Does Ralph want to be sacked?
at 08:53 15 Aug 2021

I was also at the game and watchimg the match (unlike others who would spend most of it looking at the home fans sing about paedos and portsmouth... but that is a different conversation). 1st half was good and Tino had Richardlson in his pocket so.very good cover for KWP if required and we were more direct with putting balls over the top for AA to run onto and Che getting his head to the ball and holding up play where required. The back four were actually doing a good job and are quick to get back. Djenepo had quick feet and they needed 2 players to get hold of him.
2nd half was when we switched off and did not use the momentum we had in the 1st half. Richardlson was now moved to the centre as he was ineffective against Tino and this is when the problems started. Everton were very much more direct than us as we started to pass the ball too much and though Djenepo had lots of possession and taking it to the byline the end product was not there. Changes were made at the end that should have been made after Everton scored the 1st goal as a response to the change of formation by Everton and I think RH needs to have the ear of his staff during the game and be approachable as you can get blinkered in pressure situations and a voice of reason is required.

Should he be sacked... no. He played new players now to give them a test against decent opposition. Have we won a game at Goodison recently? No. So onwards and upwards and get behind them and that is from someone who spent £200 on tickets, meals deals and fuel ! COYR.

Two strikers in a 4 4 2 could save us.

Defence starts from the front and two up front keeps the opposition defence pinned back and stops them from pushing beyond half way. Leicester utilised the 442 formation to great effect in their premier league title win but those in the modern game see this as too old fashioned. It is not. Find a system that is solid and easily allows the pressing game as at the moment a lone striker can only press on his own and the trigger is not pulled fast enough by ALL of the team.

Complacent due to a lack of competition in the 1st team squad. Get some of the young and hungry players to show this squad what they used to be like when they first got into football.

I remember when Harrison Reed was given his chance and he came on as a sub, ran at the defenders and also chasing the ball down when we didnt have it. That lifted the whole team and the crowd.

We need to get back to basics.

Any football experts care to explain...

For what my opinion is worth but it is based on going to all home games and 10+ away games each season...

We just do not press enough like we used to and think that we are good enough to stand off and let the other team make a mistake. We did press at Palace and got the rewards but then we defend deep because we have no pace at the back.

Surely attack is the best form of defence?

There is a limited amount of talent at Saints but then Leicester did well to win the title with what they had and all they did was play to each players strengths and used other players in positions to reduce others weaknesses.

The problem is that everyone plays the same way nowadays and have all the same statistical software to analyise each millisecond of a players life when all you need is a decent eye for the game.

Sounds easy does'nt it ?

Yesterday was the 3rd Anfield trip in 3 seasons and it will be last up there. I cannot fault the stewards for the way they engage with the kids and let them have pictures in the dugout (Southampton take note).

That is all the positives I have to say as our players were walking most of the time and as it was so quite in the ground I shouted at our players and it echoed (poor atmosphere for a ground with history). I do not know where they bussed in our supports from but having got into double figures for away games I have to say they were not regulars as there was nothing from us.

3 goals in 30ish minutes and I saw Hughes of his seat twice. Not what I expect for £250+ spent on tickets, fuel, hotel and food. But its ok as the players earnt 4 figures just for turning up... now I can sleep knowing they have earnt their money.

I agree that putting on extra defensive midfielders makes you sit back and I said at the game that we needed attacking players on to drive the ball up the pitch away from our goal. The goal mouth scrambles would have cost us last season but you could see that we were pressing, getting the secondary balls and a bit of luck... along with an England keeper making some good saves.

Strange Game
at 22:14 19 Aug 2018

From my point of view sat in the front row at Goodison I can say that for one of Five Yellow cards given for a "foul" on Richarlson he went down like he was shot, held both legs, looked at the ref and when seeing the Yellow card given he turned to us and laughed and winked. Me and my kids were about 20 feet away and it doesnt look good.

Also, if two outfield players went for a ball and one left the ground and took the player according to the laws of the game the player leaving the ground would be out of control and would have been shown a straight Red. Is it because he is a keeper and Southgate was watching in the stands and it would have ruined the game? I noticed that the ref goes to the same gym as Charlie so maybe next time he can get subbed after 45mins.

It has been a long drive home for manay reasons and I dont want that feeling again... but I know I will but still take the kids to home and away games. COYR.

Fair play to the Everton fans
at 16:12 6 May 2018

I walked out of the stadium with my kids and the first thing said without warning by two Everton fans was "I AM SORRY YOU DIDNT DESREVE THAT, WELL PLAYED". Followed by "YOU WILL BE FINE, IF YOU PLAY LIKE THAT IN YOUR NEXT GAME".

All I could do is thank them. I have never had that from any opposition and they didnt need to say that so fair play to them.

Parking Charge - Breach of T&C
at 15:47 14 Mar 2018

Parking Charge Notice is essentially an invoice rather than a legal obligation to pay like a Penalty Charge Notice, they have 6yrs to take you to small claims court (if they wish). Imagine yourself on TV in front of Judge Rinder and you will get an idea what the process is like.
