Players in all sports hide behind their agents. "I love the club, but my agent handles the money side". Panacea for all greedy and self-interested behavior. However, I'm not sure we want to start legal action against players - who will want to join us if they think we'll sue if they act according to their agents recommendation? |

Interestingly there is very little fanfare here and no real signage or advertising trying to hype it up. To be fair, NYC is abuzz with the Knicks being in the NBA finals for the first time in 27 years and most New Yorkers are very excited about that instead. I've been here well over 20 years and ironically this World Cup feels like the least anticipated World Cup among the natives that follow football (the soccer variety). However, talking to some of the dads at my kids' school on the weekend, they are all super put off by how expensive it is and how Trump is trying to "sports wash" himself through both this and the LA Olympics in 2 years' time. And these guys can afford the tickets and you'd expect them to be the prime target for overpriced experiences (one of them is somehow a committed Arsenal fan despite being born on Staten Island and travelled for the CL final). My guess is the ticket prices will plummet and some of the less sexy ties will feature half full stadiums as ticket resellers realize they can't price gouge as they thought they'd be able to. I, however, always enjoy watching international tournaments. I always go in with the irrational expectation England will win and am always disappointed but I keep coming back for more each time. |

Totally agree. Such a fine line between success and failure and feels like we have gone back 20 years in 10 days. I think we're totally screwed mate. We've gone from (i thought) strong favorite for promotion to total disarray. Who will play for us? Player contracts could be dissolved given this cluster F. Ownership has been abysmal throughout - they will want out and asset strip whatever they can. Who will pick up the pieces? Who will sponsor? List goes on. Obviously I hope I'm very, very wrong. But this seems existential to me. |

Their investment is in tatters - they're going to get back what they can and disappear. No chance they'll be paying out anything to supporters. They've invested the bare minimum throughout, constantly taken the cheap option on everything and sold any player that has performed well at the first opportunity. They're not giving anything to the fans they have treated as suckers throughout. |

My guess is they will sell whatever they can to recoup whatever they can of their investment and jack it all in at the earliest opportunity. They've been atrocious so far and I can't see this jolting them into a high functioning elite football club ownership state. |

So Tonda didn't know it was against the rules. We're appealing and according to Sky Sports we think there's a very strong chance we'll be playing on Saturday ( https://www.givemesport.com/so I can't see this happening, however, it will be interesting if the league hold back putting tickets on sale for Boro fans until the appeal has concluded. |

An hour in and no club statement is all you need to know. Shambles from top to bottom. |

4.5 mn sounds very high. I guess that's the sticker price and then we appeal it down substantially after the fact when media no longer care |

After all the sleuthing and amateur detective work I've lost sight of when we'll actually know the outcome if the hearing. Is the a date set yet for the hearing and/or when the finding a will be revealed? |

It is increasingly being reported that the "Spy" is an ex temporary employee in the press. Seems they are winding back their witch hunt/ptich fork journalism a touch. initial claims from Middlesbrough have been disproved (not a saints currently employed analyst, did not see his footage and have it deleted, did not even apprehend/engage with him, did not have any professional recording equipment, was not deeply concealed in bushes etc etc). I really hope this has been a tempest in a tea cup drummed up by Borough thinking they had us over a barrel. Our measured retort may well have been one of quiet confidence while a trust but verify the ex intern wasn't being engaged with was carried out... |

If he's not on the payroll having completed an internship, I don't see how this is connected to Saints unless there's a smoking gun if a payment to him or communications between the club and him following the conclusion of his internship. Almost sounds as though he's doing some academic studying of boroughs training vs match day application. If he's unaffiliated with Saints and on public land, I don't see the issue. |

Maybe a disgruntled ex-employee as Saint22 suggested previously? When you see how close he was to the training ground, if someone was deliberately trying to get caught it would add up. Does support us staying very quiet on the matter. Conspiracy theories everywhere..... |

Implicit in this is that Saints have waived their rights to 14 days to respond. Half full interpretation could be that the EFL have to look like they were prepared and had a contingency that expulsion could happen and recognize it will require material reworking of ticket sales, fixture dates and even venue. However, the combination of Saints agreeing to less than 14 days and EFL putting up a half hearted show (ie they still expect to go ahead as scheduled) implies there's an understanding we are not being expelled. However, who knows? What a cluster we've created for ourselves... |

According to the story he is listed as an "intern". This makes the story of "lone wolf trying to get a leg up" more likely and the plausible deniability at the senior coaching level easier to argue. It's still all very stupid and paints the club in a very poor light. However, the intimation a senior analyst with sophisticated equipment that had to have been directed by the club looks thinner and thinner. I think the expulsion likelihood is becoming very unlikely. |
