I get the feeling that they like him because they respect him - rather than the Russell Martin "love in" this bodes very well. It's also important to remember that he has done this with no Charles, Stewart or Romeo actually kicking a ball yet for him. Assuming he is appointed, January will be really important - both in terms of outgoings and incomings with quality over quantity being the key issue. I know it's early days yet but I wonder if he is the new McMenemy? |
 | Forum Reply | Players admit they haven't been giving 100 per cent at 13:46 5 Nov 2025
I have no sympathy for these players who earn an enormous amount of money - the least they should do is try. However, if you want to keep clapping and supporting them - that's up to you. However, it's you they are ripping off! I hope those of you going today and on Saturday let your feelings known towards these players. My suggestion would be that the players should have white feathers on their shirts this weekend instead of poppies to highlight their abject cowardice. |
 | Forum Reply | Top 3 Hidden Gem Cities at 13:34 8 Oct 2025
I used to live just outside of Portsmouth New Hampshire and the state itself was a wonderful place to live. I'm not a fan of many US cities - one because I find them a bit samey and two because they are becoming increasingly expensive! I'm surprised no one has mentioned any of the Scandinavian or Baltic state cities as they are great. I do agree that Valetta is wonderful and I have a soft spot for most German cities, having lived in Germany as well. I'll throw in: 1) Belgrade - fun city, increasingly cosmopolitan and people speak great English. The food and drink are brilliant. Of course, they have a football rivalry to match Saints/skates as well! 2) Ashgabat - the weirdest city I have ever been to. A white marble city in the desert some 30 miles from Iran, where all the cars are white and clean (by law!) and every building has some form of symbolism. People are friendly but the city is quiet. 3) Singapore - great architecture and variety of food & drink. Everything works and people speak English! Horrible climate though. |

Who knows? Even less point to this speculation than raking over old coals (which you don't seem to like when it contradicts your own opinions). |

With the recent VE80 celebrations, I can't help but think that if the current crop of players and staff had been around in the 1940's we'd all be speaking German now. |

Some of our under 21's may be worth a punt as well. Looking at the recent highlights they seem fitter and more enthused that the first team players. With the right manager and some experience in the line up - why not? Also, who do Saints have on loan at Goztepe? |
 | Forum Reply | Who do we want as the new permanent Saints manager? at 16:36 7 Apr 2025
Actually, Fonte working with Lallana and Spors, and maybe even Rusk, could be an inspired move. He was very good at motivating players around him, something that has been sadly lacking since he left. He understands English football at both Championship and Premier League level. Also, I think he still owns property in the city, retaining a link to the city. [Post edited 7 Apr 16:42]

Worth remembering: Only one country has ever asked for NATOs assistance. America. After 9/11. I think Trump and Vance are jealous of Zelenskyy - after all he's a real hero not just a motor mouth! [Post edited 4 Mar 14:57]

There is one word to sum up the players - cowards! |

Comparing the current squad of a Premier League team who have had not insignificant financial investment with the squads of a Championship club which was heading for bankruptcy is frankly a bit desperate! It's like comparing mouldy oranges with rotten apples. |
 | Forum Reply | Parsons Has To Go at 15:40 24 Feb 2025
A great example of Parsons' running of the non-football side of the business was the FA Cup ticket pricing. To Nick's point, sensible pricing would have attracted more casual fans, which in turn would have boosted revenue from the shop, food & drink etc. The fact that the clear and obvious Swansea mistake was repeated for the Burnley game suggests that Parsons hasn't got really a clue about revenue generation. |
