That Swindon Town match report again – Report
at 06:59 2 Dec 2025

Exactly. It’s not that they’re unfit. That was an issue early doors this season. It’s a fatigue issue. If you’re fatigued you are off it from minute 1. It only has to be a few percent at this level in my view.

Yes but I don’t think he changed it enough those times either. And I’m talking about the 6 in front of the defence. Again because the options are all of a very similar standard.

If they are all fit, then I agree that changes make little difference. But that’s my point. I don’t believe Stephan can look us all in the eye and say with a straight face, that Madsen, Varane, Burrell, Saito, Dembele were all in great shape for Norwich after playing the last 2 games and with 2 days off. Whether you rate Hayden or Varane, Hayden having not played all week is going to perform better than Varane who’s played twice already that week.

I’m pretty amazed at the reaction on social media if they were happy with the team. I would rotate the team more. There is literally no difference in standard between most of the players.

Hayden, Field, Varane, Madsen…..you could argue any 2 of them.
Saito, Smyth, Poku, Kolli, Chair, Dembele….ok I’d play Chair, but any of the others…much difference? You could argue for each one.
JCS, Morrison, Cook, Dunne, Mbengue……again any 3
Of the 5 is fine.
Burrell would be an exception but is Kone a bad replacement??
RND at left back is the only one.

The game on Saturday was 100% down to the manager. We’ve got all these similar level players sat with their feet up.

Any news on Sam Field?

I agree Brian. Which makes the selection in midfield and further forward even more ridiculous. I can understand the reasoning behind not changing the back 4, don’t agree but it’s understandable. But why on earth can’t we put players like Smyth, Hayden, Kone, Kolli, Poku, Morgan….all who would have given some energy at the very least!

Amazed Poku and JCS didn’t get minutes either. Seems like big opportunity missed to get minutes in their legs.

Well the coach who left isn’t exactly pulling up any trees at Leicester, so let’s not go down that route.

The league has less very good sides but it also has less rubbish sides. So this leave a big bunch of clubs in the middle. 2 of which will go down and 2 will sneak in the playoffs. Overall I would say league is stronger because more sides in the middle level.

That all being said, Stephans decision to not rotate any of the outfield players is ridiculous, arrogant and stupid.

Of course you’re spot on. But I find it amazing after all the talk of rotating squad and the strains of the 3 game week and getting back at 4am on Thursday that we trundle out with same team as 2.5 days ago. Love to know thinking behind that. Arrogance? Reasonable to question the decision making today.

Varane has hardly been pulling up any trees. Surely Hayden deserved a start, he’s been decent in games he’s played. Maybe Field alongside to keep it tight early doors. Kone - surely deserves a go up front by himself. Smyth - definitely deserved a start after Wednesday. JCS? RND? Starters no??

They haven’t won at home. We’ve done a bit of travelling. Change it up, bring some fresh legs in to bring some energy. Keep it tight and make them nervous. We did the exact opposite. I don’t know whether stupid or arrogant.

Completely agree. I get his point about the back 4. Don’t agree but can understand. However, making no changes to the rest of the side after the game Wednesday and travels is stupid and arrogant. It’s not as if there is much if any difference between the guys on the bench and those that start.

But you’ve said nothing positive. Isn’t there anything you’re happy with the club at the moment?

That wasn’t really my point. I had a few light ales so maybe it wasn’t clear though. Earlier it was said that Matt Winton said that both WLS and this site reported something that wasn’t based on facts. My point was that Matt Winton doesn’t say that. He says the reasons were not given and that led to fan reactions etc. Fans can think what they like. That part I disagree with Matt on. But he certainly wasn’t disparaging Dave Mc or Clive in my view.

I also respect and like what Clive writes a hell of a lot. When my Dad was dying in hospital (many years ago), I used to print his match reports for him as they would cheer him up! I certainly don’t come on here for the political debates!

Hunter, all I was saying was that I didn’t read Winton’s article to mean that the WLS article
Or Clive’s pre-match were ignoring any facts and making things up. If there was anything in that article that said that, then point it out. I’m sure Danny P will tell me to “shut the f up” but that’s just my view on the Winton article.

I didn’t say you were Clive. I was just pointing out that I don’t think Matt Winton was saying the WLS article was made without facts. He was pointing at fans reaction to it (not yours). That’s all.

Personally I read Matt Wintons article was saying that the WLS article was published with no explanation. And then fans jumped to conclusion without facts. I didn’t read it that he was accusing WLS of making stuff up. Just how I read it.

Odd for a Derby fan. He seems to be big fan of us this season with manager and signings we’ve made.

Cracking video. He was a bit lazy though 😉😂

Hi wombat - I’m around just avoiding certain discussions….
Personally think a fully fit JCS walks straight into side and would improve us massively. Will he get there? Fingers crossed. I would think he’ll start Saturday so let’s see how he gets on.
