History mainly. My fitness coach who's in his late 20s, fell in love with them when he was a kid. Mainly because of CRonaldo. There are many like him, particularly in places where the exposure to English football is limited to the Premier League, and mostly it's "Big" clubs. |

A 'statement game' if ever there was one.
Looking back over our pre-game predictions the most optimistic hoped for a low-scoring draw. Koné's selection especially made even that seem pie-in the-sky. But football will occasionally surprise you big-time, it's why we love it. He was truly immense, leading the line in every sense. From the lumbering, injury riddled slug of previous appearances this season, he'd metamorphised into the reincarnation of Alfredo di Stefano in his pomp. I'm still gob-smacked. What kind of magic is that?
The rest of the team were every bit as good. Looking for weaknesses seems petty and several steps beside the point. We were good. Bloody good. And if — and I know it's a big one — we can repeat that kind of showing on a regular basis we'll be a force to be reckoned with in this division. |

The difference between Koné today and Koné on every other occasion we've seen him this season is night and day. It's almost eerie. He even looks like a different person. |

I know we want to burn the witch but unless they're muscle injuries, it's hard to mitigate beyond not playing so many games in such a short space of time at the start of the season. If most medical departments are having nightmares, is it really all the medical departments? Or is the schedule and the intensity? I lean towards the later.
That does seem most likely. This season's ridiculous raft of games so early in the schedule, interspersed with extended breaks, is likely to be the main culprit. Other clubs in this division do have similar issues, naturally those with deeper squads (and, more money) should benefit most. We'll probably suffer worse than some, and less than others, as usual.
