Love these guys
at 12:26 19 Feb 2026

I’m all for this and I apologise if the following comment sounds pretentious…feel free to send to pseuds corner.

My fondest memory of Faurlin was seeing him sitting outside a coffee shop in Chiswick after the last home game of 15/16 season. We’d won 1-0, Karl Henry (remember him?) with a rare goal, and not a bad one at that. I also remember the Bristol City players didn’t come out after the game which seemed rude. Anyway, it was a warm sunny day and Ale was relaxing with his family. He was still in his QPR suit minus the tie. He looked relaxed and happy. For a moment it was a perfect snap shot of professional football life. He was the total antithesis of the generic, brainless footballer (Rowan Vine…etc). I felt lucky to have a classy player like Ale represent QPR. I pointed him out to my friend, who seemed more excited than me. He told me to go talk to him and get a picture. I said no, told him we should leave him be, let him enjoy his time with his family. For me that wasn’t the time or place. If I was going to talk to him I’d want the time to really talk football, full on Jonathan Wilson/Mundial vibes.

I love Ale’s genuine passion for the game, for playing in midfield, the craft of playing, that fine line between instinct and technical ability. Playing with style and a relentless pursuit of perfection. The perfect touch, the perfect pass. Instinctively knowing where to be. The coffee shop is the perfect setting for this conversation, evoking images of 1920’s Vienna:

For me football is all about the romance and fleeting moments of joy. You have to savour and embellish both. There’s a lot wrong with modern football, but Ale’s one of the rare bright spots.

Don’t get me wrong mate, I’m not happy with our mediocracy and certainly not happy when we lose games like Saturday. Do I think the club should and can do better? Yes! I appreciate my comment is annoying to read after Saturday, but it is born out of frustration. Frustration that we can’t see off a sh*t team at home and string a few wins together, especially when the play-offs are in sight.

I don’t know who’s to blame anymore. The players? The head coach? CEO? The board? Epstein? Late capitalism? Jude the Cat?!

What doesn’t he get about English football that our previous managers understood? We’ve been crap since being relegated from the premier league. The owners have tried to balance the books and the reality of doing so is not being competitive. That is our reality. You have to enjoy the odd wins, Birmingham, Leicester, Coventry etc because that’s as good as it gets for us.

Painting by Peter Doig (one of my favourite painters) inspired by the iconic ending to Friday 13th. Sold for £30mill, probably worth more than our entire squad!

EFL clubs to vote on expanding Championship playoffs to six clubs
at 23:53 10 Feb 2026

The idea of a play-off opens itself to expansion, so it’s not a totally ridiculous idea or one that is likely to have a negative impact on the game like VAR. What difference does it make to QPR if an average team sneaks into the PL? It could be us and it could be us getting that cash injection. Over the long term could it make the championship more competitive?

Field to Norwich

I like Sam and think he’s a good squad player. But it’s unrealistic to expect him to hang about just for the odd sub appearance. As he said in his Norwich interview, he wants to play. When you think about some of the charlatans we’ve had at the club, he’s definitely been one of the better pro’s. Good luck to him.

The team have some dignity to reclaim and I hope they treat this game like a cup final.

Top 3 is really difficult, but I know for sure that Repo Man would be in there.

You'll need at least 4 of the 36 pack boxes which comes in at £144! What have I got myself into?

You're right, I had him down for 9 goals and not 10.

The broader point I'm making is we're finding players with good records abroad that struggle in the Champ or take time to acclimatise (Madsen) and I was wondering if we could do more to support them? Frey had a good goal scoring record at his previous club. It also links to our injury crisis. I'm starting to think there's something we're doing wrong in terms of onboarding new players .

Frey had one of the worst goals to game ratio in recent times, 0.18, compared to 0.58 for Royal Antwerp. Highlights the risk of our current strategy of getting in players from Europe.

We need to really think about how we integrate new players into the league.

Apart from more game time and goals, couldn’t have asked for more from him!

Yeah same, nostalgia driven impulse buy. I got the album, but haven’t seen the stickers on sale anywhere! On a side note, I got Chair in one of the packs that came with album.

He will be singled out and even if we had won it was still a pointless sending off. He needs a serious talking to.

To lose like we did is a team effort IMO.

I’m still annoyed.

That was bloody mental. I had low expectations due to injuries etc, so I was pleasantly surprised with how we played - until the end of course. I can’t remember a game collapsing like that before.

Not sure if Mbengue can be blamed. We should be able to see out the last 4 mins of the game!!!!! Even with 10 men!!

We shouldn’t have lost, so bloody frustrating!!!
