Robin Smith RIP
at 16:10 4 Dec 2025

Really tragic news. Growing up he was my idol along with Gordon Greenidge, Trevor Jesty and Chris Smith.

I'll never forget one day at Northlands Road. Myslef and a couple of mates were allowed to operate the small scoreboard by the members pavilion. I think it was a Sunday League match, but SMithy was at bat and hit the most ferocious square cut I have ever seen in my life. The ball was still rising as it hit the top of the scoreboard.

I can't recall if it was him or Trevor Jesty but there was Minor COUnties match and one of them hooked the ball and it went straight through the window of one of the flats next to the ground. Cue the owner (a woman) stomping across the outfield as mad as hell.

Simpler, and more enjoyable, times.

RIP Robin SMith

Tonda Eckert
at 18:54 10 Nov 2025

Your post on Nov 2 was spot on Dirk. Tonda has since given us 2 wins on the bounce with almost no time to make significant changes. But the tweaks he made have made a significant difference and it was noticeable on Saturday we were breaking at pace (and with several players) until we got to 2-0 up and then eased off.

I found some of the play (until 2-0) to be quite scintiallting and something we have been missing for a very, very long time.

I don't see the rush to appoint a new manager and I just have a feeling Tonda has something about him. And it may free up the pathway to the first team for our Academy. IT would have been so easy for him to bring on Aribo at HT (despite being a lazy, disinterested player) yet he stuck to his convictions and brough on an 18 year old for his debut and who did not let anyone down.

He can't possibly continue after that. The Scienze-Stephens sub was unforgivable and a sackable offence right there and then. It was obvious to everyone what would happen after that sub. And the Fraser sub was abysmal when you have a young striker who knows where the net is sat on the bench.

He has to be gone tonigh and bring Ralph back in.

That is a totally embarrassing defeat. Perhaps the worst I have ever seen (the 2 9-0s we were down to 10 men) - Juric's starting line up was baffling, his subs were baffling and this team has no heart,.

If Big Les ever plays for us again that will be a disgrace. He is awful, absolutely terrible.

A strke force of Armstrong and Archer. How did it ever come to this?

Actually....>SR, far, far worse than Gao

Absolutely.

I think this is the worst performance of the season. Juric is on a hiding to nothing but I'm struggling to see what (if any) our tactics are.

3 games, 3 defeats with one OK half (WHU) and the rest utter garbage.

Rusk 1 from 1 and 2 performances with heart.

And then yet another awful mistake from THB and 4-0. Pathetic, utterly pathetic.

I hope that lazy piece of shit Big Les never plays for us again. Slow, cumbersome and doesn't bust a gut to try and win the ball back after his (countless) mistakes.

Game over. I cannot recall a more pathetic Saints side. Even under Branfoot they played with heart .

This lot are gutless, talentless and rudderless.

Shameful! ANd Juric's team selection was head scratching to say the least!

Dear lord. Big Les is a cart horse and at fault for their second.

For the first time ever, thank the lord for VAR!

THis is a disgraceful display. No heart, no passion, no movement.

Why Bree starts I don't now. He's utter crap.

Big Les looking like a carthorse again.

Tall Paul looking awful.

This is as bad as anything under Martin

Couldn't agree more Dirk. ALl these people coming out of the woodwork from years ago (including that paragon of virtue Rod Stewart) and conducting a major witch hunt because of things he said/joked about.

While I can understand people not always being comfortable with others sense of humour where is the line drawn? It seems people are afraid of saying anything now for fear of offending anyone.

US Election
at 00:45 7 Nov 2024

Oh, how funny it has been seeing the liberal elites all throw tantrums over the election results here in the US.

Americans do not like being told how to think, what to support or being labeled 'fascists' because they have a different view to the person assigning this label. Likewise Americans, by their very nature, are quite conservative. The whole transgender nonsense (allowing men into womens sports) did not sit well (as the election shows) with the silent majority all while the shameless left patted themselves on the back and continued to hide the obvious: Biden's mental capacities severely diminished.

In the years following 2016 Americans did very well from the Trump presidency until COVID.

If Trump is a 'fascist' then why did his share of the black community, Jewish community and Latino community soar?

I did not vote for Trump (nor Harris) but can understand why a lot of people did.

You utter, utter numpty Saint22.

Did you not see the footage of the Asians all tooled up, balaclava wearing and out for a fight?

Typical pathetic hand-wringing excuses in your response: really proving my point.

And for the record, the far-right idiots and the far left idiots are more alike than you think. Dumb as and only looking for violence to further their cause.

@saint22 - while all violence should be deplored I noticed you only mentioned the right wing white lunatics. What about the a-holes in Birmingham that smashed up the pub and beat folks up?

This is the problem with white, liberal, bleeding hearts. Too busy taking the knee and sympathizing with BLM/Palestine/insert liberal cause here to understand that the double standards that have been applied in the UK for far too long have caused resentment. Of course opportunists and some sections of the far right will take advantage of this and cause mayhem.

But the same is true on the opposite side of the spectrum but that has been tolerated/encouraged for far too long and the recent anti-Semitism was not stamped out and this, in turn, will cause resentment from significant parts of the population.

Too much immigration coupled with lack of integration is likely the cause of the current protesting/issues and the extremes on both sides (yes far left not just "far right" as media and politicians say exists whenever anyone does not bow to their liberal elitism) are fanning the flames of discontent.

Super Bowl
at 22:17 11 Feb 2024

Like NYC Saint, I've been over here nearly 14 years.

NFL, as he says, is great to have on in the background and can be a really exciting watch - unless you're a long suffering fan of the Redksins (aka Commanders).

Superbowl is usually vastly overrated with crap HT performances and right now everything revolves around Taylor bloody Swift which is as annoying as can be.

We'll be watching this evening and hoping the 49ers put the Mahomes/Kelce/Swift hype down

Wow - can't agree with any of that. We have conceded 7 goals in 13 games now and you're claiming they are terrible?

Crumbled - bloody hell, we are 21 unbeaten. When did we crumble? IN the second half where we did not concede?

Lucky to get away with it - bloody hell! We had double the shots of Swansea and 5-0 at HT would have been a fair reflection. Their keeper was their best player by a country mile.

We're 21 unbeaten, moved up to 2nd and yet it seems you're still not happy.
