Will Saints Get £10 Million For Charlie Austin !
He knows where the net is, feed him and he will score, assuming he is fit. if someone like Carillo who is totally unproven cost 20 mill then Charlie has got to be worth somewhere in the region of 8-10.
Keegan Backs Danny Ings To Succeed At Saints.
Seems to be primarily hamstring troubles which is bound to happen as that is where they usually take the graft from for a cruciate reconstruction. Remember he didn't have a proper pre season with us last year and was constantly rushing back because of the precarious position. Hopefully with the right level of rest and prep he will be good to go in august. Too player.
2018/19 Season Review - The Goalkeepers
Gunn's distribution seems the best of the lot from what I have seen. If we are going to play a counter attacking style then that is essential. For FF this is undoubtedly one of the poorest aspects of his game. McArthy has generally been pretty decent in my opinion though.
Celta Vigo Want Permanent Boufal Deal But Not At The Agreed Price
Obviously boufal is an incredibly talented individual. It is just that he can't tackle or head the ball, won't pass it or put in any effort whatsoever in terms of tracking back and wouldn't warm up when told to. Ignore that and he is a world beater.
If Only Ralph Had Been Here At The Start Of This Season !
Assuming we stay up, which is looking pretty good now, the summer could be interesting. There is so much dead wood to be trimmed which could really free up the wage bill and a few quid transfer money. You would imagine Ralph having a bit more success with his players coming in than certainly Puel and Pellegrino did. Some of the young players will get more of a shout too. We actually look like we have a plan and some team spirit for the first time in a while.
No Place For Ward Prowse in England Squad
Ah come on, fair enough he has been on fire lately but moaning Ross Barkley has only started 10 games. Has jwp started more? He never even had a look in until Christmas and saints fans on here were saying 'what is he for' ? If he plays like that until the end of the season he will get a chance
Clean Sheet Needed
Really? Fair enough I had a few jars before the match but as I stated in the match report I thought Stephen's use of the ball was excellent throughout. For me he is a proper footballer who with a small improvement could be a top player. That ball through for Redmond against Derby was orgasmic, more of that please.
Saints At Burnley The Verdict
I was sat in the Burnley end because my mate sorted free tickets and I was right behind the linesman. That was absolutely a penalty all day long and fundamentally the ref had an absolute mare.
I don't get the negativity around Stephens. Fair enough it was a soft pen but he didn't actually handle the ball, it was headed against his hand so it was pretty unlucky from that point of view. Throughout the game I though he was excellent, particularly his willingness to receive and distribute the ball. He is the main man in that system as he has a real pedigree with the ball, the way he can step out of the back three and create space by driving forward is instrumental to the way saints are playing.
I also can't understand the negativity from some posters. You would think saints had lost five in a row, not gone five without defeat. It is always disappointing to let in a late goal like that but any away point in the premier league is a half decent result and a draw was a fair outcome.
Barren Transfer Window Doesn't Mean Disaster For Saints
I for one feel very optimistic about the strategy that is being implemented. In reality the squad is not smaller, it is just that it is the young lads who are being considered rather than the established players who have been pretty abject over the past couple of seasons. The young lads need to be blooded if they are going to make it and they are clearly more suited to a high energy game. They are also going to fully buy into the coaching they get from Ralph.
Last year we broke our transfer record and look how that turned out. Also consider the players who have gone.
Cedric, good player, been a good buy but behind Valery now anyway.
Gabbiadini, class player but really what has he done since his one golden month, wasn't going to play.
Hoedt, has been pretty poor at times, was clearly not going to play
Davis, been a great saint but legs have gone a bit and was not going to play
Are any of them really going to be missed? I doubt it. Fair enough it would have been good to have beaten Palace but City thought the same thing. 8 points from the last 4 games has been a great return and I feel pretty confident about Burnley tomorrow. The manager knows what he is doing and if it all works out well we will have had a load of young players who have broken into the team. I can also see Bertrand playing left side of a back 3 when he is back so there is another defensive option.
Keep calm and carry on. The real changes will occur in the summer.
Saints V Arsenal The Verdict
What a great performance, however we definitely seemed to have the missing component of luck back on Saturday. Hopefully that is a corner turned in terms of belief.
