I’ve always thought of them as nigh on identical to us really, the difference is they went with SISA and we didn’t.
In terms of support, trophies, leagues they’ve often been in (putting aside when they had their club nearly killed) and even down to the fact their home got flattened in the war, there’s actually a lot more similarities than not.

Was more a comment on success with England rather than ability, that side weren't massively successful sadly.
With Hampshire however he was much more successful |

He was brilliant for Hampshire, especially in the short form, remember him pretty much single handily taking us to the Natwest Trophy.
Sadly he never really turned on that form the same for england, and like you say he had some serious demons after he retried.

We were in the wheatshaft pre game which was pretty quiet so that was decent, considered getting food in borough market but they were charging £13 for a sausage sandwich and like f*ck am i playing that.
One other thing i forgot to add in my five things (or six now) is how bad Damion Downs was, i can't think of a professional footballer i've seen that had such a bad first touch.
Literally everytime the ball came into him it'd bounce off his foot like he'd got one shaped like a 50p coin and his reading of the game seemed no existent.
Surely he has to go down as one of the worst signings we've ever made? |

1. Really like the Valley as a ground, it has character it's in between houses and it felt like a proper football ground rather than a bowl
2. The market porter needs to change it's online information as it was shut when we got there about 10am
3. Greenwich after was a lovely place for a drink but jesus christ was it expensive.
4. That was the best performance i've seen in seasons, the first half we absolutely blew them away and it was great to see.
5. The obsession with Nathan Jones is really f*cking weird, yeah he was bad for us but nowhere as bad as some of the managers since yet our fans acted as if he was some kind of ex who'd jilted them at the alter. Very, very odd behaviour. |

Absolutely gripping first day of play, Ben Stokes bowling was incredible. Means we're in a good place but I expect the wicket to do less for the bowlers and more for the batters in the second innings so there's a long way to go yet.
Be another early start for me tomorrow ahead of Charlton as i want to watch some before i leave for the game. |

My argument would be without Mani's bass they're nothing more than any other indie rock band and fade into obscurity.
His bass gave them a groove that made them stand out and made them different, which is why i think he's the most important member personally. |

Arguably the most important member of one of the most important bands of my youth. Brilliant musician for not the roses and primal scream.
Really sad he died so young and have to feel for his nippers who’ve lost both their parents two years apart and they’re not even in their teens yet |

I actually have a sneaking feeling we might win the first test due to the convicts injuries so I’m sure missing Charlton won’t matter if we do.
I’d love to do the Boxing Day test in the ashes some day, but explaining to the missus who doesn’t like cricket that I want to spend Xmas in Australia to watch a test match is a hard sell |

Very jealous about the Ashes, always been on my bucket list to do an Ashes in Oz (even if we don't win there).
I'll be at The Valley, feel like it's been ages since we last played there so looking forward to it (stupid kick off time aside). |
