Southampton At Chelsea The Verdict

I heard it was only light bruising until Mike Dean got involved and upgraded it to a broken rib.

Southampton V Wolverhampton Wanderers The Verdict

Am I missing the paragraph where Nick castigates the defence for conceding such as easily defended goal? If Jack Stephens had let Jiminez get past him in such an easy fashion he'd have dedicated the whole report to it. As for the "I can see why Shane Long came on..." Please explain how someone who hasn't scored a goal in years, has played hardly any football in months and couldn't get into a Championship side last season, could possibly make a difference yesterday.

Southampton B Team Face Burnley B At St Mary's On Sunday
at 20:28:57

I was intending to go to this but the club website now says that all the available free tickets have been 'claimed'. Seems a bit odd to only open such a small area of the stadium, especially as the manager was saying only last week how a good crowd can help the young players' development.

Why Danny Ings Broke Southampton Hearts

I'm not sure if the marriage break up analagy is necessarily appropriate. It often depends on what sort of sell-on clauses you have in place when you get married.

Saints Prioritise Loyalty For The Return Of Supporters Against Leeds United
at 11:21:11

What time will they'll be expecting 8000 people to turn up at the stadium for this game? Surely the 6pm ko times were only introduced because no fans were in attendance? Cant they put the ko back to a time when people can actually get there?

Time For The Premier League To Unite And Let The Big Six Go
at 15:16:34

If they do all get thrown out of the EPL, and presumably as a consequence the TV money is slashed, how are we ever going to pay back that great big loan? I would suggest many clubs will simply implode without the TV millions.

Will all this negativity really make a difference to the result tomorrow? Do players look at fans' forums? It's when fans return to grounds that everyone needs to stop moaning and get behind the team.

Salisu Could Be About To Make Southampton Debut Against Wolves
at 10:38:22

For the first Newcastle goal Stephens took a throw in near the half way line, we lost the ball and Newcastle lumped it down to the gap where a right back would normally be. Stephens does tend to amble back admittedly, but if we'd not given the ball away there wouldn't have been an issue. Our problems under Ralph have often come when we've conceded possession cheaply and everyone gets caught out of position, especially with our lack of pace at the back. Hopefully the new man will help in this respect, although I'm not sure if making a debut in a team totally devoid of confidence with the temperature at minus 2 is the ideal introduction to English football.

To be fair to Jankewitz he did at least go over to McTomony after the red card. Although that might have been to ask for his studs back.

Southampton Dealt Big Blow For Trip To Leicester With Danny Ings Testing Positive
at 19:13:41

If he's shown no symptoms and he's only missed a few training sessions surely he should be fit to play? The last time I was roped into playing football I'd not played for about 20 years during which time I'd put on four stone and undergone a major back operation. It didn't stop me playing. Well, for 20 minutes at least. On that basis I'm sure Ingsy will be ok for a cameo off the bench on Saturday.

Vestergaard Set To Miss Fulham Trip ! But Who Will Replace Him
at 10:21:48

Why do managers these days tell the world who's injured and who's fit two days before a game? In the good old days you'd normally only find out when the teams ran out at 2.55. Surely it must give the opposition an advantage if they know a key player (like JV) is highly unlikely to play? If it wasnt for the modern media's desperate thirst to have something to report, would these things even get discussed?

On This Day In History - 1978 The RAF Police Dog Display Pitch Invasion
at 12:19:57

I remember it well. The other half time entertainment at The Dell i vaguely recall was when a member of the crowd had a race around the pitch against one of our local Team GB 400m runners (I think it was either Roger Black or Todd Bennett). As I remember, the proper athlete had to complete two laps while the rather unfit-looking fan had to do just one. From what i remember, the pro coasted his first lap thinking he would win easily, and then realised the fan was running quite fast and started to sprint. I think the fan actually won to great cheers from the crowd, but I can't be 100% sure. Anyone else remember it? Oh, and who can forget the Valley Slags singer walking towards the Leeds fans? They nearly needed the RAF dogs that night.

Saints V Tottenham Hotspur The Verdict

Where are the articles slagging off our owner and the terrible way the club's being run? Maybe if Gao actually had some money to spend on some 'leaders' then Nick wouldn't have to write an identical match report every week. You can't keep blaming the same players without eventually questioning why they are in the team.

2019/20 Season Review - The Centre Backs
at 13:22:33

Nick's had it in for Stephens ever since the League Cup final, but really went into overdrive after Hoedt fell out of favour and got farmed out. Most of us would agree that Stephens is far from perfect, but he had a great second half of the season and deserves a lot of credit, not that he will get any on this website of course. He fits in really well with our style of playing out from the back (we can only imagine what carnage would have ensued if Nick's favourite had been given as much of the ball). I just hope that the new lad won't be given such a hard time by Nick if he makes a couple of mistakes early in his Saints career.

Saints Guaranteed 12th Place ! But What If !
at 12:02:03

Nine away wins. NINE. Despite having a central defensive pairing who lack leadership, can't mark, can't organise and concede soft goals in every single match we play (apart from the eight clean sheets, obviously). How do you explain that Nick? Presumably we just got lucky nine times?

Saints At Bournemouth The Verdict

Excellent summary Nick. Good to see VAR doing its job. Without it we would have been robbed of two points by what turned out to be a fairly clear offside. The potential implications to Watford and Villa would have been immeasurably greater.

This is a fascinating new development. Not only is Nick slagging off our current central defenders, he's now having a pop at one we haven't even signed yet. I reckon Nick must cry himself to sleep at night underneath his Wesley Hoedt duvet cover.
