Southampton At Cardiff City The Verdict
at 11:50:52

Bednarek bottled the shot, shied away from it like he was scared of the ball.. deflection, goal. See it so many times when players aren’t brave. Captain Jack wouldn’t have bottled it and I expect to see him back in the starting line up on Tuesday.
Same story, don’t take the chances to kill off the game, run out of steam after an hour, managers waits til we’ve messed things up before he makes the changes.
That said, he is learning on the job and if we were clinical up top, none of these moans and whinges about RM and Jack would be relevant or heard.
Still a chance of automatic if we win our last 3. Leeds only need to draw one against Boro or QPR, not easy away games, and Ipswich have 3 really tough games when you consider Huddersfield will need something last day.
To be blunt, our whinging fans who constantly go on about RM and Jack don’t deserve premier league football, only real fans who get behind a successful team, any other season, we’d be on the cusp of automatic right now..
you keep sowing negativity, that’s what you’ll get back!
Come on the lads for tomorrow night, still loads to play for!
Oh and to use your frustration for another dig at the captain and and his leadership just proves what a sad clown you are..

What Brought About Russell Martin U Turns Against Preston
at 13:28:59

It must have been your constant abuse of Captain Jack.. where would we be without you.
Again you show how deluded you are by thinking you speak for most saints fans. Most saints fans don’t constantly slate our captain or manager, skates do.. good work agent skate..
As stated, it’s a squad game which is why we have most players fit and relatively fresh, hitting our straps at the right time of the season.
We’ve had an amazing season and you still spend all your time questioning the manager. Have you thought for a moment that perhaps you are wrong? Clearly not!

Russell Martin Admits He Won't Change Tactics Or Drop Jack Stephens
at 16:55:19

Another misrepresentation of the truth. You are now starting to tell lies in a vain attempt to back up your pathetic argument. Some idiots booed at the end at Blackburn.
Indeed the way you attack Stephens and then try to claim it’s not a personal dig is merely an insult to the intelligence and the reader.
Maybe the manager and players are aware of your cowardly attacks and have just had enough of this childish behaviour and so Martin has felt the need to put you in your place. After all, this has been going on for months. Stop behaving like a little boy and get behind the team.
This is the toughest year in championship history and one of the toughest in the world, yet we went 22 games unbeaten and played the entire season without our star signing!
I think the job Martin has done is incredible and he always defends and talks up his players like any solid manager should. It is not he who has persistently bleated after we’ve won 4-2 or 5-3, but the ungrateful minority who just aren’t satisfied with anything, who lack understanding of the game and what goes on behind the scenes. Fans who keep having a go at the club captain who, incidentally in my opinion, did have a top game at Blackburn, so I don’t know what game you saw.. your own one by the looks of it.
Stop misrepresenting the opinions of others, you don’t speak for anyone but yourself and to try to destroy Jack as you have in the last few months then claim you’re not having a go at him is bordering on hilarious as it’s so obvious to everyone what you’re doing each week with your transparently veiled abuse of our club captain.
It really is about time you just shut up about Jack, it’s tiresome and unpleasant to say the least.
Go and buy a brain

Southampton At Ipswich The Verdict
at 17:36:07

Stephens was magnificent, I suggest you watch the game again.. I agree with your comments about subs being made too late. I don’t agree KWP should have started as he’s just back from injury and played on Friday so it would have been stupid to risk him being injured again. We totally dominated the game for 60 minutes so your assessment about shape and personnel is horse sh*t as is your again cowardly attack at Stephens but you clearly have no scruples. The problem was the same as before, we stopped trying to hurt the opposition and didn’t freshen up the legs, which is probably why the game turned when it did as Aribo and Fraser looked spent. Had they have been replaced on the hour and Adams too, the result would have been different. So, why did we play so well for the first hour if the tactics, shape and personnel were wrong? You’re beginning to sound like a bitter old man, moaning when we win, whingeing when we lose and constantly attacking our longest serving player. The manager is young and learning his trade, it’s a seriously tough league and never tougher before so to achieve our best unbeaten run and have almost 2 points a game is something to salute. Be careful what you wish for guys and get behind the team properly instead of this constant whingefest no matter the result. From what I read, most of you don’t deserve top flight football..
Cue the minus thumbs down.. bring it on clowns

Nobody is pointing any fingers at JS directly is it..? Aside from you every week. We missed chances to put the game to bed, again, JS pulled off a fantastic last ditch tackle and yet you blame him for our dropped points. Your weak attempts to hide this amongst compliments, which are merely more insults, are rather pathetic and an insult to the intelligence of the reader. But you’ve found your scapegoat for the season after previous years of digs. It has become personal for you and your denials of this further insult the reader. It’s about time you grew up and found another emotional punch bag to deal with your childish disappointments or go and support the skates..
We need to be together as a team and fan base to achieve success and stop this constant finger pointing whilst claiming your hands are in your pockets.

I’ve said time and time again that the author of this site is a decent back up author, good squad amateur journalist but shouldn’t be writing ahead of more fair and accurate pens. Sometimes he doesn’t know what day it is, get’s peoples names mixed up, doesn’t bother to read through and correct his mistakes and repeats himself with the same tiresome anti-Jack rhetoric week after week.. I appreciate he has been a good servant, giving up his time and all that but at this stage of the season we should have our best authors on offer or we will just become a site of has beens and fade away.. A good squad journalist but not a time to shoehorn him in this weekend.

Southampton At Rotherham The Verdict
at 13:53:17

I haven’t posted for a while, partly due to not being able to attend games and also because of the unbalanced views on some players due to personal bias, which belittles the quality of the rest of most articles. It is clear that after 21 games unbeaten that we now have the right structure, personnel and blueprint for success. Our losses came due to the sudden but not unexpected personnel changes at the end of the summer window. No matter what happens for the rest of the season, hats off to Martin and indeed Calderwood, whose addition has produced wonders for our defensive game.
All players will have the odd bad game, take time to settle in and take time to get match fit after returning from injury. The latter is frequently mentioned about some players by the author of this blog, when excusing their rustiness, except when the return from injury involves Jack Stephens. Irrespective of whether right or wrong in his assessment, fair treatment to all should be granted and whatever you think his best is, it needs game time to get there. So we do have a back up for our centre backs in Stephens and also Charles can play there. Jack was good enough for Bournemouth while we were relegated and you have been rather tiresomely quick to jump on the anti-Jack bandwagon again recently and unfairly.. bit puerile and you’re better than that.. and if you trust in Martin, you trust in his opinion of your pantomime villain. In times when there is no loyalty from players to clubs, it staggers me how little you think of him and how frequently you run Jack down.
However Nick, I will defend you on the point of the back end of the season being where the stronger teams come to the fore and the last 8-10 games are where things are won or lost and we are in a better place than all bar Leicester atm with good spirit and momentum. We have a tough run of games late March and early April so a lead of 5 or 6 points over those behind will be ideal.
Finally, agree with the above post on Downes.. he’s our most important player and we should try everything to sign him in the summer.

Newcastle Claim Southampton Are Moving The Goalposts Over Tino Livramento
at 18:24:14

San Marco I think you've missed the boat there.. You might find that Obama ordered the Yemen bombs and those assisting him in Saudi were kicked out a couple of years ago..by better people.. But that has zilch to do with Tino anyway.. As with every player, there is a price which a club will settle for if they think its the right deal for them, taking all current circumstances into the equation. That's football..

Saints Launch New Home Kit For 2023/24 Season
at 23:20:52

Don't really like it but I don't like us looking like Sheff Utd, Stoke and Brentford anyway. The only stripes like that which worked was the one after hummel kit with the black trim lines separating the stripes, when we came 7th under Nicholl.
On the purchasing side of things, I couldn't give a toss really as I'm not paying for the privilege of advertising a gambling organisation on a shirt or any other company for that matter. Even if the shirt design is amazing, they are all ruined by garish sponsors. Last year's was appalling and the colours shouldn't have been reversed. We didn't look like Saints at home, didn't feel like it and didn't play like it.

Who Will Be The Next Southampton Manager ! A Surprise Candidate Emerges.
at 18:23:50

Nick, seriously.... How can you possibly use the argument that because SR were completely inept in recruiting a new manager, that Ralph would have kept us up.. Look at his record for his last 20 or so games in charge.. Everyone apart from you could see where we were heading under him and its his miserable tactics which he passed on to Selles which has done for us. Wake up man ffs. If SR had any nous, they would have cleared out the clowns last summer. What is Semmens? Where did he learn how to run a football club? These are the reasons we did not get rid of Ralph soon enough and bought a load of A level students to keep us in the toughest league in the world, no idea from top to bottom and no idea from the fanzine author.

Ruben Selles ! A Good Man In The Wrong Place At The Wrong Time
at 13:05:23

Agree with you Nick on Ward-Prowse, I think people forget how young he was under Poch and Koeman. He has not been the reason for our demise but the one who has kept it at bay for the last two years. Ou demise is down to not replacing Ings and not getting managerial decisions right since SR took over.

Rumour Mill Starts Turning On Next Southampton Manager
at 12:57:58

Not sure we want to pay £22k per game to have Will Still as manager. This is the fine each week because he hasn't completed his coaching badges, obviously a ridiculous scenario and shows the authorities up for what they really are, money grabbing control freaks.
When you look at the troubles Lampard has at Chelsea, you realise that Potter was actually doing ok there considering the clown show that is their oversized squad. I still believe he is the perfect fit if he would be prepared to build from the championship. Leicester and Everton have big problems with finance so they are not actually as attractive as us atm for the likes of him. Rodgers would be OK and might take the drop, he has the experience and has won silverware.
My only bugbear is why don't the club sort it now, there's no way at this stage any new manager would take blame for our relegation and I can't believe in the future, a chairman would look at Potters CV and say we'll, you did get relegated once.. I would hope there is more nous in the football world than that, this isn't a normal job..
One thing is for sure, if we'd have had a proper manager with experience at the start of the season, instead of Jones or instead of Selles, we would have more points and a chance of survival. I can't see many points gained by any of the bottom 5 now so we really have missed a trick or 3..

Southampton At Newcastle United The Verdict

I think the acceptance of banal mediocrity from some fans in respect of their desperation to keep hold of a nice man who brought us two 9-0 defeats and but for one lucky win nearly took us down last season, playing one 19 year old loaner up front on his own at home to teams like Watford.. has been far more damaging than the 'abuse' you refer to on social media. I don't recall any real abuse, much mockery and frustration at the obvious, yes..
Our failure to replace Ralph and Danny Ings, together with two naive windows of uncalculated purchases is what will cost us in the end. So the fans who didn't want to rid of Ralph should shoulder the blame for accepting bang average football from a manager who tells the world we have no ambition and are a feeder for young players.. Game over..
Unsurprisingly the game was lost after bringing on the dross which has hamstrung us in the majority of games under this latest clueless individual. The club urgently need to get in the right man now but the likes of Potter won't want relegation on their CV..

Southampton V Newcastle United The Preview

Selles must shoulder some of the blame for his appointment, I don't accept that he was thrown to the lions.. He would have convinced the decision makers that he was the right man and could lead us to safety when in reality, he should have been honest and said that he was not ready. He comes across as arrogant and is more negative than Jones was. The mess began a lot longer before Jones arrived, he was just the wrong appointment given the position we were in, again, too inexperienced.
I will say it again, if we'd have kept Tella, we'd have more points than what we have as he was instrumental in positive outcomes when he played. Away at Brighton a great example involved in both goals to retrieve a 2-0 defect.
The fact is the people who run the club have made mistake after mistake and the last two windows have been disastrous on the match day line ups with only 2 outfield players out of 12 playing regularly this season, Lavia and Alcaraz, to a small extent BK and CC and Edozie was used and looked a threat early doors.
If we were Crystal Palace, we'd be starting games with Adams, Mara, Sulemana and Alcaraz as a front 4,instead we've had bottle job naive clowns with no plan of attack.. So we are going down and I still don't think we'll win another game this season. What an absolute circus..

Southampton At Arsenal The Verdict
at 10:33:18

It's fair to say the game changed, as did the effectiveness of Odegaard, once Lavia left the pitch. Diallo was slow to react to Odegaard and the inevitable ensued, however, Lavia was spent having stifled their midfield. I understand the half time change with Alcaraz (what a player) being on a yellow and our full backs the same. A red card and we'd have got nothing out of the game.. What I didn't understand was why the ineffective Armstrong started and he and Elyonoussi were poor second half and should have been replaced sooner. We carried more of a threat and had more energy with Sulemana, he should have come on earlier.
Fair play to Walcott, he loses the ball a lot but keeps going and made a great run and finish for the second. I've knocked his inclusion but when he has space on the counter, he does a good job. Desperately disappointed to have conceded two goals so late as the 3 points would have changed the complexion of the run in completely.. Indeed reminiscent of the last time we dropped out of the PL. If only we had some experience on the coaching staff to get us over the line in these sorts of games..
