One of the things that could be adjusted is our full backs defending so narrowly. Stop giving the freedom of the pitch to opposition wingers.
That said, Kieffer Moore has always caused us problems especially in his Bournemouth days. Stop the crosses & he becomes pretty lame |

We have witnessed some shocking referees & refereeing decisions over the years.
Mike Dean right up there as one of the worst along with Stuart Atwell. Absolute disgrace to the ‘profession’ the pair of them |

Careful now … There are still posters on here who defended the previous owners to the hilt. They supported bad decision after bad decision even making up excuses for their gross incompetence.
There has been a step change in professionalism but also a considerable amount of turmoil behind the scenes. |

Definitely outside the normal prerequisites by age, transfer fee & sell on profit potential. We have to go with Matos’s judgement on this one. Hopefully he is the deep lying midfield enforcer & playmaker that we have been lacking - someone in the mould of O’Brien, Britton or de Guzman would be good. |

Idah was only at Celtic for one full season and a half season on loan. 29 goals in 76 appearances according to Google. He will find goals harder to come by in the Championship. If we are to have a good season we need him to get in to double figures and stay injury free |

Not sure that I have seen enough of Idah to pronounce him as garbage. Jury is still out in him for many.
Piroe had 2 x 20 goal seasons with us & one decent season with Leeds in the Championship. He has not played a lot in the EPL. Think we have seen the best of him. He wanted out, not sure trying to bring him back is the way to go
VIP has had one good season so still has much to prove. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if we get anywhere near £20m for him, feel he may have reached his ceiling last season but hope I’m wrong.
For the money that we paid for Idah we should be expecting him to click into gear this season. He may view coming to us from Celtic as a set back to his career, so hopefully he will be hungry to prove himself and put himself in the shop window. He is still young, this move is make or break for him |

Disappointed to hear this as he looks set to join a long line of academy players who never have really been given a fair chance in the first team squad. It seems that a number of managers seem more willing to give foreign players a chance because the statistics say so. Good luck to him, always looked one of the better players in the junior ranks throughout the age groups |

My only experience of a fan zone was at Manchester City quite a few years ago now when we played up there. After a longish walk from the city centre we found the fan park pretty decent. Good choice of ales at reasonable prices with food from around the world available. Home & away fans mixed without any hassle and with it being Manchester some pretty decent live music on offer. Definitely better than what was available inside the stadium or the nearby housing estates |

Think if we got the same deal as we did for Piroe £12m + add-ons we’d be doing pretty well. Not forgetting that Piroe had 2 x 20 goal seasons for us. He lacks pace for sure but has a great right foot. Wouldn’t be disappointed to see him stay but suspect he has reached his ceiling. Hope I’m wrong. |

Didn’t Piroe go for £12 million plus add ons ? Piroe had 2 seasons with over 20 goals in both.
Still, £8million, bit of an insult. How will Zan react if the bid is turned down & with it the EPL dream not to mention pay increase |

Same old issues to resolve - conceding easy goals, lack of creativity, don't look like scoring many. Not quite the disaster of last pre-season but a long way to go to instil confidence in this bunch |

I’ve cycled up Col de la Madeleine & the Galibier. By the time I reached the top took some photos, admired the achievement, I was too knackered to enjoy the descent let alone notice if the air was thinner or the descent quicker than coming down our local climbs. |

Your point about the benefits of altitude training being realised when an athlete comes down from altitude training to compete is correct. However when actually competing or training at altitude there are significant impacts on resting heart rate and maximum heart rate.
Resting heart rate is higher so the body takes longer to recover from exertion. Maximum heart rate is lower, making it difficult to do the same about of work for the energy input.
That said, temperature and home advantage will also make it even more difficult for England. Based on what we have seen so far Mexico are definitely favourites |
