| Forum Reply | Frank Sibley RIP at 10:59 12 May 2024
Ah, Brian, it was a fair while ago I wrote that on here. Stand by every word of it though, it's so important we remember the people who contributed so much to Queens Park Rangers FC. I understand why the training ground's been named after the owner's dad, but... As for beautifully worded, your phrase is perfect. I let out an audible groan when I saw the news of Frank Sibley's passing yesterday. His 30-odd years at QPR corresponded almost perfectly with the 30-odd years where we had good teams playing good football and we collectively enjoyed a modicum of success and a lot of excitement. He contributed hugely to that, in a variety of roles, and is someone I immediately associate with QPR teams of those decades. RIP |

The Premier League rule is 3,000 seats, or 10% of capacity if the stadium holds less than 30,000. There is some leeway though, because some clubs give a few less when the stadium design doesn't allow the full amount in a segregated way. I *think* with the EFL it's 2,000 or 10%. Pretty sure Loftus Rd holds less than 18,000 these days, so the School End Upper should suffice for all visiting teams, and it did for Sheffield Wednesday, so there may be some other reason why Leeds were given extra. |

The three shades of blue is kind of quirky and I don't mind it. As others have said though, the collar doesn't work, both the little triangle and the way the raglan sleeves prevent a real hoop. The betting thing is also an issue, as ever, but the club have made it very clear they need the money more than they care about that. |
| Forum Reply | Three is the cursed number as QPR fall in a hole at Hull - Report at 20:17 15 Apr 2024
I keep seeing people, on here and social media, talking about re-signing Willock, which to me is utterly bizarre. Ignoring the fact that he almost certainly wouldn't sign a new contract, what is it that people are seeing in his performances since Cifuentes arrived? Besides which, I'd be amazed if Cifuentes would want him - he plays him because he doesn't have many alternatives. Same goes for our new whizkid MBA CEO, stats-based player analysis does not highlight players like Chris Willock for high value contracts from cash-strapped Championship clubs looking to punch above their weight. |

I like Smyth. He's a good guy, works hard in attack and defence, brings pace and attitude to our team, and clearly very much wants to play for QPR. He has his limitations, of course, but I'm happy to overlook those because of the positive things he brings. In the Championship he's best used as an option off the bench - get him on in the second half when we need something, let him run at tiring defenders, make space for other players to work in. |
| Forum Reply | Armstrong New Contract ? at 10:26 8 Apr 2024
This thread is really something. Sinclair Armstrong is 20 years old and plays mainly off the bench for a team at the bottom of the Championship, I really don't know what some of you are expecting from him. I'll say it again; Les Ferdinand was 24 before he started scoring goals. Of course Armstrong gets a new contract and of course he gets the time and coaching he needs to develop over the next 2 or 3 years. Anything else would be a terrible decision, and a dereliction of the club's absolute duty to develop players. |

Wednesday were stronger, faster and more aggressive than us - and some of our players simply didn't want to know. I'm looking directly at Mr Willock here, amongst others but he was the worst for it. In a way It's a good thing, just to remind ourselves that some of these guys simply aren't good enough and we'll be glad to see the back of them in the summer. A couple of recent wins ran the risk of papering over that. This squad still needs cleaning out. |

Yes, I always take issue with people diminishing our fanbase, we are not a mall club. We do have a small stadium, but that's a different issue. |

Jim Gregory put a few bob into QPR over the years obviously, but I wouldn't say it was the main driver of our success. The best thing he did really was get the youth team working well - we produced an awful lot of of our own players from the mid-60's to mid-90s, and Gregory would wheel and deal to top that up with signings. The instinct that made him very rich at a young age also allowed him to buy and sell for good prices at the right times. Lots of players sold for good profits when he was in charge. And he got all of his money back when he sold up. |
| Forum Reply | Should Sheff Weds get whole school end ? at 11:41 15 Mar 2024
I get that we need every penny, however, I do think we could do more to fill Loftus Rd on our own and not rely on visiting fans to fill the lower tier. Ticket offers, youth groups, heck even winning more than we lose(!). Do that ourselves and we're only talking about a couple of hundred seats in the front rows that would be unsold. |
| Forum Reply | Should Sheff Weds get whole school end ? at 11:30 15 Mar 2024
For league games (both Championship and Premier League when we eventually return) I'd only ever give the away team the absolutely minimum - which is 10% of capacity. That means giving them the top tier and we use the lower tier, even if that means a couple of rows unsold at the very front. We should never give our opponents a helping hand. Cup games are different, I think you have to offer 15% of capacity, so for practical purposes that means the whole of the School End. |

Frey, Field and Cook all looked completely shagged out. Wilock and Chair back to their ball-hogging worst, unwilling to put crosses into the box. Begovic at fault for both goals - just collapsed for the first one and should never concede a header from that angle for the second. Best thing we can do is forget it and move on. Take a few days rest, then prepare for Sunderland. |

I like Viktor Johansson a lot, he's possibly the best keeper in the Championship, but thought he was poor for winning goal. I was sitting directly behind it in the lower loft and, although the ball moved a little bit in the air, he really should have saved it. Either way, if he leaves Rotherham in the summer I doubt he'll be too interested in us. |

| Forum Reply | Benham potentially selling Brentford? at 20:26 21 Feb 2024
No, this is not what Rothschild's has valued the club at. It's what someone (probably connected to Benham) has told a journalist the club is valued at. |
| Forum Reply | Benham potentially selling Brentford? at 16:28 21 Feb 2024
I don't think Ashley was desperate to sell, he took his time to find a right buyer at the right price. He wasn't interested in throwing his own money in (which is what the Newcastle fans meant when they called for 'investment') to fund transfers and wages but I'm pretty sure he made money whilst owning the club. Brentford are not worth 10% of Man Utd. The latter is a money-making machine, for the owners, and always will be. The former has had a great few years but what they're doing relies on a never-ending supply of young players they can sell on. We, and lots of other clubs across the history of the game, have operated that model and it always comes undone at some point. Once that happens, whether in 1 year or 10, they go back to being a small club in a small ground with a small fanbase. |

I'm sure we've gone over this before. If you demolished the School End and rebuilt it as a single-tiered stand - on the same footprint as we currently have - the capacity would be reduced. |
