With 1 minute to go and 2 goals ahead, is it to much to ask for Saints to take the corner and look for a fourth goal rather than try to waste the final minute? Can someone please remind the coach and players that we pay to watch this?
Watching Saints, faced with 11-men behind the ball in front of (because we were slow ponderous moving upfield) pump cross after cross into the box and expecting short-arsed forwards to win a header, let alone do anything (score?) with one, is just infuriating!
Lack of clinical finishing is a key factor. Sticking with the Newcastle vs PSG game... 2/3 of Newcastle's shots were ON TARGET. HALF of these resulted in GOALS. Or, to put it another way, they scored with 1 in 3 of their shots. Our record is nowhere close to this.
My heart sank when I heard that our new manager based his game on Possession. Anyone with a brain knows that this equals boring and often unproductive football. Take a look at the stats from Newcastle's 4-1 win over PSG last week... The Toon had only 27% possession, got just ONE corner and only managed 1 more shot than PSG. But they scored 4 goals and won the match easily. RM's philosophy is fatally flawed and delivers minimal entertainment. I am sad at the way things are, but it was toally predictable. I simply won't waste my money on an afternoon of frustration and disappointment.
Why Oh Why didn't we take Eddie Howe when he was available?
The BBC Sport Football scores and fixtures page has started listing the Saudi league. (See Thursday's fixtures). Why? who wants to follow the fortunes of a bunch of mercenaries?
I didn't buy a season ticket and if the tw4ts sell Che I shall feel 100% justified. Che is a fantastic weapon in the Championship, without his goals we would have TWO points, not 7.
The appalling lack of urgency when it was 1-1 was infuriating. It took the subs (who should have been brought on MUCH earlier) to inject any action or fight.
The Club Website has posted the key dates for the coming season:- In May they list the FA Cup Final Sat 25th and Championship Play Off Final Sunday 26th. Busy weekend for Saints by the sound of it!
People keep saying how well we have been doing lately. Well, we've kept clean sheets, but what we also need is GOALS. We can't keep hoping for no screw-ups and scraping by with 1 goal. Play PAUL!
