Thought I was out of town this weekend, but change of plans and I’m in London. If anyone has a spare ticket that would be great.. can meet at Stratford.

We don’t seem to like it do we? This team really are soft centred. Considering this is England and it pi55es it down all the time, we desperately need a bit more steel in the squad.

I was at the Desert Classic today but there was no sign of the legendary Dubai Phil. Is he still about, hope he’s ok? Maybe he’s in Los Angeles following Rory.

How to get a new manager in

Take note saints, Spurs lined up their man and had it done in 12 hours. Imagine if Ralph went, we’d have to recall Jahidi from his holiday in ‘Merica and wheel out Kelvin for six months. It really doesn’t bear thinking about.

On my holidays, so watched quite a lot of today’s shambolic showing. As good as Steve Smith is, the other Aussie batsmen are possibly the weakest bunch in decades. Yet, Root has no real plans for any of them other than Warner, who’s a walking wicket. Without Stokes or hopefully Manchester rain tomorrow, we’d be 3-nil down. It’s a shame as I’d take an ashes series win any day over being one day champions. Yet the ECB are obsessed with these baseball slogathon type games and not the pure test format.

Finally watched the Celebrity SAS show and it struck me how much of an all round good lad Wayne is. He did mention though that he’s lost most of his money, imagine that was gambling? Anyway, worth a watch and he seems to have sorted his life out.

Pelle
at 00:17 17 Aug 2019

Seeing 38 year old Aduris score the winner this evening it makes one wonder if we should try and get Pelle back. At only 34 and having had two years of training level games, he might well be fresh and ready to get back the top flight with us. Inevitably the accountant saints fans will say he’s too old, there’s no resale value etc. etc. But fook them, it’s not like the resales are ever invested, they just take what should have been the transfer budget, which seemingly disappears each year.

So Gao, pop over to Shandong and make it happen!

Inexperienced young players
at 17:19 10 Aug 2019

Looking at today’s team, it chronically lacks cool calm players that can handle going 1-nil down or periods of pressure. We had one player over 30 and only just over 30. This obsession with buying young players above all else is worrying as this lot disintegrate under pressure. We were crying out today for a players of the likes of Cahill or Wanyama. We don’t even have Steven Davis anymore to steady things. There was only one player over 30 on the bench in Yoshida. Anyone who has ever played the game even at Sunday level will know that when there are times of pressure everyone looks to the leaders, of which we have none.

I’m fully expecting a long and difficult season but that’s the case with most seasons with saints. So nothing new there.

This summer’s transfers
at 14:00 5 Aug 2019

With only days left until the window slams shut, has there been a worst summer window for us? I can’t think of one. Some how we needed to move the dead wood out and at the same time complete a remodelling of our current flaky light weight squad. Unfortunately, that’s not happened and as it stands this squad will be as paper thin as last season’s and the one before that one.

If ever there was any doubt that Gao is happy with scraping survival it’s this window. Understand that people will say, we’ve got too many high earners and we shouldn’t blame the board. But that’s bollox as if you calculate those players transfers and wages (Moi, Forster, Carillo, Hoetd) it probably doesn’t even equal the VvD money. There should still be plenty of cash for a decent squad.

Accountant saints fans
at 11:24 26 Jul 2019

I see the usual accountancy enthusiasts are posting that we need to sell before we can buy. Why are saints fans so obsessed by this? Even if true, it’s a pretty negative outlook for supporters. I’d expect these comments from a finance officer at the club, not the fans.

I don’t agree with it either, we have been a premier league club since 2012, why do we need to sell players that aren’t even that great like Lemina before we can buy?? He should be a key player for us. Surely we’ve not even spent half the VvD money yet let alone this year’s transfer kitty. Surely any premier league team has a budget of say £30-50m for a summer transfer window? It seems the more tv money the club gets, the less they spend.

Absolute feckin madness. By now we should be in a position of being able to buy relatively established internationals from normal clubs that we’ve hear of and not scraping around for random punts that big clubs don’t want yet. Yes, we have some wasters on big contracts but that’s the same with every club, why is it always a problem for saints?

Last two seasons have shown we’re a bottom six team and really need to spend a huge amount to improve.

Rant over.

No saints for weeks

Just looked and we next play on Sat 30th. Is this right as it’s nearly 3 weeks away? Assume it’s fa cup and internationals if it is correct. Football scheduling over the past few years has been very stop start, perhaps we should try harder to stay in the cups a bit longer.
