Southampton At Everton The Verdict
at 11:57:21

For their goal, it looked to me on the highlights as if Salisu, no. 22 jumped to head the ball but missed it.

Will James Ward Prowse Start To Blossom Under Nathan Jones

Regarding NJ's coaching ability. A knowledgeable Leicester fan I was talking to had hoped they would get NJ if Rogers had left when he was under pressure earlier in the season. The reason being that, as youngsters, Dewsbury Hall and Justin had both gone on loan to Luton and come back from there much better players than when they had left.

Southampton Injury Crisis Ahead Of Arsenal Game

Not a good time to be missing full backs with Martinelli and Saka to face. I would play Larios on the left and Peraud on the right. At least he doesnt have to go for the Jack Stephens option now.

Jan Bednarek Annoys Saints Fans With His Comments On Joining Aston Villa

I don't think that saying complimentary things about the club he has just signed to join for a year reflects a lack of respect for the Saints.

Bit of a coincidence. My wife's cousin Jimmy runs the San Capistrano bike shop (Buy My Bikes) that he started 40 years ago. One time we went to visit we took his twins Saints kit as they had just started to play Soccer. Sounds like you are doing great work out there Tim.

Southampton At Manchester City The Preview

Picking Ramsey to play against Sterling and starting Jankewitz are both too risky for me. Also, I'd rest Tella. So for me some of the previously injured players do need to start, but maybe bring them off after an hour or so and give the youngsters a go then, including Watts?

Southampton At Wolverhampton Wanderers The FA Cup Verdict
at 22:19:44

I'm feeling very positive about tonight's performance. Thought Salisu looked accomplished for first game (contrary to patronising comments from BT commentators), Redmond really put himself about, even winning the ball in the air and holding it up! Djnepo getting better and looking more comfortable, could turn out to be a real star. Could go on saying something positive about the whole team (and subs). Very enjoyable evening after a bad run.

Ryan Bertrand Wants To Stay At St Mary's As New Deal Gets Nearer.

I don't often post on here, but feel I must stand up for a great player and terrific servant to the club. Ryan has been a permanent fixture at right back for over six years, scarcely injured, seldom has a bad game and often excels.
A lot of the comments refer to him as 'a good signing' aka 'value for money' which doesn't do justice to his contribution over the years. Interpreting 'body language' and 'attitude' is tricky from the terraces but personally, I have never doubted his commitment.
I also thought his comments about Grenfell were well judged and appeared to be from the heart. He stated a while ago that he would like a business role in football and I think we should try to roll that in to any new contract. Great player and true Saint IMHO. Glad I've got that off my chest.

Time To Identify The Real Cause Of Saints Problems !
at 11:08:13

Good morning. Although I've been following the Saints for over 40 years and regularly read the posts on this site, this is a rare post from me and I hope you wont mind me putting in my tuppence worth about the current defence.

Given the recent results when playing 4 at the back, I think Ralph is almost certain to revert to a 5 man back line for the immediate future. Like others, I would like to see Bertrand in the back three along with two from Bednarek, Danso or Yoshida assuming there is adequate right wing back cover. If not, then those three should be given a go in the centre of a 5 man defence.

I also think we are a bit thin in the defensive midfield roles if Romeu or Hojberg are injured or suspended due to cards. This seems pretty certain to happen at some point and I'm not sure who could step in to effectively replace them when it does.

Finally, I do think we have a good manager who performed a minor miracle to keep us up last season and we should stick with him.
