Saints Will Play Vitesse
at 23:53:13

Probably a blessing in disguise.

No point spending the entire season getting to a final and then finding you're up against the favourites only to get beaten.

Far better to play the favourites early and if we lose, we haven't wasted our time.

Or beat them and know that they are out of the way.

We Are Still Fifth !!!
at 15:06:38

I appreciate that we are still 5th but it is not as if the 'blip' games could not have been won.

Despite the weakened teams through the injuries and the poor runs, Saints have lost games they could have and should have won (e.g. Swansea).

It is not as if they haven't had chances in front of goal; they have had plenty.

The lack of finishing skills and the standard of putting in a decent cross has been poor.

Having said this, Saints are still good for their fifth place, and sixth or seventh come the end of the season.

However, for me it will be a disappointment knowing what might have been had our players been able to put the ball away properly in front of goal, especially as we are as good if not better than Liverpool, Man U and Spurs.

Of the players who left in the summer, it is Ricky I have missed the most.

So let's not settle for fifth.

I believe Saints, if they start to re-get their act together can end the season higher than fifth and if they do, this could kick start a whole new mentality at the club when at last we begin to punch above our weight and win (instead of remaining a mediocre one where relegation is always an issue).

Come on you Saints!

Saints V West Ham United The Verdict
at 20:36:49

Agree with Bstokesaint.

If we want CL next season, we have got to be beating the likes of Swansea and West Ham (and Man U at home when we had the chances, loads of them).

I see these as points dropped because when we get to play the really big teams, it is going to be so much harder to find points.

Having said this, fourth is great but it would be a shame to have come so far (so quickly) and then throw all these positive advances away.

Yes we have injuries but so do all teams even those playing CL already.

Saints can still pull this round but things have got to change on the pitch and at the end of the day, this is up to the players and how much they believe and how much they want it.

Saints V Arsenal The Verdict
at 19:09:49

A great team performance.

Mane: He has been a revelation since RK started playing him on the right.

Gardos: It's early days and he will need time to learn the way the football it played in the Premiership. Everyone use to go on (and still do) about Yoshido but he has and still is finding his way; like Gardos and many others in this Saints team, very few have played in this league. If they're playing this well right now, the future is indeed bright.

Forster: Yes he's not the finished article but he's not far off and he's one of the best English GKs in the league. He will only get better.

Victor: Immense in every way and MS was not missed which is the way it should be especially if he goes to the Emirates eventually. Actually I believe MS was the missing player Arsenal needed.

Pelle: Has got to put it about more and stop going down or complaining every time the ref turns a blind eye. Should play to the whistle. Sometimes when he leads the line, tends to have a moan at at one of the others for doing what he does. Understanding still needs to bed in.

Really enjoying this season and if we can do Man U in their own back garden we will have arrived in the big time. Also we have to do the same to Liverpool and Spurs.

These are early days for this team but so exciting too.

Saints At Burnley The Verdict
at 19:17:37

I don't think it's about luck at all.

In the last five games, Saints have had to so many chances (especially against Man U) but have failed to take them.

Our 'bad luck' will continue until someone starts to put away the chances.

If Aguerro or Van Persie had scored from the number of chances created, Saints would be 10 to 15 goals to the good.

I don't know if it's a confidence thing but forwards have got to do what they are paid to do.

Mane is increasingly a worry and seems to be behind the pace of the Premiership, which to my mind is going to see him sent off before long.

Anyway these results are behind us; we can only look forward, onward and upward.
