Nottingham Forest Mulling Over Move For Saints Star

He is off to Italy to Juventus it looks like with a loan and a 40m buy in clause.

There is a real player in there but our type of game doesn’t suit him hence he only gets bit parts. I expect we are about to buy in the window one more signing with Premier experience ready for if we get there next season , watch this space.

SF73 says we have the money to walk this division but to our cost we have spent big before on useless players so money isn’t everything as we saw with little old Luton v Brighton last night

You have to work as a team and that’s what team Saints are doing at present so we can buy expensive players but they need to gel as a team and Martin has managed with his tactics also got a squad to preform and fight till the last second of every game as we have seen by so many late goals they just keep trying and some expensive players don’t have that attitude.

Benson from Burnley is incoming if we can get Holgate off our loan books as Everton don’t want his wage so we need to get some other mug to take him on a loan deal.

1-1 draw I am happy with, as we gain 2 points on both of them and as long as vestergard plays for Leicester we have a chance of catching them.

Leeds will be our competition at the end of the season and we play them away last game of the season. We need to keep at least 3 points ahead of them.

A word of caution Swansea had their chances and a better team would have penalised us. But we all know that.

A) Funny that you were in September saying outttttttttt! Now he’s ok and you wouldn’t sack him.
B) The manager this season at Burnley is not willing to change the way they play.
C) No credit for Wilcox for signing Lavia and then selling him for a huge profit?
D) With the toxic atmosphere at St Mary’s no player showed their best. It’s like a broken marriage you just want to get out!

Butty101, A) So are you saying that if we finish 3rd and miss out in the playoffs RM will have to go?
B) I agree we were getting tanked but has sorted that by adjusting his play some managers don’t do that Burnley being a perfect example.
C) I can count just can’t write! If you read it again it says I think we are top 3 with Leicester and Leeds and that Watford etc also have ok squads to counter the argument that we should be up there because of money and squad.
He has gambled on Stewart which might or might not pay off but I would agree not ideal to be injured for so long , the ex Man City player you are saying is not up to I don’t know who you are talking about and he bought and sold Lavia for £50+ so has a hell of a lot of credit in the bank !
D) The St Mary’s crowd did not help the team to try and play out of trouble whereas the away game supporters did try and lift the players. Going into a hostile atmosphere does not help players to preform. Just like at work if you have a shi- boss you don’t give your all to him or the business.

I started this thread A) To see if the real anti any manager would still voice being anti RM or anyone else we had and it appears that is the case.
B) I agree like the majority that the tactics / squad would be found out in the premiership but we can have fun getting there and a good manager should adapt his team for it and maybe reinvent his tactics similar to what RM has done so far this season.
C) The argument so far that we should be top two because of the squad well personally I would rate us third best behind Leicester and Leeds and Watford , Middlesbrough, WBA have good squads also.
There has been comments regarding loan players well I can only applaud Wilcox and his team for finding some excellent loanees except for Holgate who appears to have lost all confidence from playing at Everton.
D) Negativity by fans at St Mary’s put pressure on the players over the last couple of seasons I always felt they tried better away because they didn’t have such pressure. The positivity around St Mary’s is fantastic at present and you can see that the players are enjoying it and the results are coming.
E) I worry that Leeds will pip us for the second spot in the last game of the season so I would love us to keep eating into the Leicester lead to bring them into the mix and get some pressure on them as any team that has vestegard as an automatic CB choice must be able to be got at by teams.
F) The post was not to get people to apologise etc but just to highlight that for once the management team made the right call and they must be applauded on not listening to a group of negative supporters who have every right to have free speech and all that but appear to very rarely have a good thing to say about the players and the club and although I will get crucified for saying that it’s my opinion and as I know we are all allowed opinions but to say sack RM , Wilcox & The board in Sept was a total over reaction to losing 4 games on the trot and I am glad these supporters don’t run my business with that type of overreaction to the situation as ending up with no manager , no transfer manager, no board we would of been in the same state as teams like Sheffield Weds.
Anyway I have made my comments let’s try and help Saints overhaul Leicester Ipswich and keep Leeds over 4 points behind us so that last game of the season won’t matter for us.

I just looked back to see which of the forum members in Sept were calling for RM , Wilcox and the board for sackings and it’s interesting to see many are claiming how great a buzz it is at present yet if some people at the club had listened to them ( thank god they didn’t) so early into his Management term at SFC RM would of been on his bike and some journeyman manager who had failed with many clubs would of been given the job.

Instead we are watching exciting football which has been missing at St Mary’s for so long whether it’s good enough to gain automatic promotion only time will tell but if we sell Adams we need another goal scorer to come in that’s for sure.

I just hope that when we get into choppy waters again the clamber to get rid of everyone at the top is not lead by the same ones again who know who they are as they have gone on record on this forum with comments in September.

As a club we all need to pull in the same direction which I think is the way we are going at present in good times as well as bad.

I have said before games in the Championship are the best when we were here last time and this time, no VAR , away support is tremendous and it’s so good to be a supporter at present after so many hard times.

Copied from the Echo , the squad to get us back to the Premiership although I quite like the Championship with no VAR , competitive games , good support etc. but I know if we don’t get back our status of a club will diminish.

Personally I would like them to have swapped McCarthy for say Henderson. Bednarek for say the Swansea lad, maybe upgrade one of our full backs Spence from Tottenham would have been a good call. Djenepo , Onuachu move on as No need to replace as we have cover.

Goalkeepers

Gavin Bazunu, Alex McCarthy, Joe Lumley.

Defenders

Kyle Walker-Peters, James Bree, Jack Stephens, Jan Bednarek, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Mason Holgate, Ryan Manning, Juan Larios, Jayden Meghoma, Zach Awe, Derrick Abu.

Midfielders

Will Smallbone, Flynn Downes, Shea Charles, Charly Alcaraz, Stuart Armstrong, Joe Aribo, Kami Doyle, Adam Armstrong.

Attackers

Che Adams, Adam Armstrong, Ross Stewart, Paul Onuachu, Sekou Mara, Sam Amo-Ameyaw, Sam Edozie, Ryan Fraser, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Moussa Djenepo.

The transfer window is still open in places like Turkey and Saudi Arabia and further exits could occur.
Am I right in saying loaning out is still possible outside of the transfer window.

Just my thoughts

What I like about Wilcox is that he has maxed out on the money he could get on the players leaving who either were to good to play in the championship, didn’t like the new managers tactics or who Saints board had put a value on their heads and if anyone met it then they would sell them.

A few more to go by next weekend surplus to requirements.

Two more CBs leaving us and Holgate and the Swansea kid coming in.

Good to see some experience coming in although my Everton mate says Holgate has a fault in him ever game but might be able to get away with it in the Championship.

Tella has gone to BL in Germany signed today for a 20m euro package so hence Ryan coming in on loan.

I have to say £12-15m for Che seems cheap as he might start scoring goals with another club. Must be worth £20-25m at least.

I am getting good vibes about JW he has maxed out on the transfers £s in holding his ground on all the big transfers. I am guessing more insignificant transfers still to happen as dont forget we ended bottom of the Premiership by quite along way from safety and a clear out was needed to reshape the team.

With three or four to come in very soon seems to be the general feeling we should have a team which will only have a few players left from the relegation team and £100m paid off our debt outstanding which was looking serious.

Personally i would like to see an experienced keeper , break up our central pairing as they have leaked goals over a number of seasons now, bring in the West Ham lad to sit in front of the defense and bring in an experienced target man. Then I would be happy.

Dean Henderson has just been released by forest back to Man Utd I seem to remember he was a very good keeper, maybe he just wants a new start in the Championship.

If you want to take a manager that kept Burnley in the Prem just season after season all be it on a shoestring and then got relegated fine and now managers a Prem team that survived on the last day of the season after spending over £600m on players recently great but I would rather take some risks and find a hidden gem just like Brighton , Brentford managers and use some of the buys that actually have potential of which we have 5 or 6 and add Tella and a couple of the original team to build again.

I hate this pool of 15 or so managers that keep getting recycled from one club to another , there must be other managers out there just waiting for the chance and have huge potential we just got to find one and that is the hardest part of the jigsaw.

Why would he go down to the championship with a club going backwards with so many issues and a big debt and with the payoff he got he can bide his time.
