors Shakes Up Southampton Backroom Team
at 16:33:18

Once the season has finished, dependent on who goes and who stays, with new backroom staff and new manager (and his team) we have a reasonably clean canvas to start anew. It's hard to predict anything until we have an idea of what we are working with, both in terms of staff and finances. But hopefully the spine of the new team will be first thing the new boys work on because we haven't had one this season!

If the financial situation and PSR rules are to be believed for us, we are going to have to sell to stand still. Therefore the best of the U21's could play a big part next season!

Southampton At Leicester City The Verdict
at 10:05:24

Couple of comments on your article, possibly the same team gets put out due to the lack of interest of the others on the training pitch?
And "I have seen some horrible abuse aimed at Rusk on social media, that is unfair, Rusk's only crime is not to be up to the job in hand and making some poor selections"
it just might be that if we had appointed Rohl, or anyone else, this poor excuse for a football team would have completely destroyed any credibility they had too!
At least poor old Rusk will leave a blank sheet for the incoming manager, which is the only positive we have at present. The fact that we need a complete clear out and mental reboot are quite a concern for next season at the present time!

The Rumour Mill Suggests Southampton FC Are Up For Sale
at 08:36:23

Pretty good article Nick, what quite a few of the dissenters fail to realise is that we are not a big club with a massive fan base & loads of potential. So the big money boys will always look elsewhere and we could end up in a far worse situation.
I was made aware of this rumour a couple of weeks ago & know Solak has been very disappointed with how it's gone but hopefully he feels he can put it right. Still think we need some changes in the boardroom and a decent public relations appointment would be a good start!

Southampton At West Ham United The Verdict
at 16:10:48

I'm not sorry St Michael as I gave you a thumbs down and as a Saints fan home & away my experience of it isn't very pleasing!
The passing game played with pace (Arsenal) works very well but look who's walking the league? Liverpool don't fanny about and move the ball forward with pace as do Newcastle and Forest even City are not adverse to a long ball. Whilst I really don't have a problem with a passing style of football and would think most Saints fans feel the same but unless it's progressive it really is boring! You are obviously either a die hard passing game fan or you never attended many Russel Martin games!
Any way a better feeling Saturday than for a fair amount of time and Rusk is playing a style that suits this squad, we are overloaded with defenders, desperate to pass 11 points hence the way we play.

Manchester United, West Ham And Leeds Circling Over Southampton

Get an experienced (Decent) keeper in and let Baz go out on loan again. He's put in some very good performances for the Repulic and needs time to develop, we've nothing to lose getting him more game time. It also allows us to monitor his progress, or lack of as some suspect!

Forgotten Men Could Play Crucial Part For Saints Next Season
at 16:07:02

We need a striker that can win and hold the ball like Adams used to, even in the Championship we can't have the ball keep coming back at us when trying to form attacks.
We tend to forget his contribution to our promotion! Larios will probably be gone as he still has potential and is attracting interest. Edozie will have learnt from his time at Anderlecht, although he missed quite a few games with a hip injury. Edwards looked to me the most promising of all our signings and personally I would have kept him here.
We have Matsuki at Goztepe, who has had a good season and hopefully can maybe swap Onuachu for Romolu from Goztepe as well? Never rated Frazer and wouldn't have re-signed him. Baz, Charles & Edwards will be like decent new signings and once we see who comes in to manage we will see who goes and work out what we need.

Southampton V Aston Villa The Verdict
at 10:14:55

To be fair to Rusk he set up to try to paly on the break but to do that you need to hold onto the ball! We couldn't keep the ball anywhere apart from at the back, fans around me were getting frustrated with the continual backward passes but where was the pass? Tall Paul is very very slow and Archer is too easily bullied but what options do we have? Tyler should have been told to stay reasonably close to their back four and look for gaps, we expect him to track back and tackle but that's not his game, so play him where he is best.
The bottom line is that we have a very big squad but not enough where we really need it, perhaps thats why we frequently have 6 or 7 defenders on the pitch!

Who Wil Return From The Cold For Southampton After Juric Exit
at 11:18:31

Not sticking up for either ex manager but we don't see how these guys train. If the effort isn't there then, will it be there on the pitch?
That and the fact we have a very large squad might partly explain the omissions, as those that were selected have hardly covered themselves with glory!

Saints Set To Offload Striker In the Summer

Might be worth trying to swap him with Romulo Cardoso at our sister club Goztepe?

Sky Sports Reports Ivan Juric Sacked
at 12:25:45

Good he's gone but now the work starts, first find a win from somewhere to lift a bit of confidence. Then start to plan for next year, perhaps introduce a couple of the promising youngsters into the first team squad to gain experience, particularly a striker. And as Nick mentioned, in the Spurs verdict, bring some of the exiled players back.
We need to sort out this very large but mediocre squad ASAP!

Southampton V Crystal Palace The Verdict
at 09:55:46

A pretty good performance & shows what can be done if the side has structure and balance.
The two defensive midfielders were excellent, allowing the full backs to push on with impunity. Only downside was lack of support for Onuachu and his lack of pace. Strange that with all the stick Jack gets every manager has played him and if he could concentrate for 90 minutes would be a very good player. He actually had a good game, making less errors than his two other CB's. (I can take the markdowns, I'm a big boy now)
I think many of us also forget that Tyler is still a very young man and does really need to be brought on slowly. His return from Chelsea after such a short time says something about his maturity and confidence, if we want to see a future star we need to give him a chance. Also can't believe someone earlier had Le Tiss and work rate in the same sentence 😂😂😂😂

Ross Stewart Could Feature Against Crystal Palace
at 17:40:11

Lets ensure he is fully fit and not risk a set back. Regardless of all the negativity since his arrival. And to be honest it was pure folly to sign a long term injured striker in the first place. However if he is firing on all cylinders by the start of our Championship restart then he could be vital to our season. Providing we have a manager that knows how to set up a team to get the best out of the forward line?
