Sun 29th March 2026 - QPR History Day, Memorabilia Fair and Subbuteo Tournament
at 15:49 15 Feb 2026

Steve Wicks is now also confirmed to be there to sell and sign copies of his book.

Just added are "R History Talks" at 2pm after the Memorabilia Fair closes at 1.30pm.

“R History talks”

Three talks taking place at the QPR History Day
Venue – the Media Suite, The Bhatia Stand, South Africa Road
Sunday 29th March 2026 Times: 2pm to 5pm

At the QPR History Day, from 2pm onwards, there will be three QPR History talks;
o “Dave Sexton and the Fireflies – the 1975/6 QPR squad. Learning from legendary teams” Dr David Turner – Anglia Ruskin University

o “The Park Royal Football Ground – 1907 to 1915 – the story of the short-lived Archibald Leitch designed Great Western Railway/QPR stadium” Simon Inglis, author of the pioneering books “The Football Grounds of England and Wales” and “Engineering Archie – the story of Archibald Leitch, Football Ground designer”.

o “Hoops through History – the definitive story of the QPR kit” John Devlin and club historian Chris Guy, co-authors of the book of the same title launched in 2025.

Admission to the three talks will be on a “pay what you can basis”. All of the speakers have very kindly agreed to waive their usual speaker fees to enable all donations to go to the QPR Community Trust’s important “Extra Time” initiative.

“Extra Time” has been running since 2009 and helps local West London residents aged 60 plus stay active, socialise and enjoy life to the fullest.

Including a sequence shot with Richard Branson outside the Princess Victoria on the Uxbridge Road. He owned it briefly in the mid 1980s.

I think that was also the pub featured in the "Sussudio" video - the shooting of which led Phil Collins to abandon the Rs and follow Spurs (allegedly)

Nearly 200 of the tickets are sold now - if you plan to go and haven't bought a ticket yet it would be wise to get one very soon.

In addition to Gerry Francis, Phil Parkes, Dave Thomas and Ian Gillard on the stage most of the rest of the squad are due to be there. Or in the case of Dave Clement, Mick Leach, John Collins, Stan Bowles etc family representatives.

The Subbuteo mob are absolutely rabid for teams, accessories etc etc - you will have no problem shifting items. If you have enough items you could take a table, or even share one with someone who wants to shift old programmes etc.

On the subject of programmes, I should highlight that "old" programmes are regarded as pre 1980. As many people have found out sadly most post 1980 programmes tend to end up in the great recycling bin in the sky. There's just so many of them 😢. Pre war items are extremely valuable.

Sun 29th March 2026 - QPR History Day, Memorabilia Fair and Subbuteo Tournament
at 10:47 29 Dec 2025

Another History Day, Memorabilia Fair and Subbuteo tournament will be held in March after the success of the March 2025 and April 2024 events.

The Memorabilia Fair will be held from 10.30am to 1.30pm in the Forever R's Bar in the Lower Loftus Stand. The Subbuteo tournament will be in the same stand in the Sensory Room from 9.30am to 2.30pm.

Subbuteo was invented by Rangers fan Peter Adolph and his son Mark will be attending to present a trophy to the tournament winner and to also sign copies of his book, "Growing up with Subbuteo". Anyone wishing to participate in the tournament should email Victor Jones of the Harrow Hawks Subbuteo Club at harrowsubbuteo@hotmail.com

The much acclaimed new "Hoops Through History" QPR kits book will also be on sale. Authors John Devlin and QPR club historian Chris Guy will be signing copies of the book. John and Chris appeared on BBC Radio London's Robert Elms show on 20th December. This can be listened to here at approximately 2 hours 15 minutes into the show;

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programm

Lifelong Rangers fan Ray Eaton with his new book, "50 Unusual and Memorable QPR Matches – Volume 2" will also be attending, as will Francis Peacock and a number of other authors and memorabilia dealers.

Rangers fans looking to take a table at the fair to sell any collections should email details of what they wish to sell to community@qpr.co.uk.

Three of the club's very popular stadium tours will also be taking place during the course of the day.

More details on the fair will be publicised in the coming months.

Wrexham government grant
at 12:04 2 Dec 2025

Match day hospitality was already sold out for the Rs v Wrexham match on 24th January several weeks ago. You can be sure that will be Americans.

I haven't watched any of the other TV series on other clubs BUT I did like the Wrexham TV series. And the away day there in September was probably the best for the Rs this season.

Wrexham have canny, charasmatic owners with decent, experienced people advising them. If they are smart enough to get government money then good for them. We would be delighted if it was Rangers getting money to develop Loftus Road. And the Racecourse ground is the oldest surviving international stadium - I don't have a problem with it.

In the 1980s Vic worked for Seymour Security (or was it See more?) at Hammersmith Odeon so the Gloves would have been the logical boozer for him.

Get well soon Vic. It's tough to believe that the likes of Trevor and Peter Kingham are now long gone. The years speed by.......
