Mbengue - season
Madsen, Burrell, Lamptey - after November international break….but nothing more exact than that
So 4 for certain out.
Then: Chair - maybe Southampton. Lloyd, JCS (??), Kemper…..assume they would be available. So, 4 up to 8 depending on how you look at it. |

We were down to 10 men against West Ham as Lamptey did his ankle. The last 2 seasons we were unfit but I do not see that in the games this season. How are we battering Preston with 10 men in 2nd half if they’re unfit??
There are good reasons for the rotation as I explained. I still like the recruitment this summer.
Anyway, we will go round in circles on this. But to be clear, I think injury situation is ridiculous, again. 3rd year in a row. But the squad is not unfit. |

I wasn’t making excuses. I’m just talking about this season. You referred to this season. I say again, there are very good reasons for the rotation this season.
I have said many times the injury situation is unacceptable but the point on lack of fitness and rotation is nonsense for this season. We’ve all watched the games, they are a fit bunch. They worked ridiculously hard off the ball vs West Ham. |

The injury situation now. Ridiculous. Fully agree.
But all these stats on changes and not being fit is nonsense. With Madsen, Kamara, Lamptey, Cirkin - we were always going to manage their minutes. Especially after last season when we clearly overplayed certain players. Those 4 players are arguably all starters and either had no pre season or injury issues or both. Then Burrell and Chair, after last season, seems pretty reasonable to manage their minutes. Kemper came off because he hadn’t played since first game of the season. So it’s hardly surprising we made a lot of changes. And I for one agreed with all the managing of minutes. As it turns out, it all proved a complete waste of time.
I agree the injury situation is terrible. Again. But let’s not go all overboard and start making out the squad isn’t fit or there weren’t very good reasons for squad rotation. |

I do think things have changed but I’m not sure we’ll agree on that.
I’d say in Edwards and Burrell we have 2 players that I’m pretty confident will go for a lot of cash. Then players like Madsen, Poku, Cirkin, Lamptey, Kone, Vale all have potential to go for decent money if they continue to improve. But of course, it depends on whether we keep them fit.
I completely agree that injury situation is ridiculous. I’ve lost hope and faith that we can keep them fit. And not keeping them fit, impacts league position and amounts we can sell our players for. But I do think things have changed, squad age has done down and we have players on longer contracts. But it’s all meaningless if we can’t keep them fit. |

My point was that we did spend money before. We have also got the age of the squad down. I do agree that it’s too early to judge the recruitment yet. We need to see how much we can get in.
I do think we are doing things differently but that doesn’t change the fact that the injuries are a complete mess again |

I love Les as a player and think Warburton was our best manager since Warnock. But look where those “pushes” to get into the playoffs got us? So what if we finished 11th one season if we ended up close to breathing FFP again and with the squad that Gareth had to deal with in that 23-24 season.
You are right in that Nourry, Warburton, Les and Stephan are all equally ambitious. The difference is that now we are trying to buy younger and sell for profit, at the same time as trying to improve the first team position in the league. Before we got likes Austin, Johansen….focus on quality now, money on wages not transfer fees. Let’s not kid ourselves that we didn’t spend money before, we spent it on wages not transfer fees. Brian, I don’t think / hope, we’ll fall out. I don’t care whether I’m proved right or wrong, just want us to succeed for a change. And that’s true of most qpr fans I think.
For me, there are very good reasons why I think we are in a better place since Nourry came in. You only have to look at the squad that Gareth had, it required a serious overhaul. And that takes time.
But, I cannot continue to ignore the issues we have with squad availability. The last 2 seasons were shocking. I hoped / expected changes but at the very least an admission of mistakes and changes and improvements. As said before, I don’t blame them for Mbengue injury. But all the others? The sheer number of injuries can’t be just bad luck. I think maybe my annoyance is worse than most because I’ve liked the recruitment over last 2-3 years. It’s different, younger players, and not just players that “know the club” or “know English football” nonsense. It’s been varied and youthful and promising. We’ve also stuck by a good young coach who is proven in developing players. But all that good stuff is completely and utterly pointless if we continue to have these ridiculous amount of injuries. This season can quickly go down the pan and it’s so depressing. |

I’m a big defender of the club. And I am (still) a supporter of what Nourry has done and is doing. I don’t think the club can do anything about Mbengue injury. And we knew about Lamptey.
But the injury situation is totally unacceptable. It may cost us getting into the playoffs. With our fit squad, we can compete with the best sides. So frustrating and I feel like a complete muppet for trying to defend the medical / support side of the club. 3 years in a row. It’s totally unacceptable. Wake up Nourry. It’s going to cost us big time. |

Well personably I’d have put Varane in and packed the midfield. I guess other option was playing 2 up front. But I doubt anything would have made a difference on Saturday. Be interesting to see whether Vale starts next 2 games. I would like to see Saito given a run of games in the attacking central mid role behind the striker. |
