As stressful as it was to watch that was a great win on Saturday just for the fact that we actually gritted our teeth and battled our way through it which is not something we have done for a while - credit to the coaching team on building some resiliance into our game which is an absolute must in the championship. I'm still not convinced by the Burgess & Cabango partnership at the back however but in fairness they worked much better doubling up on Armstrong this week than they did vs the Derby lump last week - a positive. If we are to challenge up the top next season we do need more strength in this position to achieve more consistent results. I agree with another poster on here that Vip could work a bit harder to hold the ball up or put more pressure on the centre halves to give us an out ball, in saying that however when you look at some of the best premier league strikers they do very little off the ball now which seems to be the way so perhaps i'm too old fashioned in wanting a bit more physicality or involvement from our striker. The seeds have been planted for further progress which is the most important thing and gives me confidence that Matos can continue to evolve this team with a few new additions into a candidate for promotion next season. I still cant see us getting into the play offs this season because of our away form,I really hope i'm proved wrong. |

It's a shame that you cant find ONE positive thing to say about the club, surely you don't feel negative and miserable all the time? I will take a punt for you so you can start your week off on a positive note: New manager - seems to know what he is doing, could build something with time The football - Saturday aside has been a lot more enjoyable these past 8 weeks Vipotnik / Tymon /Galbraith - 3 players as good as any outside the premier league. There aren't many 'happy clappers' on this forum to be fair, I think most people understand where we are right now as a club. Your posts & comments would be more respected if you added more balance is my point. |

Dishing out constant criticism is fine but I do think for your own sanity you could possibly offer more balance to your posts especially when we win or play well - c'mon its not all bad is it and we dont lose every week?? Frustrating 80% of the time supporting the swans I admit but certainly not all doom & gloom as your majority of posts suggest. It would be great to get your opinion on 3 things we are getting right / good at currently? |

Left the game yesterday with my son wondering why we reverted to the old sideways and backwards style of football that’s got us nowhere in recent seasons. This slow, cautious, and bland approach shouldn’t be seen ever again in SA1 or anywhere else for that matter, hopefully the coaches see it as just a one-off or relapse after what’s been a good positive spell. We played okay in parts of the first half yesterday but carried no attacking threat, leaving Derby more than happy to sit back and watch us play crab football. Their only real outlet was Agyemang, who bullied an exposed Cabango throughout the first half, with little support from Burgess or anyone else. This was frustrating as it was obvious to everyone where their danger lay. A shape change or more support could’ve nullified it, especially since there wasn’t much threat elsewhere?? Burgess and Cabango tend to keep a big gap between them to help keep possession, which works when we have the ball but is a problem when we don’t. Failing to address this early on and leaaving Cabango exposed just encouraged Derby to keep hitting the big man, who regularly won free kicks and got them up the pitch—it was like watching a praying mantis chasing its prey. A hugely frustrating performance overall, but on balance, I have to accept we’re a mid-table team, still a work in progress with lots of room to improve, especially on physicality and also the dark arts of defending. |

With respect - any keeper that is good enough to replace Vig will not settle for being second choice so is unlikely to join the Swans. Even the most ambitious clubs do not have 2 top quality keepers on their books, regardless of your opinion of Fisher you cant accuse the club of not being ambitious for giving him a new deal. |
 | Forum Reply | Andy Fisher& Jay Fulton rewarded with new contracts at 08:11 13 Feb 2026
A good move by the club and will be mutually beneficial over the next 2 years. Fulton is a decent player and seems to have a good head on his shoulders so will be a big asset to the younger players, in a game where change is constant there is a lot of value in keeping hold of established players who know the club inside out - might not show as huge value on the pitch but is worth its weight in gold off it. Fisher is a capable number 2 and experienced professional, the club obviously see value in keeping him on too which tells me he adds value off the pitch. I do agree with some comments on here about the lack of academy players coming through which is harmful to our finances, however I don't see either of the players above blocking paths for any young players - the academy players either aren't trusted or deemed good enough yet. |

For the first time this season I am looking up not down, however still dont think we will break the 60 point mark so possibly a top half finish (hope i'm proved wrong). Derby will let us have the ball and press our back line to force mistakes so it will be a big game for both Cabango and Burgess on Saturday in not getting caught out, if we can break their high press we can cause problems for sure. The only change I would make would be Yalcouye for Cullen, he brought a lot of energy into things on Sunday and has a much better engine to get back and forwards than Cullen or Fulton IMO and also carries an attacking threat. Finally, on a different topic I could not believe the amount of LFC supporter buses coming out of south Wales heading up to Anfield whilst driving down on Sunday morning - these people should be horse whipped or publicly flogged for crimes to football. Looking forward to Derby on Saturday |
 | Forum Reply | Cabango and his astonishing handball loses the game for Swansea City at 20:16 25 Jan 2026
Both Cabango and Burgess cannot play the pass quick enough currently which means we cant break quickly, far too many slow passes into players facing their own goal which causes us problems and invites the press. I would much rather see more balls into the channel which carries less risk and more opportunity regardless of how it looks..... The ghost of Harry Darling gets better every time I see these guys play. Both good, solid pros but not suited for this style of play - either we change the style or the players its not rocket science. |

Reading through the comments since yesterday and aside from the actual game my thoughts on this particular match trail would be: - We all have different opinions and see the game differently which is part of the beauty of football and the reason these forums exist. I really do shake my head at some comments and opinions on here as I am sure you all do too but that is the beauty of this forum - if we all agreed on things people would get bored and move on to 3 hours of scrolling through tik tok. - This forum collects all the thoughts and emotions of SCFC fans both negative and positive and is the reason we all keep looking in when we really should either be working or doing something productive (guilty as charged)! - We all love SCFC, we all see things differently - this is a good thing.....really it is.... Ronald is improving (something I never thought I would say but hats off to him at least now having a go). Our distribution from the back is too slow and very average and our biggest roadblock to winning more games IMO. The speed of pass from Cabango is far too slow and Burgess just isn't suited to launch quick attacks or play anything other than a long ball down the channels. I thought the triple change yesterday came a little early as we were well on top at that point and should have kept pressing whilst Hull were on the ropes, we lost momentum at the wrong time? Not sure what everyone's realistic expectations are for the rest of this season but for me it has been hugely frustrating and really is a missed opportunity as the league this year is wide open and very average. Let's give Matos some time to build something and hopefully next season we can carry more of a threat and compete up at the top. Being a Swans fan = 10% enjoyment / 80% frustration & 10% hope. |
 | Forum Thread | Our Loan Strategy? at 13:31 16 Jan 2026
Following Casey's return to WHU and especially after him getting pulled out of the cup game on Sunday questions have to beasked about our loan strategy for this season and what the actual plan was? Benson - Arrived with pedigree and I would assume to offer us more attacking threat...cant get in ahead of Ronald who has had a very average season? Samuels Smith - Highly rated and an international through all age groups with England....I dont think he was ever going to get in ahead of Tymon so why waste his time unless we had other plans for him? Yalcouye - Clearly offers us something different in the middle of the park but has hardly played? Casey - Seems to be a very capable player but never got a sniff despite Burgess and Cabango having the wobbles? With the exception of Yalcouye it all seems poorly thought out and executed this season, no real positives either side? Definite improvements needed with regards our loan strategy going forward. |
 | Forum Reply | Where Do You Think We Will Finish This Season? at 14:05 15 Jan 2026
Just looked at our remaining fixtures and sticking with my initial guess which was 59 points and a bottom half finish, need another 27 points from the remaining 19 games which is still a big ask. Still looking down not up despite our pick up in form, got some tough home fixtures so really need to pick up more points away to keep well away from the drop. |
 | Forum Reply | Casey at 11:38 12 Jan 2026
I thought he had a decent game and was equally surprised when he came off, seemed to be dealing with WBA quite well? Personally I like what I have seen so far, he just needs more action which he is unlikely to get unless we get injuries so it seems. Seems a strange decision to not give him the full 90 minutes unless he is being recalled this month which I would assume could be possible due to his lack of game time? |
 | Forum Reply | Swansea City v West Bromwich Albion : FA Cup match day thread at 07:57 12 Jan 2026
An encouraging performance in most parts despite the defeat yesterday and our inability to put away our chances, my take away was: Positives - 23 chances created, that must be the most for some time which is a step forward - Ronald beating his man and getting a few crosses in, lets hope this continues.... - Eom, looks a lot sharper and dangerous cutting in - a super finish! - Casey looked solid enough and deserves another chance - Minutes for Ward who clearly looked rusty after months out, confident he will offer us something however. - Widell is improving game by game Negatives - The final third, we cannot seem to knit together good build up play with creating clear cut chances....Vip looked a bit sluggish yesterday so not sure if he's carrying an injury? - Another set piece goal conceded, Fisher clearly at fault for this. - The game continues to pass Franco by in the main, no real contribution made yesterday once again? Hopefully with a few more weeks of quality training Matos can add further improvements so we can start to put the full game plan together. Certainly worth considering getting in another striker even if on loan as we are screwed if Vip gets injured. |

Having lived in and around Birmingham for nearly 30 years I can confirm the state of things has gone downhill due to too many areas now being effectively 'taken over' by certain ethnic groups. There aren't any 'no go' areas as such but there are areas that now contain nearly no British people at all - Sparkhill, Aston, Handsworth etc, these areas are slowly spreading outwards.... The muslim influence is gaining traction politically and economically with more muslim councillors now being voted into power, big families living together and buying up prime properties, grammer schools now nearly all populated by asian children etc....education is taken far more seriously by these communities. Make no mistake the landscape is changing and with muslim birth rates far higher than ours this will sway influence even further over the coming years. I have a lot of asian friends and am in no way a racist however do fear for what this country will look like in 20 years time as muslim influence continues to grow. Lots of the tension we currently see in Birmingham tends to come from the Pakistani community who have a completely different way of living from us (child marriage and family marriages etc) and in general have a real chip on their shoulder. Retirement plan = Western Australia which has the sunshine, amazing coastline and nature with only a small population which all tick the box for a miserable git like me. |
 | Forum Reply | Millwall v Swansea City : Match Day Thread at 13:06 5 Jan 2026
Extremely frustrating but no complaints about the result yesterday, Milwall deserved to take the points, my key takes from the game were: - We always struggle against big physical teams, our players and style are not a good fit to deal with a constant flurry of balls in the box or over the top. - Allowed far too many crosses into the box (33 in total I think), the coaches will have known this was coming but we just could not cope with it yesterday on either side. - That was the best display of shot stopping I have seen for a very long time from Vig, simply oustanding glovework. - Seemed more like an American football game with their centre halves spending more time in our box than their own with set play after set play being launched at us. - Milwall generally looked a yard sharper than us all over the park. - Not that impressed so far with what I have seen from Samuels, doesn't seem too dynamic IMO however a tough game to be parachuted into. - Vipotnik was invisible yesterday, needed to be physical but made no mark on their centre halves all game? - Route one football is definitely making a comeback so our coaching team needs to evolve things again to deal with this old/new way of playing. - Ronald needs to practice his diving more, some lame dives again yesterday when he would have been better staying on his feet whe past his marker. In spite of the loss I am still positive for what the rest of the season holds, at least we now have a manager who can see the value in setting up teams / tactics to suit each fixture rather than a copy and past routine for each game which is something we have been missing for a while..... |
 | Forum Reply | West Brom New Years Day at 10:03 2 Jan 2026
Credit where it is due Matos is making a very positive impression. I always wait for at least 6 games in before I start to form an opinion as you can't change systems overnight, the fact hes evolved this using the players he has in a short space of time during a hectic period (without his back up staff) is quite impressive. For me the major positives so far would be: - Galbraith at right wing back has given us a new attacking threat down the right hand side, it's refreshing to see the ball going forward more often than not (albeit to Ronald) - Burgess & Cabango are looking more compact and solid, winning a lot more of their challenges lately to give us a strong base. - Stamenic is now looking to go forward more and is more positive with the ball. - Widell has bags of energy and with more games under his belt will no doubt be a great addition. - Vipotnik seems to be holding the ball up much better and bringing players into the game which is great to see and makes such a difference. Still lots of issues to fix with Idah, Cullen's role, Ronald's attacking threat, Franco looking knackered but the signs are positive. Hopefully with the solid platform he has developed he can now utilise the loan players more so he has options to rotate tired or out of form players. Based on yesterday's game alone I can see that Yalcouye could make a real difference to the rest of our season if he can get a run of games, would be a shame not to utilise him whilst we have him. Credit where it's due Matos has made a positive difference so far (with the help of Leon and Joe which is also encouraging). |
 | Forum Reply | So , what about Santos at 12:37 16 Dec 2025
Point well made regarding Key, he is bang out of form and not suited to the current style or formation unfortunately. I don't see him as the sulking type and hopefully he can for his own careers sake find a better level of performance soon or he will be on his way elsewhere. Football is a brutal industry despite the rewards on offer. Not defending the mistakes Key has made recently but I personally dont put this down to a lack of effort, sometimes things move on and leave you behind.... Being a politician seems to be the only job that currently provides security and reward for consistent failure and a lack of talent. |
