They're professional footballers. They're meant to be able to do this. The teams we are playing are more or less in the same boat and they seem to be able to do a 3 game week. I go back to times when we played 3 times a week on churned mud with one sub. It's also on the players to say, I'm not sure I can do 90 gaffer. But, they should be able to play 3 times a week. That's the job. It's hardly a mad surprise on them.
To be honest, he stuck mainly with the same team this week and what do you do if they wreck the climate with brain farts through the entire first half? Most of that is on the players.
Steve Bould: So what I want you to do lads is when the ball comes in from a set piece, don't just put it in row Z or smash it to the half way line, dawdle on it in the area and give it way. Then, once you've done that successfully, do it again.
I do wonder what he does in these training sessions and I was convinced he was a great addition to the backroom this season.
To be fair we dawdled on the ball generally up the other end. If I had an overall word for today's performance it would be 'concussed'.
That 4th goal wasn't offside. Nardi made several fantastic saves.
After 2 very solid performances this really wasn't good but we have a week to put it right now. No point in dwelling. Onto the next one.
I'm starting to wonder if he feels Kone isn't fit enough at the moment? No idea really but overall it was a bad one and hopefully they put it right in a week of training. Although it was inevitable that we would lose to a team that previously couldn't buy a win I do feel that having two occasions where we have to travel long distances twice against teams that have had a day more to recover than us is just sh*t scheduling by the EFL. I know it is just an excuse and to be fair to Stephan he says we should be ready for it, but perhaps it does give the home team a bit of an advantage? Certainly does against us.
Overall, as someone else said we could have won one and got two draws and be a point worse off. So we have to shake this one off and come out firing against WBA and the two matches beyind that.
I'd love to see Paul sig a new contract. He makes a big difference either starting or from the bench and he is loved by fans here. Why move unless he feels he needs a change? Definitely a player I would be looking to lock down again asap.
The push on Saito first half is an interesting one because we didn't appeal for it at all. I've seen those given and on the first watch you think penalty. Whether or not there was enough in it is debatable but he definitely loses his footing in the clash and that is nowhere near the ball. But we didn't appeal it at all.
Otherwise, our luck was in a bit but we very much deserved this win.
